SunButter Chocolate Cups! Dairy Free, NUT free, Grain free...

Live demo and conversation (hosts Natalie Jill and Liana Werner-Gray) demonstrating a gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free alternative to peanut-butter cups using sunflower-seed butter (SunButter) and dark, low-sugar chocolate. The video explains nutritional and environmental benefits of sun butter (anti-inflammatory, vitamin E, magnesium, sustainable vs. almonds), shows step-by-step preparation (melt chocolate on low heat, add a dollop of sun butter into cups, cover with more chocolate, chill in fridge/freezer), and answers viewer questions about ingredients, storage, molds, and variations (salt, coconut, sunflower seeds). The recipe is positioned as allergy-friendly, keto-compatible (fat bombs), low-sugar, and quick to make.

What's up?
Hey, look who I'm with. I'm with my good friend Liana Warner Gray, who you all. We're making the most awesome recipe today. I'm so excited about this, but I want to tell you guys first. This is how I even know Liana. We've become really good friends. We've done a lot together, but we met really because of our books initially. So those of you that follow me for a long know that I have two books. 7 day jump start and Aging in.
Reverse, After Cooks, Epic Recipes.
And Liana I met when she did earth diet and 10 minute recipes and Cancer Free foods. And the reason we really clicked and connected is our philosophy on food is so similar.
Yeah. Super clean, as natural as possible. Whole foods as possible, real foods as possible. So that we can have energy and we can reverse our aging, which is.
And apparently cancer free.
Yes. Stay cancer free forever.
Yeah.
So we're in Natalie's kitchen today. Check out her awesome chopping board.
But you all, we're making the most awesome recipe. If you guys like peanut butter cups, this is even better. And the reason we do this one is neither one of us are big peanut fans, and because.
Go ahead. Well, because peanuts are inflammatory. So as soon as we eat peanuts, you might experience feeling itchy or sometimes a bit bloated. So it's just, you know, it's not worth it. They're totally inflammatory, and they're a legume.
Really. They're not even a nut.
Yeah. Yeah. So we have an alternative for you guys.
But also, I wanted to share. This is really good too, because a lot of you have messaged that you either have a nut owl allergy. I know. My daughter is allergic to all nuts. I've shared that before. She's allergic to all nuts. So I was also looking for an alternative on what can I do that is not nuts so she can enjoy treats that I enjoyed as a kid. So what you're gonna love about what we're sharing today is not only is it gluten free and unprocessed, it's super low in sugar. It's nut free. It can be dairy free, depending on what chocolate you use. Yeah, exactly.
This is dairy free. And it's very low carb. Yeah. So should we reveal the secret?
And no grains.
Have you guys seen this? Sun butter.
Sun butter.
It's made from sunflower seeds.
Roasted sunflower seeds.
So cool.
And get this. So sun butter. It's an anti inflammatory. So peanut butter inflammatory. Sun butter anti inflammatory. Yay.
And it's so good, you all. I think this is better than peanut butter. Yeah.
The taste is super unique. It's so, so tasty. And also it has the same amount of protein as peanut butter. So you don't have to worry about like you're taking out some of your protein from your diet. But it is nutritionally superior because it has more magnesium, iron, vitamin E than peanut butter. And almond butter.
So good. So we're gonna mix it with something else. We like dark chocolate, but we're gonna use this brand today.
So we're gonna make chocolate sun butter cups, you guys. And so this chocolate is dairy free and it's sweetened with coconut sugar. So this is a more wholesome sugar that the body can actually process. Yeah.
Talk about coconut sugar versus regular sugar or why we don't want to, why we don't want to use fake sugars.
Right. Fake sugars, like refined sugars are the most toxic things we can put into our body. In fact, in my book cancer favorite food I researched for so long, you guys, to find out the top 15 most toxic foods on earth. Guess what was number one? Sugar. White refined sugar. The body just doesn't know what to do with it. Soon as we eat it, it just creates so many health issues. And so we want to look for the safe sugars. So safe sugars are fruits and dates and honey, monk fruit, maple syrup, and coconut sugar. So when buying chocolate, you want to look for ones that are using a less processed sugar. So this is my go to Chocolate Hue kitchen. And it's got coconut sugar and it's just cacao butter, cacao powder and coconut sugar. That's it.
So here's what we're going to do. We're going to make this recipe. Now we've made a variation together before, just using raw cacao. There's ways you can do this. You could even use milk chocolate if you wanted to. But we're going to use the dark chocolate today because we want it to be dairy free and super low sugar and all the healthy things. So that's what we're gonna do. But this is the secret ingredient. You ready? Sun butter. Sunbutter made from sunflower seeds. So if you've got kids or you are allergic to nuts and seeds, you're gonna worship this product. I use it on everything lately.
Yeah. So this way they don't have to miss out on peanut butter when everyone, all their friends are eating peanut butter. Okay, so what are we doing? What are we doing? Okay, so first of all, we're gonna melt down Some chocolate, you guys, on low heat.
So take a pan. Yeah. And we made some ahead of time so we'd have some finished product to show you. So we had to avoid licking the bowl because that's what we wanted to do. Yeah. So we're gonna melt this down first.
And this chocolate melts down so well so it doesn't burn. You don't need a double burner. You can just put it straight in here on low heat. There we go. Yum.
You guys are gonna seriously.
Any chocolate lovers in the house? Hi. Thanks for all the love hearts, you guys.
We got a lot of new one. Let's see.
Hi, all.
Hi.
Yay. Awesome.
Oh, from Iowa.
Hi, Crystal from Iowa. If you're on right now, especially.
I'm on Facebook and Instagram right now. But if you're on Facebook especially actually Instagram too. Tell us who you are and where you're watching us from. Give us your name and where you're jumping in on from. Thank you. Yep.
Steliana said.
Hi.
Hi.
Hi, Anna. Hi, Sharon. Hi, Cindy. Yes, Cindy, you can use sun butter. Sun butter would count as a fat and a protein, actually, so you can use it as both. So it's ideal. I love using it as a part of my snack because you're gonna count. It's gonna count as a fat and a protein, really. And it's a healthy fat and a good for you protein. So I love using it. And it's an awesome nut alternative. Yes. Ready to melt it.
So we'll melt it on low and it just takes a couple minutes.
Tell them why low instead of high.
So we don't want the chocolate to burn, especially because we're not using a.
Double boiler, which by the way, Liana, I don't know if you're like a quick start like me, but at one time, real thing.
I would like.
This is so random, but I would. I would turn things up higher, thinking it'll cook faster. It doesn't work that way. What it does is it bubbles and it burns. Yeah, yeah, don't do that.
Some foods, if they cook too high, it can become toxic.
So. Yeah, sure thing.
Definitely. Want to listen to recipe books when they say low or high or medium, which I didn't.
I would like think by doubling the temperature it would cook it faster. It doesn't work that way. Say hi, Natasha. Hi, Paula. For those of you just joining us, we are making an alternative to peanut butter chocolate cups using sun butter with healthy for you dark chocolate. And these are so good. So step one.
Okay. So it melts.
Melt chocolate.
Here we go. It's melting down. And then we've got some jumbo paper cups here. So we're gonna make jumbo chocolate sun butter cups.
Yum.
You can make minis too. And those just pop in your mouth. Good little serving.
That's probably dangerous. Yeah, rather like a big one and then I cut it.
Yeah. Awesome. Also, you guys, you'll be happy to know that some butter has less saturated fat than peanut butter. Mmm.
That's got good fats. Yep.
Good fats and less bad fats.
By the way, fat is not a bad thing. So for those of you when we go too low fat, we're going to be hungrier. We are not going to be full. We get more cravings. So it's so important to add that fat and that protein.
Yeah, totally. We need good fats to nourish our brains. We have energy to keep going. We have energy to work out.
Say that. I love how she talks with her Australian accent. Nourish.
Nourish.
I learned one joke by the way, that has nothing to do with this. But I'm gonna share because I'm not good at doing accents. Are you. Can you do other accents?
I could do. Roger was a faster runner.
Oh, that's funny. How's that for me? Okay, but if you say raise up lights.
Raise up lights. Uh huh.
Raise lights. It sounds like razor blades. And it sounds like you're saying razor blades in Australian. Raise up likes. Raise up likes. It does, right? That's how I get my Australian accent.
You sound a little bit British. Well, hi, Adam.
Let's see. Oh, awesome.
Saw me on Jim Quick. Awesome. We love Jim Quick brain food. Yay. Awesome.
Omega 6.
Cool. So we're on Natalie Joel's Instagram and Facebook and we're also on my Instagram here as well. So.
Mel, melting chocolate.
Let's see.
Hi, Cheryl.
I'll show you guys this. Check that out.
Okay, so step one, healthy chocolate. The healthy chocolate that is step one.
Okay, I'm just going to turn up a tiny bit back here.
Okay. See, it does help to turn up the heat a little bit.
A little bit? Yep, a little bit. Start low and have the heat go up. Yay.
Okay, so we're making grain free, dairy free, nut free.
Non peanut butter cups. Yeah, the non peanut butter cups. Sunbutter cup. So a much healthier option. Allergy free to people that want like a Reese's peanut butter cup. They can't have that.
Yeah.
Because that's not so healthy. So this one's a totally healthy version. Dairy free, grain free, nut free. Because we're using sun butter.
Cool. Chocolate's almost melted. And this is something you guys can eat actually every single day because sunflower seeds are so high in vitamin E and they're so, so healthy for us. And also chocolate has been proven to be a functional food. So these two together are actually functional medicine. You know, good for your food.
Amazing. I love this. I know. I almost. Well, I'm not even gonna say that. If you get Liana's books, by the way, you're gonna be obsessed with snacks because she makes all of these snacks. Amazing. Yummy, unprocessed, natural, good for you snacks.
Okay, well, here we go. Ready? So the chocolate's melted. Look at this, guys.
Ooh.
Yay. So excited to eat. Okay, now I'm just gonna pour this in a cup here.
She's gone here on paper maybe if.
You want to lift up the chopping board maybe. Oh, there we go. Cool.
So she's pouring. So all she's doing, taking a paper cup. And you're gonna put the chocolate in there?
Yep, that's it. There we go.
So again, you can use any kind of chocolate, but we chose a dark, sugar free, dairy free chocolate to use for this one. It melts really well.
Okay, so there we go, guys.
So just a little bit like that.
Just a little bit at the bottom. And then next, while that's all melted, we're going to drop in some sun butter. There's so many different varieties of sun butter. So this one is just plain organic, nothing else added. It's just roasted sunflower seeds.
Crunchy one.
Crunchy. If you like crunchy. Creamy, creamy. And then there's a no sugar added. Yeah. And then there's a natural. So that one has salt. So you can pick. This one's my fave. Yeah. Okay, here we go.
Okay.
And I'm just gonna drop it into the cup.
Let's show it up here so I can see what's happening here. Okay, so see what she's doing here. We got the chocolate.
Okay.
And she's just dropping the sun butter.
In this right in the middle. And it's just like going straight into the chocolate.
So good.
So good. Oh, yum. Okay. Okay, now do the other ones here.
Let's go like this. Yeah, perfect.
We'll look at that.
Hi, Jane.
Hi, Sharon.
People from all over watching.
Hi, guys.
Yeah, feel free to ask your questions too.
Let's see.
Hi, Paula. Isn't so sun butter high in Omega 6?
It's high in the good fats, the good omegas. And also these two together are really high in magnesium. So the sunflower seed butter and chocolate thyme magnesium. And now I'm just gonna pour the chocolate on top to cover the sun butter.
So see what's happening. Mmm.
Homemade chocolate sunbutter cups. Woohoo. Okay.
So good. Oh my gosh.
And you can do a nice little swirl like that, make it all look pretty.
I'm tilting it though. I'm messing it up. Your pretty design can make like an L and an N and all the things.
Yeah. So there we go. And then we just pop that guys into the fridge or the freezer if you want to eat them like really quickly. So we just made chicken.
We made these this morning. They already like within not long. It was like 15 minutes. Yep, there they are. This is what it looks like.
So good. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Cool. All right, should we cut?
Yeah, let's cut one so they can see. I'm going to trade the bowls here.
So and so these could have been in the freezer a little bit longer, you guys. But let's see. And these are super giant. Oh, look at this.
Oh, what?
It's like, eat me.
Oh, guys, check that out. Look at that.
There we go.
Yum.
And because these are high in magnesium, they're a natural pain reliever. They reduce stress and they're just gonna make you feel so happy and no guilt.
So.
Yeah.
Should we eat this here? Yeah, we're gonna eat them. So, so easy. Let's take some questions here.
Okay.
Chrissy. Yeah. You're gonna definitely. Yes. She's so on keto. So she's definitely gonna order some butter.
Amazing.
Oh, perfect.
This is be gonna perfect for. If you're on keto, where can you can get it?
Really? Any natural food store?
They've got it. Guys, I've been 25,000 stores in America, Whole foods, any health food store, even just any supermarket actually has some butter.
Yeah, even the big box ones.
All right, so.
Oh my God. Wait, you want a quarter of that or whole? I want a little piece of it.
So. Okay, here goes. Look at this.
You guys jealous?
Check.
What?
Look at that. Oh my God.
So good.
So good. Breakfast. Breakfast with champions.
Hi. Yours. Yours is watching from Complete Wellness Medical Health center in New York City. Yeah, represent.
Somebody said, how about a little pink Himalayan salt on top? You could totally do that.
Totally. If you like salt.
Yep.
Add some little salt.
Or you could actually add some crunchy. Whatever you want. I mean, really add coconut if you wanted to make them pretty.
Yeah. Sunflower seeds to make it crunchy too.
How about that? So good. So what is the chocolate that was used? We today we use this. Can you see that?
It's hue chocolate. It's paleo. It's vegan. It's just three ingredients. Coconut sugar, cacao powder, cacao butter.
So, okay, so to recap, and then we're taking more questions for those. Okay, so all you do, you melt some chocolate. Number one.
Number one, melt chocolate.
We chose this because it's dairy free. It's dark chocolate, so you're gonna get all the benefits. And it's super low sugar. So that's what we chose for this. And it melts easily. We did not melt it in a microwave. We melted it on the stove top.
Oh, yeah. Don't use a microwave, you guys. It's a form of radiation, which I write about in my book as well, which is crazy.
Yeah, do it. It's so it takes. And it literally takes like, it's less than that. It was like a minute, right?
A minute.
Yeah. To melt it on the stove top. So do that first. That's step one. Step two, get some sun butter. All kinds to choose from. Salted, not salted, creamy, chunky. It's nut free, peanut free, grain free. All the things.
So it's a household staple for me. You can use it in any recipe that calls for peanut butter, especially Asian.
Cooking pad Thai noodles. Yeah. And actually I like it better than almond butter. It has more of a. I don't know, it tastes more like there's a little bit of a more salty flavor, more and more rich flavor.
Yeah, it's very. I think it's way more rich almond.
It's more comparable to peanut butter than I think almond butter is in a lot of ways.
Yeah, it's very unique. You know what someone said it's kind of like having if tahini and peanut butter had a baby.
Okay. If tahini and peanut butter had a baby.
I like that you would get some butter.
You're so funny. So, okay, so step one, melt the chocolate. Step two, you'll add the sun butter on top of that, and then on top of that you'll put more chocolate. And you can top with whatever you want. You can put Himalayan pink rock salt. Love that idea. Shredded coconut. You could do more sunflower seeds to add a crunch. You'll freeze them. It takes like maybe 10 minutes.
10 minutes to freeze.
And then you can keep them in.
The fridge after that. And then you should always have these on hand. If you Love the chocolate. Like melty, like nut buttery flavor.
You should always have these in your.
Freezer whenever you have a craving. Just go in there.
I love it.
Yum. Let's see.
What other questions. What chocolate is used? It was the dark chocolate. How. Let's see what chocolate everyone's asking. That pink camel. Yep. Could totally use that. Let's see, any more questions you all?
Has anyone tried Sunbatter? Who's watching? Would love to hear that. I'm so excited for you guys to try. If you haven't already tried it. It's just so much healthier than nuts. And in all of their nutritionals, and also from an environmental standpoint, it's way more sustainable. So sunflowers actually have roots that go up to 40ft in the ground to get water, so they barely take any water. And do you know how much water it takes to grow one almond? How much? 1.1 gallons.
I didn't know that. One almond.
It's on the Almond California association website. It's insane. When I found that out, I was like, feeling guilty of eating almonds. You know, it's so sustainable for the environment. So, yeah. So some butter, if you're earth, like earth friendly or environmentalist or you are wanting to lower your carbon footprint, then some butter is a way better option for that too.
So Christie's asking, can these be used in rubber molds?
Yes, you can.
Okay.
Yeah. So the same you can use paper cups or rubber molds. I like those environmentally friendly paper cups.
But yeah.
And Alice said her daughter loves sun butter and jelly sandwiches. Totally. And so this is like something that schools would be okay with. So schools that are nut free. This is different. This is a seed. So typically, kids that have nut allergy are not allergic to seeds. So that. And that's actually the background of how some butter really forms.
That's how they got started.
Yeah.
They wanted to provide a solution for the people who had nut allergies in America. So that's how they blew up.
Yay. So gluten free, dairy free, nut free. All the things. Yeah, all the things.
Yeah. Sun, butter and Jelly, or SB&J is so delicious. And we're gonna love that one too.
We're gonna type out the whole recipe on here too. So if you want to refer back to it, you can, especially for those of you on Facebook.
Yeah. Oh, yeah. So these can be keto fat bombs. Exactly. For people on keto, huh? Yeah. Keto fat bombs.
What's a fat bomb?
So that's where they. Well, kids keto focus on fat. Got it into foods, like, when they eat it. It's like fat bomb, right? Okay.
Correct me if I'm mistake mistaken, but okay, I had not heard that.
And you could even add more coconut oil or some other fats or butter even to these as well.
So Liana and I made these about a year ago, but when we did it a year ago, we did raw cacao, coconut oil, and then we used almond butter. And I will tell you, these tastes way better. Yeah.
So that was before we knew about sun butter and before this kind of.
Chocolate that melts easy. This is way better because using raw cacao and coconut oils tasted like coconut oil.
Yeah. Yeah. And it takes longer. It's so much easier if you just can get a good chocolate bar. Just melt it down like, boom. Yay.
Well, thanks, guys, for joining us. Sun Butter for the win. You can order it online. You can get it at any grocery store, Whole Foods, any. All the things.
Yep. Vitacost.com it's everywhere. So, yeah, enjoy it. Let us know if you make it and tag us if you make it, and we'll share your recipe pictures.
I love it. Yay. Thanks all.
Have a great week, guys. Bye.
