She introduces the concept that short, intense workouts can be effective, then guides viewers through five one-minute exercises (combination push-up/plank, crab crawl with kick, plank jacks, donkey-leg straight kick, and sumo squats), and closes with a call-to-action to her channel and Rev4 DVD.

Hi, guys. Natalie, Jill. Welcome back to Happy, Healthy and Fit. Today I'm doing a much requested video 5 minute time crunch workout. So if you just have 5 minutes, that's all you've got. Can you do an effective workout and what should you do? I get this question a lot and first of all, yes. It's not the amount of time you're putting into a workout, it's how intense you're making it for you. So if you're putting an hour in at the gym, but you're just going through the motions, or you're there leaning on the side, other elliptical reading, not doing a lot. But if you pick challenging exercises that work multiple parts of your body, it doesn't matter how long you're doing it, as long as you make it intense for you and challenge yourself. Because it's so surprising to many when they actually do the right exercises that are working different areas of their body and really challenging them, how effective short workouts can be. So to be clear, I'm not saying just do five minutes a day, every day. That's not what I'm saying. Not at all. I'm just saying if you don't have a lot of time and you have a choice to do something at five minutes, what can you do on some of the days? And I'm going to share some of my favorite exercises with you. So today I'm doing a five minute workout and I'm going to walk you through what each of these look like and then you're off to do each one of them for a minute. Are you ready? So my first exercise I want to share with you is a combination pushup plank, combination push up, plank. Because you're going to go to a plank position which is already going to be intense. You're going to really engage that core, work those abs, but we're also really working those chest muscles, muscles and those triceps by varying our hand positions. So watch me here. We're going to start wider and we're going to come down to a push up, back up, hold it in plank position. Then we're going to move our hands in to a tricep position and take it back down to a pushup and then repeating back out and then in. So by changing our hand positions and doing these push ups from the plank position, we're working our core, our abs, our chest and our triceps. So try that one for a minute, harder than you think. That's the first exercise. The second exercise I want to show you is a crab Crawl with a kick. So watch me. First, I'm going to get down, face up, stomach is faced up, hands down, fingers pointed forward, toes pointed forward. And I'm going to take a crab crawl back, front and side to side. Really working those triceps. Now, if you really want to add more to this, you can add that kick at each. So now we're working more. We're working our legs, we're working our core, we're working those triceps. It's a combination move. Do it for a minute, you will really feel that. The next exercise I'm going to show you are plank jacks, because again, we're going to engage that core, work those abs. We're also going to get our heart rate up. And these are a lot tougher when you start adding time to them. So just one minute is all you need of these. But you're really going to feel it. The next move I'm going to show you is a combination donkey leg straight kick. So watch me. First, gonna take it up to a donkey kick, back down, out, curl it in, and then repeating that, back up. If you try to do these for up to a minute each leg, you're really gonna feel it. You should feel that in your hamstring, in your glutes. It's a tough one, especially when you start adding the time to it. The next one I want to show you is sumo squats. Now, you could do these without weight, and we're gonna really work those legs and mostly those inner thighs. But watch me. By varying, changing the pace, by getting lower, by doing multiple ones, getting low, squeezing it. You're really going to feel it in those inner thighs. So there you have it. That's five exercises, all of them. You can do them within a minute. They're intense. You're going to feel them. You can do the whole thing within five minutes. And you will feel like you've done something and you have done something. We've worked so much of our body. Good job, everybody. If you want more, if you want to get more of my bodyweight training, I've got lots of great bodyweight stuff on my YouTube channel. But I also have the best of my body weight workouts in my Rev4 DVD. You get four workouts in there, 10 minutes each, all using your own body weight. They're intense. You're going to feel it. See you next time. Bye.
