A speaker tried three communities to find their people: Toastmasters, a coworking space, and CrossFit. Only the coworking space stuck, leading to a job at Trellis, a business coach, and a course that shifted their thinking. Environment shapes what's possible.

The issue right now is that you're not hanging around the right people. You constantly feel like you're swimming upstream, right? Everyone around you is going the other way. And so you feel like the odd one out, you feel lonely, and you have all these influences where you're trying to go left and they're trying to take you right. And so I was like, okay, well, how do I get around the right people? Let me join Toastmasters because I figured at least these people are into personal development, right? And then I said, okay, let me also join this coworking space because at least these people have frickin' business. Yeah, because I think part of the issue right now is like you feel like you're the only entrepreneur on the planet, right? You got to surround yourself with people who are at least trying to go in the same direction. And then the third thing I joined is I joined a CrossFit gym again. And so I was like, okay, these three things will probably point me in the right direction. Don't get me wrong, CrossFit was helpful from a health perspective, didn't really push my business where I wanted to go, but it got me into a better mental headspace and whatever. The Toastmasters thing was okay, it didn't really stick. It was just a very older crowd and I just didn't really emotionally connect with a lot of people, but my intentions were in the right place. You tested it out. Yeah, tested it out. But the thing that actually stuck was the co-working space, and that actually unlocked a lot for me. When I think about the 3 catalysts that I actually found, one was the lead generation job at the startup at Trellis, one was the mindset and business coach, and the other one was the course I bought. All 3 of those came from the co-working space.
