#9 | How to market to an Existing Business Network w/ Natalie Jill | Lara Hall-Bryce

A short interview (May 1, 2024) where Lara Hall-Bryce speaks with Natalie Jill about integrating Isagenix products into an existing personal brand or traditional business. Natalie explains how she moved from skepticism about network marketing to incorporating Isagenix organically—starting by enrolling a strategic list of 30 contacts, testing and sharing only products she actually uses, using a ManyChat-driven Instagram DM funnel with a quarterly supplement guide, and prioritizing one-on-one conversations over broad promotional posts. Her top tip: be curious and have real conversations rather than broadcasting to large numbers.

Sidekick here to help you break through all the noise and make social selling simple. You have a traditional business or if you have a big social media following or really, really strong personal brand. This episode is for you because we're going to be speaking to Natalie Jo. She's got a phenomenal social media reach like insane, over 3 million followers. A very, very well known brand within well being and what she' is she's actually incorporated Isagenix to boost her income but in a really, really gentle and organic way. A lot of people think that if you've got your own traditional business or personal brand, maybe it's going to be a little bit difficult to then also add Isagenix into the mix. But today's guest talks us through that. Actually it's really simple and it's a no brainer. If you've got an existing network, why wouldn't you want to capitalize on that and start promoting complimentary products to that network? So let's dive in with Natalie Jill. So Natalie, you have a phenomenal following on social media. You've got a very well established brand. I guess what we're all dying to know is how did you go from the brand to then also becoming so recognized within the Isagenix world? How did you kind of make the two work?
Yeah, it's so interesting because I never really understood network marketing. Years ago, in fact I would put my nose up to it and think I don't get it, I don't understand it. Like what's, like why would people do that? Is it a scheme, is it a, you know, I had all the, all the thoughts but for some reason Isagenix products would pop up as things that fell into my world, into what I like. I'm a natural salesperson at heart. I think salespeople are. It's not a cheesy word, it's not a slimy thing. Sales just means you are really good at sharing what you learn to work and you're really good at problem solving. And so that was always me. So whenever I would love a product or believe in something, I'd go see a movie I like. I was really able to tell the world about it and share it. So before I ever understood network marketing or was doing anything, I would actually buy at retail costs some random Isagenix products just because I used to love some of their things. I remember it started with their ISO delights years ago. That was like the first thing I thought, oh, I can have publicly sweet chocolate. So I, there was that. But then as I grew my brand online and I was growing this back in 2009, 2010 is when it started, when I started dabbling with growing my brand online and it was taking off and I was becoming a trusted authority there. As that was growing, I just sort of added it into what I was already doing.
I think a lot of people that will be listening to this will really resonate with what you said because network marketing isn't for everybody in terms of like what you said, the traditional style. You know, not everybody wants to go out and build a team or if you do, they might not want it to be like this phenomenal, huge team. It might just be about, okay, I've got an existing business here, so I've got a network. Can I just capitalize on that? And that's really on trend now with, even if it's got social media.
So I don't even, I don't think people would even look at me and go, she's a network marketer or she's. I don't even know how. I don't believe that I'm not recognized with an Isagenix to believe it. You know, honestly, like other than when people see the top hundred or they'll see something and they'll see my name because I don't truly make it all about Isagenix. And I know maybe that's what not people, people don't want to hear. But when you're a trusted authority, people don't want to hear just one thing they don't want to hear like it sounds agenda driven. So to me, anyone that I've brought into Isagenix, I've always encouraged them to share with how it's working in their lifestyle, share what they love about it and find out, be inquisitive, ask people questions and see, see if it's a good match for them. But don't go after everyone with this agenda that everyone's going to be a network marketer. It's really about learning and loving what you love and then sharing what works for you and then, and learning what might work for other people as well.
So let's go back to the start. You get started. You said yes. What did you do? Because that's what.
Yeah. So the very first thing. Well, first I had to convince myself out of that. Network marketing was cheesy because I had this whole story around, around that about it from our product standpoint. I went about it from a business standpoint. So the first thing I did, I remember on that flight back to California at the Time I started sather and I made a list of 30 people that if I knew, if I had these 30 people that I already was close with, that had already connected with, if I had them on board with this makes sense for them too, that that would, from a business sense make sense. So I strategically, before I started fully sharing the product in my audience, I asked those 30 people, I told them what I was going to be doing, that I was going to be getting loud about it, that I was going to be sharing, did they want to come along on the journey. And every single One of those 30 people actually said yes. And now why did they say yes? Because people say, well, I asked people, when they say no. I had a lot of conviction and certainty. And in sales I teach conviction and certainty. When you are lit up, excited, enthusiastic, convicted and have certainty about something other people want to follow that energy. So I had a lot of yeses in that early stage. You spent three weeks, you know, talking to those 30 people, enrolling them. Could you just repeat that like 10 more times? Because that was my main focus that time. But I will share. I know this is an anomaly situation, but I went gung ho for those and those initial build outs is what built my business. Honestly, it's what built it. So that was step one. Step two was I really started experimenting with all the products and I was very aware that I wasn't going to love everything. And I think it's, it's kind of phony when we say we love everything. ICE Gen X has a lot of amazing products, but I don't even think they expect us to love every single thing. There's a little customization in there. Like what works for you, what do you love? Like, I in particular love the collagen. I love. There's things I love, there's things that I, maybe they're not for me. So I shared what I actually, actually loved within my communities. Now how did I do that? Well, I become a trusted resource with my communities and I do not sell them or tell them about things I do not believe in. So for example, when my audience asked me about my supplements that I use, I share all of them, not just Isagenix, I share all of them. And I make it very informative and educational. And I share these, these particular ones are with Isagenix and this is why. So I focus on that versus making up a story that this is weird, they're going to think it's network marketing. I just share the truth. And when you do that, you don't get confronted with the objections that we hear about.
So talk us through like how do you generally promote the products to your existing network? Like do you have.
Yeah, great question.
Instagram is it ads?
Yeah. So great question. So you. First of all, you will very rarely see me just make a post with an isotic product. That is not my style, it's not what I do. But you'll two things. One, the majority of people that I brought in from a business standpoint came from a personal one on one conversation. Not a post came from a conversation, somebody I met, a conversation with a friend, people that I'm talking to or a client that's using a lot of my stuff, that's asking about making additional income, things like that. So I still approach the business method not from just making a social media post. The product use though that does fall into my post. Now what I personally use and take this trick for whoever wants to use it. I actually made a supplement guide and I update this quarterly. But it's a free supplement guide that I made and when people go to my post and they comment the word I believe it stops. I hope I didn't mess it up. Stops. If you want to test it out, you actually can get this whole supplement guide and it downloads for free. So what I did is I used something called ManyChat, which is a program you can use, works with Instagram, it's legal and I use keywords. So I might share one day about a bunch of lifestyle things I'm doing and I'll say for my free supplement guide, comment the word stops below and somebody will comment it and it's going to trigger an autoresponder their DM with my free supplement guide and within that is going to list all types of tips and things and it's actually a really thorough guide that I teach things. But you'll notice there's a lot of Isagenix in there. A lot of Isagenix in there and so people learn about it that way also within my own communities and programs. So once you're in my products, you're in my like total body Thrive. You're in my program. When we get to the part about educating about supplements, I'm absolutely going to share and teach why I use. Now I would be lying if I said I again that I do all Isagenix because I it wouldn't be truthful to people. So I share what I use and then I share other brands of things that I personally use. I just make sure it does not conflict with network marketing. So I don't pick another network marketing company, obviously.
Yeah. And you know what? I think that makes perfect sense. And everybody is doing that, even people that haven't necessarily got an established business or brand. Like, if you go on to Instagram, for example, it's normal now to see people representing multiple products. And I'm not just talking about marketing. It could be just an affiliate program that they're on. There's no reason why you actually can't stand behind certain brands. Of course, as long as it's not a conflict.
But here's what I want people to really hear. Tell that when it comes to selling, because I teach selling, tell the truth. Tell the truth. People see right through. Use my coupon because, you know, or whatever it is, or tell the truth. Like, I don't hide that I make money with ICE Gen X. I don't hide it at all.
I share.
This is what I use.
This is why.
And it's amazing because they have an incredible referral partner program. I do that with anything I share. If I actually really love a skincare line that's not ICE Genetics, let's just say I'm just making this up. I love something. I'm sharing the journey. I'm sharing how I'm trying things, how I like it, what I like about it. And then I'm going to say, hey, I'm going to reach out to the company and ask for a coupon or whatever it is. So I tell a story with it. It's not just, boom, today I'm promoting this. Today I'm promoting that. There really is a strong journey with things now. Every new, every new ICE Gen X product, I give a fair try. I do. I try that first before I would ever search out another brand. And in fact, if I'm using another brand of a particular product and I suggest something new, I'm going to try those and give them the full try before I continue with. Because, like, I do put Isagenix as my priority.
If I love the items, that makes sense as well. So just going back to when you do really love a product, do you actually do much content on those specific products as well?
Sometimes, like if you go to collagenrocks.com, i love their collagen. So I built a whole page around it, my own page. Isagenix has amazing, amazing pages. But I wanted something in my own words that would make sense with my own link. But it links to my collagen stuff. So, yes, I do. If and when it makes sense for me, I will Do a blog on it. I will write a report on it. I'll share a story about it. But I don't do it for every single product because, again, that would not feel authentic and people would see right through that.
And you know what? I think actually that's taking the product, but really making it your own as well. Like, you don't just have to sit behind what Isagenix makes for us, you know, with the. The tools and that. You can just go away and do your own. And I think that makes it more trustworthy because it's like, it doesn't look generic and people can just smell it a mile away. If, like, it's not.
Yeah.
People will know. Hang on, you didn't. That. You know, so it's better if it's kind of like your colors, I think your vibe.
Yeah. And also, I think it's. You know, I lean into discomfort with people. So, like, when someone says, oh, that's a network marketing company, like, yeah, and so what? I don't. I don't take that as a. That's a negative. It's like, I take that as an education opportunity. Like, I have no shame at all that I sell things. I have no shame that I use my. Like, people get mad sometimes, rarely. But, like, you're just selling on, like, okay, well, I don't. Not doing this for free. Why else do I put all this time into my social media? So, no. And if someone's offended, it's so rare. I don't think I've ever really gotten a lot of that. Maybe a few times someone says, that's a network marketing company. And I say, yeah. And like, to me, it's a brilliant model. And it is. I'll tell you, I am so grateful for Isagenix. I'm so grateful for network marketing. It has saved me many times in my business as an entrepreneur. Anyone listening? If you have your own brand, you know, it is up and down. You've got some months that are amazing, some that suck, some years that are amazing, some that suck. This is the one thing that has been stable year after year after year after year, and it grows. So I think people are crazy to not be involved in a network marketing company.
So we're gonna wrap up now, Natalie, but is there anything else that you could just drop to end this? This call is like your biggest top tip.
So my biggest top tip. Tip is be curious and have real conversations. So I'm gonna give you just a quick example if you were. I. This is something I teach in sales but if you're walking through a mall and there's a kiosk and someone's selling jeans and they're like, do you wanna buy my jeans today? Do you wanna buy my jeans? They're on sale. Buy my jeans. Like a hundred people can walk by and almost none of em would say yes. Maybe one would say yes. And in network marketing we tend to do that. We're like, oh, I'll just ask a hundred people. And someone might do, however, if there was just five people that walked by. And instead I had a really deep conversation with them and I told them I like their style and I asked them questions about how they select what they're, what jeans they wear, what do they look for in jeans. I am much more likely to find a gap in what they're looking for and offer a solution with my jeans and sell those five than by just asking 100 people. So my biggest tip is stop trying to just talk to 100 people. A thousand people make a million posts, have real deep conversations with people, ask real questions and that's how you move the needle.
That's awesome. You are a rock star. Thank you so much, Natalie.
Thank you so much.
Wow, I love that interview. Natalie is a true powerhouse. I loved her confidence and I loved how proud she was to represent Isagenix as well. So it just goes to show it's a no brainer. If you've got an existing business or a brand or a social media following, why wouldn't you want to capitalize on that? You know, we have incredible products here. It's just about you deciding which ones are going to be your key products, which products do you love the most and then really niching down and making that authentic recommendation. That was my biggest takeaway from that interview. You. So let's get into action. If you're an existing business owner, have a think about how can you market the Isagenix products to that existing network. What tools do you already use for maybe communications that you can add in something to do with Isagenix? Have a think about how can you market the Isagenix products to that network by using a strategy that you've been using for that existing business. The other idea I absolutely loved was Natalie's supplement guide. I love that idea. I think that's going to be great for traffic. It's going to be a great way to get conversations starting and think we can all have a go at that. Now you might be thinking, I have absolutely no idea where to start in creating some kind of E guide. Or ebook, etc. And that's okay. If you're brand new to this, don't worry, there are some amazing tools online that can help you. My highest recommendation would be to use Canva. It's so simple, very, very beginner friendly. And you can just type in there, you know, ebook or guide. And you'll have lots of different templates available. So have a think about what products could you recommend? What fits into your lifestyle? Maybe you want to just recommend beauty. Maybe you do want to do the same as Natalie and you want to talk about well being, what supplements you take. Maybe it's fitness. Maybe you're a dancer and your guide would be recommending clothes, it could recommend supplements, it could recommend where you go to do the classes. Maybe home yoga is your thing. So your guide might have things like where to buy a yoga mat or yoga clothes. And then in there you'd also add maybe your favorite Isagenic supplements. Maybe you're into running. So in your guide you could have, have what's the best running songs to listen to, what's the best trainers to wear. And then of course you can add some supplements in there as well. So you get the idea. It's about taking something that's real to you, something that you're an expert on. So whatever your hobbies are, whatever your interests are, and then make a guide around that and add some products and services in there. And of course you're going to be adding the most complementary Isagenix products into that guide as well. Or you could just focus on a well being guide. You know, if you didn't know where to get started, that would be a real easy one to do. So you could literally, literally just talk about what are your favorite Isagenix products. And then maybe if there's any other supplements that you're currently taking, you can add those in there as well. That's a wrap from me, guys. I'll see you on the next episode.
