The number one question I get consistently is how do I get and stay motivated? And I get why I get this question so much. You see, losing weight and achieving lasting fat loss can feel impossible. There's so much information overload and overwhelm out there and it can be so frustrating. So here's the deal. For those of you who know me, I have spent years learning and dialing in lasting fat loss. And I and I have so much great information to share with you about this exact topic. I couldn't contain myself to just one video, so I created four free videos for you. But don't worry, they're organized and simple for you to understand. So let's get started. In today's video, I'm going to teach you how to get and stay motivated and why this is connected to your fat loss. For those of you who don't know me yet, I'm Natalie Jill. I'm a licensed master sports nutritionist and functional fitness trainer, bestselling author and creator of the Total Body Thrive and I'm a fat loss expert. I kill fat for a living. Not just the types of fat on our bodies, although I totally help you with that, but those false assumed truths as well. Those beliefs that are stopping us in our tracks from our fullest potential and radical results. I've helped hundreds of thousands of people just like you lose both kinds of fats, keep it off by simplifying things for them. But today this is about you. As humans, we're motivated by stopping pain and increasing pleasure. I want to do a quick exercise with you now. In this exercise, I'm going to walk you through a process where you're going to identify short term motivators, basically the pain you want to stop, as well as the long term motivators, the things that you want to experience in your life, you know, your bigger goals and ambitions. Now, I know this can be hard, so I'm going to walk you through this using examples from my own life and from other people that I've helped. So to do this, I have a simple process that starts with you listening to a series of questions. Now, the purpose of doing this is to help jog your memory about things you're probably experiencing but are so used to feeling them that you don't even know that they're a problem anymore. I want you to make a note of all the things that resonate with you and I want you to write them down and you can add whatever you want, whatever you're feeling or experiencing in your life that it's Causing pain. You can write it down. It can be physical pain, it can be emotional pain, But I want you to write it down. Now, don't worry. There's no right or wrong answers and nobody's gonna judge you or even see your answers. Only you are gonna see these on paper. But you're gonna get this out of your head and onto paper and it's going to be really eye opening for you. Are you ready? Do this. Do you feel like you're stuck in a rut? Like no matter how much you do or how hard you work, you don't feel yourself making any progress? Now really think about this. Think about all the areas in your life, your physical health, your emotional health, your family, your friendships, your finances, your career, even your home. Are you truly happy, satisfied with all those aspects of your life? Like in all the areas, health, fitness, relationships, family, work. What about your purpose and your dreams that you have for yourself? Are they becoming a reality? Do you feel like you're working so hard to see a change, but instead of seeing that change, you feel like you're stuck in mud, unable to get out? If you are stuck, how painful is it to be stuck there? Write it down. Do you feel confident or have you lost that? Do you have a hard time falling asleep at night? Or even worse, do you wake up several times in the middle of the night with your brain moving 100 miles an hour? Then do you wake up in the morning feeling even more tired and unmotivated? Write it down. When you do get up because that alarm goes off, do you find yourself hitting that snooze button over and over again? Or do you spring out of bed ready and excited to start the day? Now, how about your energy? Are you tired and low on energy? Or do you have high energy? And how about your actual days? Do you find that you have several dips in your energy throughout the day, making it hard to focus and stay engaged in whatever you're doing, like in the afternoon time. And then you're constantly reaching for anything to pick up and give you energy. Any quick fix, like caffeine or sugar. Do you find yourself doing that? If so, I want you to write it down. Now let's talk about your food and meals. How do you feel after eating? Do you feel energized after a meal? Or do you feel gross and stuffed and maybe like you need to unbutton those jeans you're wearing? If you feel that discomfort after a meal, I want you to write it down. When it comes to physical activity, does it light you up? Does it recharge you? Do you feel accomplished and reinvigorated? Or do you drag yourself to workouts and then feel embarrassed by the way that you look? And maybe like you think people are looking at you and judging you and you're thinking, I don't want people judging me or looking at me. Do you feel like you don't have the time to take care of yourself, to eat well or to prepare your food? Maybe because just you're too busy taking care of others, like maybe your spouse or your kids or your elderly parents or a sick friend? Is the pain of putting yourself last affecting your health or your happiness? If yes, write it down. So those are just some of the things to help jog your memory. Did any of these resonate with you? Take the time now to list anything and everything you are feeling that is painful to you right now. If you have to pause this video, if you need more time, don't worry, pause it, because I'm going to still be here when you get back. This is a really important part of this exercise, okay? To get it all out. You might be surprised to hear this, but at one point or another, I could have answered yes to every single one of those questions I just asked you. I'm also 100% human, and I ran into many of these same obstacles, and I've gone through the entire range of emotions. But by going through all of this and actually feeling it, feeling defeated and like things were just not right, and then coming out on the other side, this is how I know what to do to overcome those emotions and obstacles that hold us back from being truly happy in our lives. Before we continue on with this exercise, I want to take a minute and give you a quick overview of my life and where I had to overcome a lot of this pain and negativity in my life. You see, a little over a decade ago, this was me. Now, anyone that would have seen me would have thought, oh, just a happy pregnant person. They wouldn't have noticed anything strange. And that's where the pain was coming from in me. Because I was feeling like a fake person. Because I knew on the outside I looked like I was totally happy. I was having a baby. I was married. I was living in this nice neighborhood. I had a great job. And I knew on the outside everyone would have thought, she's got that perfect life. But what they didn't know was that my life was falling apart. The one good thing in my life was I was having a baby. Something I was super excited about. But My best friend, who I'd been married to, we weren't going to work out. And this is at the time when the stock market had crashed, the housing market had crashed, and all of a sudden I couldn't afford the house I was living in. And I had no one to talk to about this. And I turned to food as comfort now, not just healthy food, I mean the junk food. I remember going through McDonald's drive thru pretty much every single day for comfort. I wanted the sugar, I wanted the carbs. And I knew I shouldn't just have this food to comfort me. And the more bad foods I ate, the more weight I gained, the worse I felt about myself. And the problem just didn't go away. Now when I had my daughter, in fact, things got worse because you see, I'm only 5 foot 2 and I was 60 pounds heavier than I am now today. And that's a lot of weight. And it wasn't just pregnancy weight. In fact, I remember my daughter being born and me asking the doctor when they told me that she wasn't even 7 pounds if the placenta weighed another 50 pounds. I had a lot of this excess weight. And then I had depression on top of that. And they go hand in hand. You're depressed and now you're eating wrong and now you're overweight and that's contributing to depression. It's a vicious loop. And I felt like I had the weight of the world on me. Where was I going to live? How am I going to pay my bills? How was I going to get through this? My marriage ended in a divorce. I became a single mom. And I fell into all of those excuses. I. I knew I needed to make a change. And I remember researching how to lose weight and feel better and I just ran into complete information overload. Now all that negativity could have taken over my entire life. And honestly, it almost did. I had a lot of reasons, long lists of excuses to be and stay depressed, overweight, frustrated, and even angry. But I didn't stay in that place. I decided that I didn't want those circumstances to define my future. I know I made that sound easy. So how did I do that? Well, that's where we come to this next part of the exercise. I started to create a vision for myself. I want you to start to do this for you. I'm giving you that permission today. You've likely been scared to take this next step. I want you to dream for a moment. Now, in my Total Body Thrive coaching program, we go so much deeper into this. But I want to scratch the surface with you, right here, right now. What is it that you want for yourself? For me, I wanted to be happy. But that's not really enough of a clear vision. I had to really dream. I had to think, what did I want? The more my brain kept telling me what I didn't want. I had to pause, acknowledge it, and say to myself, I hear you, but what do you want? The vision started to form just like it will for you. I wanted to be financially free. I wanted to feel confident. I wanted to be healthy. I wanted to look and feel amazing. I wanted to be in a happy, healthy relationship. I wanted to love my environment. I wanted pain to become my purpose. I wanted to shed the excess weight. I wanted to feel and look amazing. I wanted to be in the best shape of my life. I wanted to appear like I was aging in reverse. Now, once I got in the group and I started to really dream, they started to roll out of me. I want you to pause now and start to do the same. What do you want? What would you want if no one is judging you? What would you want if anything was possible? Now take a minute and think about the big things you want out of your life. Pause this video if you need to, as many times as you need to, but do that now. When you do this, you start to get a clear, vivid vision. And this is just the beginning. When we know where we want to go, it gets a lot easier to actually get there. You see, so many skip this part. They stay stuck in exactly what they don't want or all the reasons why it won't happen. But they don't actually get clear on what they want for themselves. You are starting to break through this, but starting to get that clarity of what you actually want is is that first step. Okay, so now for part three. What are the false assumed truths that have been holding you back from getting to these goals? Now you see a false assumed truth. Fat. The other kind of fat I talk about is anything that we believe that stops us from getting to our goal. For example, thoughts like I'm too old or it's too late, or I have terrible genetics or my injury is preventing me from whatever. False assumed truths are things we believe, but they're not actually factual. As long as someone else with that same circumstance has a different outcome, then your belief is false. It's a false assumed truth. It might be real, but it's a false assumed truth if somebody else has different results with that. For my transformation to happen, I had to See that? What are some of your false assumed truths? Things like I don't have enough money or time or my friend said this or my doctor said this. List them out. When I coach people through Total Body Thrive, we go really deep into uncover these and flip them. But I want to scratch the tip of the iceberg here with you on this because as soon as you're actually aware of these things, that awareness is where you're able to start changing them. False assumed truths are so eye opening. As soon as you realize that your false assumed truths may be keeping you stuck, all new possibilities start to open up. You start to see the power of our own belief system and really start to see how your vision can become a reality by starting to shift those things. Okay, so now we're ready for the final step on this. Now I'm going to just scratch the surface here as we go through this in a much greater level in Total Body Thrive. I'm going to call this dcm, which is basically your driving core core motivator. What's the driving core motivator behind your goals? A driving core motivator is the real reason behind everything and it becomes your core driver when it's identified and understood. And when it's identified and understood, you align quickly with your intentions and then you become unstoppable towards your goals. I've had many personal DCMs over the years. My first one, my initial one for my transformation, was my daughter. She was my dcm. I was so motivated to be the best mom possible that I could be for her, providing for her, protecting her, and being the person she could be proud of. I wanted her to grow up in a positive, loving, supportive environment. I wanted her to have a home where she felt safe. I wanted her to see me living a healthy lifestyle, feeling good about myself. I wanted her to see me eating well and being active so she would do the same. And while at the same time time I wanted to come home from a long day of work and have the energy to actually play and really engage with her. I wanted to be present with her and I wanted her to see me happy. But I was tired, I was overweight, I was broke. I definitely wasn't happy in my job and I was not at all at the time. I'm the mom that she deserved. I had to change. I used the pain of being tired and overweight as my motivation to change things in the short term. But as I got going, I knew why I had to change and why I had to do the right things every day. Moving forward, my DCM became my focus. It truly was my driving core motivator. So yes, I did lose the fat. And guess what? I did. I increased my energy and those two things led to two more things and then two more things. And before I knew it, I was in full momentum. Focusing on that driving core motivator was what allowed me to keep going. And for me, it has kept me going for so many years, more and counting. Now today, I have a completely different life. But it all started because I found my motivation and got the momentum going. Now, with any setback, with business, with marriage, with parenting, with my health, with confidence, any setback, I go through this exact same process. I look for what's coming up, what I want, what the false assumed truths are. And then I figure out that dcm, that driving core motivator. When I do that initial work that I just shared with you, things start to change. That's why I'm standing here today. A business that allowed me to be flexible, to spend more time with my daughter, to take her to school and pick her up, to be at all of her activities and to be present and to be happy. And now I love my life, I love how I feel and I love that I can help so many of you get out of this rut. So here's what I want you to do now. I want you to decide. Decide that you are ready to take on this process and start to change things. Deciding still comes first. It's that first step in transformation. So my question for you. Have you decided that you are ready? If yes, you're not going to want to miss this next video because I can't wait to share with you what I'm going to teach you next about nutrition. Now, this is a topic on nutrition that I have not dove deep into with you before. And it's something that a lot of us are doing in our diets that's really contributing to fat gain and getting in the way of our fat loss. Now remember earlier I mentioned I was creating a four part video series for you. The second video is where you're going to get all of that information. So make sure you're on the lookout for it. You will see it within the next 48 hours.
