Gluten Free and Vegan Pitaya Smoothie w/ Natalia Kern | Natalie Jill

YouTube cooking/demo video where Natalie Jill and guest Natalia Kern prepare a layered chocolate pitaya (dragon fruit) smoothie. They describe ingredients (fresh coconut water and meat, medjool dates, chia seeds, frozen pitaya, bee pollen, vitamin B complex, frozen cherries, vegan chocolate protein, optional cacao/cacao nibs), health benefits (electrolytes, protein for post-workout recovery, fiber, antioxidants, skin/hair benefits), and practical tips (use frozen fruit to avoid ice, cracking a fresh coconut vs. using frozen/packaged alternatives, layering technique and texture tips). The video also references Natalia’s “bikini plan” where the recipe appears.

Hi, guys.
Natalie, Jill here. Welcome back to Unprocessed yous Diet. I'm here with my good friend Natalia Kern. Hi, fellow fit mom. And today we are making an awesome chocolate pitaya smoothie.
Oh, yeah. So good.
And I was introduced to it from her because it's her signature smoothie, and she's got it on her bikini plan, which we're gonna share with you after the video. Yes. This is awesome. Talk to us about what is in the smoothie and how you can make it. It's so easy.
It has so many great ingredients. I'm so happy to make it in your kitchen. And we will start with coconut water. And we have here. We're actually going to squeeze some ingredients and make layers. Okay. So what I will need is a good tall glass for our smoothie. So we'll put raw coconut water straight from the coconut we just cracked.
She literally just cracked the coconut open.
Yeah.
She didn't even buy coconut water. She cracked it open and she used it.
I need a spoon to spoon out the meat out of the coconut. So let's do this.
Let me see. It's fresh.
Earlier, we got our arm workout with her cracking open the coconut.
Yes. And it's so good because coconut water is really, really good for you, especially after the workout because replenishes all the electrolytes and helps you with your muscle recovery. So if you feel sore, coconut water is really good, actually. It is sterile, so when you open it, it is safe to use it in your iv.
Yeah.
And coconut meat is full of amino acids and healthy fatty acids. So it's really, really good for your health, for your skin, for your hair, and for your nails. So it's not just yummy, it's really healthy. And it's beauty smoothie.
So if you're intimidated by coconut, like me, there is another choice. Just so you know, you can do coconut water and coconut meat. You can actually buy frozen coconut meat and use those two things. Correct. So you can either open a fresh coconut for this or do the crazy, busy way of the coconut water and the frozen coconut meat.
If you want to go. You don't have time to crack coconuts. You know, you just go to the frozen department and buy frozen coconut meat, or you can order it online. So I order a lot of stuff on Amazon. Amazon. And just ordering stuff online because I just don't have time to shop sometimes. I'm a busy mom. And if you don't have coconuts in your grocery store, you just buy coconut water off the shelf. Perfect. Yeah, it's ready to go. So now this is our first layer. We have some coconut water, half the cup, and coconut meat. So let's say I put out here half of a coconut. So we make half a cup of coconut meat. Now, for sweetener, we use two medjool dates. And you can just put them and drop them in the Vitamix. Now we have some.
Chia seeds. Chia seeds are very good for you. There is pretty much everything in chia seeds. Healthy fats, amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins, everything. It's really good for your glycerinic fiber, too. Oh, my goodness.
Yeah.
I just want to say for your digestive system. So good and healthy. Okay. And finally, pitaya, or dragon fruit. And it grows in South America, and it's really known for its beautiful flavor fiber, vitamins, antioxidants. It's really powerful. It's really good for your skin as well. So I love to use it because it's really healthy and such a fun color. So make sure it's frozen. So.
Use it right before I open it right before. Okay. So it gives that ice cream texture actually. Perfect. Full of fiber. Really, really healthy food. Okay, now we'll add our bee pollen. And our vitamin B complex is right here for energy for that energy boost for a fit mom.
Right in here.
So let's blend it up perfect.
Okay, so let's just layer.
So we're layering it. We're putting a base down with this pretty color.
Yes. Just for fun, because it's so colorful and pretty. Your kids will ask, mommy, what is that? Give it a try. Of course it's full of energy. It's full of vitamins and antioxidants. Super healthy and pretty. Okay, this is our first layer. Okay, let's blend up our second layer. And remember, we have our coconut water. So let's actually put our cherries first.
These are just frozen cherries, Rans. Yeah.
And I love frozen cherries because it's easy to find. They're available all year round. And because it gives that cold ice creamy texture.
Now, freezing fruit does not make it lose its nutrients because a lot of people will say, well, you're talking on processed diet, and now it's frozen. But it's actually a good choice. So you can preserve everything. So if you're buying, especially if you're buying a whole organic fruit and you freeze it, it's a win situation. And perfect for smoothies because you don't have to add ice or something else because the fruit does it Yeah, I.
Don'T like ice in my smoothies because it dilutes the flavor. So I like it whole and for that reason frozen is perfect. Okay, let's add a scoop of protein powder. We are using vegan protein powder. You can add your own or you can actually skip it depending on your preferences. But this smoothie is perfect post workout. So we need some protein as well. We're building our bodies, remember that.
So do you recommend a particular flavor protein powder for this? Does it matter?
I love chocolate cherry flavor. So for this smoothie I would like to use chocolate protein powder. But you can use your favorite. But I think chocolate is perfect for the mix.
Perfect. So whether using a vegan, a plant based or a whey or anything, I probably wouldn't recommend a full meal replacement protein powder because that would just be too much in this. Right. Because you have all the good nutrients already. Yeah.
So just use your favorite vegan flavor. Perfect chocolate flavor protein powder. And we have remaining of coconut water which makes a half a cup. So pour it into the rest in there and let's blend it in.
Okay.
And our second layer is ready. You can also add some cacao powder to it to make a darker chocolate.
So, you know, I love how creative this is because I think I'm pretty boring when it comes to smoothies. I'll just blend it all in and it tastes good. Right. But this makes it so decorative and fun and it's great for entertaining. I'm sure kids just even love this.
Absolutely love it. If you have an extra minute, just blend it up like this. It's just so much more fun and you can incorporate and you can engage your kids to actually make it with you. How fun.
I love that.
So let's sprinkle some cacao nibs because they'll go perfectly with the flavor mix here to make it even prettier. And you know what the best thing we've done with kids and smoothies? We bought some ice cream forms or popsicle forms and we froze them.
Love it. Yeah. This looks awesome. This is an art piece. I'm almost scared. I want to drink it because it looks great, but I'm almost scared to touch it. It looks so perfect.
Oh, don't be afraid. It's really good for you. You know, quick tip. The first layer should be a little bit thicker than the upper layer. That way it'll stay perfectly even. But if it doesn't, just go for it because it's delicious and so good for you. I love it.
So you can get the recipe down below. All information is right there. And check out Natalia's bikini plan. Because this recipe and so many other amazing recipes, even lots of vegan, vegetarian, raw, or if you're not vegan or vegetarian, there's regular recipes there, but a lot of creative stuff in there. I love it. Full plan. And you can get all that information down below. Yeah.
And it's all part of my program, my bikini plan.
Cheers.
Cheers.
