Ep 11 When Stillness Rewrites the Script A Conversation with Bill Walters

In this episode of Remembering the Forgotten, host Markus Neukom interviews financial professional Bill Walters, exploring how stillness, spiritual alignment, and personal authenticity intersect with financial wellbeing and life purpose. Bill shares a pivotal healing experience from 16 years ago when, after a double bronchial pneumonia diagnosis, he entered a sustained, prayer‑like dialogue with "Source" and was miraculously healed, illustrating his view that stillness is not passive quiet but an active, faith‑driven presence. He differentiates "Source" from traditional concepts of God, arguing that Source is a universal, gender‑neutral force accessible across belief systems. The conversation expands to an abundance mindset, emphasizing alignment with Source’s timing rather than forced manifestation, and critiques common financial advising scripts that prioritize hidden fees and rigid formulas, citing his own disillusionment with a 2001‑2007 plan and the 2021 GameStop episode. Bill also reflects on personal scripts, describing an eight‑year marriage entered for external validation that ultimately failed, and how breaking free led to greater clarity. Throughout, he stresses that energy resonance—being in alignment—attracts wealth and opportunities, and that mentorship should be relationship‑first, guiding others toward stillness and love. The episode concludes with a shepherd’s‑hook metaphor, portraying Source as an unlimited guide ready to pull individuals into alignment when they ask.

Welcome to Remembering the Forgotten, a space where leaders think out loud without polish or performance. No scripts, no personas, just the quiet clarity that emerges when noise drops and the mind is free to speak for itself. And today I'm joined by Bill Walters, a financial professional who has turned years of real-life experience into a mission to help families build stability that lasts. Before entering finance, Bill cared for his mother through 6 years of dementia, an experience that taught him how deeply clarity, planning, and support shape a family's well-being. He's someone who simplifies what others complicate. listens for what truly matters, and helps people move from scarcity into genuine possibility. Bill brings steadiness into moments that feel overwhelming and shows families how to create income that can live as long as they do. With that, Bill, thank you so much for joining my show. Thank you, Markus. And welcome.
Well, Markus, thank you for the, uh, the overwhelmingly kind— I'm humbled— uh, introduction. I appreciate you. Yeah, I appreciate you.
And yeah, absolutely, you know, you're welcome. And as I shared with you, I only have guests at the moment who I have a personal experience with. And each word that's there was for me experienced myself. So yeah, absolutely well deserved, Bill. Thank you. So before we begin— you're welcome. So before we begin, when I say stillness, I don't mean peace or quiet. I mean the place in you untouched by pressure, noise, or performance. The place that knows before the mind thinks. That's the layer I'm inviting you to speak from today.
Okay, I'm there.
Beautiful. So Bill, can you tell me about a moment when all the noise fell away and something in you knew exactly what was true?
Yes. I go back approximately 16 years ago. And I— it was around midnight. And it was raining really, really hard outside. And I had just come back from the doctor. And they told me I had double bronchial pneumonia. And I could not afford A, to miss time at work, and B, be sick, right? So I sat in, in my chair, and I opened up a direct dialogue with Source, and I prayed nonstop for 8 hours. So from midnight to 8 AM, and I wasn't exhausted. I was just swaying ever so lightly back and forth like this, like I'm doing now. And I just focused on my words and my intentions and my intentions for healing. And so I, I went through the night. I pleaded my case and the reason why I wanted to be healed. And the next day I went to a different doctor and got x-rayed. And then they asked me why I was there. And I said, because I was diagnosed with double bronchial pneumonia. And they said, well, The diagnosis is incorrect because you do not have single or double pneumonia. Your lungs are completely clear of fluid. And I said, and so it is.
And you knew better, huh?
Yes.
You did not question the diagnosis, number one, for a bit, I believe.
No, no. So it was, uh, It was an experience where I was able to experience love and light. And I didn't know exactly what I was doing other than opening up my heart. It was the beginning of my journey.
It's so interesting when you say you prayed. What did you pray to?
I prayed to Source or God. And, but it wasn't a typical prayer. It was just a conversation. And a conversation, sort of like that would happen in a court of law, where I'm presenting my case. And I am pleading that You know, A, I don't want to die. B, that without help, the prognosis is not good. C, unless you intervene, you the source, the road to recovery could be 3 months.
And
Wouldn't this be a great example of source over reality? Right? And then I just stayed in, in his presence. And so now I haven't ever really shared this story before. Because it didn't pop into my head, but you said to go into a moment of stillness. Well, So that's that moment of stillness. That's what happens.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. And I believe what it shows is stillness is not absence of action.
Right?
You didn't go into meditation and went into contemplation. You took action.
I took action. Based on faith, because faith is doing action without anticipation of response. You're not, you're not boxing Source into a corner and say, do this now. You're requesting guidance and help In a time of dire need, in order to overcome the speed bumps in the highway of life that have been put in front of you at that moment, and to have them removed in order to serve and be in alignment with how you're seen.
Our relationship level allows me to ask the next question. Would you have accepted if the answer was, you have to go through whatever comes next?
Ah, well, the answer is always yes. When I hear the whisper, the answer is, no matter what the question is, the answer is yes. And if it's in Divine guidance that I have to go through because there's something for me to gain. I have to trust it's for my greater interest long term, not for the instantaneous instant question and answer session. So yes, I would have, you know, if it required the suffering, then I would have done the suffering.
I love your answer because, you know, there is basically 2 schools of thought almost. One of them says, whatever I pray for or I ask will happen, which I personally believe is nonsense. It's childish hopefulness. But when you actually pray or whatever form you have to source, and then you actually expect that what you get as a result is the best thing that can happen to you, I believe that's the deepest form of stillness you could wish for.
Yes. Okay. The word that comes to mind for the one that is not exactly spot on is to manifest it, right? When you manifest And so it's just you hear the word, well, you know, I knew I needed the money, so I manifested it. Well, did you? Or was it just provided to you out of the goodness and gracious of Source's heart? Now, do I believe in abundance? Do I believe in abundance mindset? Yes, I do. Do I believe in mentoring others? Yes, I do.
I am sure they do.
But, but you're— but when you give in to an earthly concern and put worldly cosmopolitan viewpoint on it, you're kind of putting— you're kind of boxing up Source. And, and, and, and my viewpoint is, is that you can request it You can, you can think about it and, and it can be provided, but it's during thy timing, not my timing. And abundance does not always necessarily mean bank account abundance, right? And so it doesn't mean that you go out and buy your Mercedes-Benz loaded tomorrow when you're manifesting. It means that You line up all the things that are necessary to be done step by step for the possibility of being open to receiving.
A
completely different mindset.
Yes. Yeah, it absolutely is. And as you know, I grew up in, in an evangelical church, where people literally had the audacity to say, If I pray for healing, healing will come. And I said, it's a little bit short-sighted. So I kind of confused them when I showed them my way of manifesting, if you recall your, your words, thy will be done. They said, how can you do that? I know many people who listen to our conversation, they don't know that. But I totally take what I just said, thy will be done, as one part of my own success principle. But with time, I learned that. And, you know, I love to talk about Source, not so much about God, because God is a concept which is so much colored by man, mankind, right? But Source is something I believe a Hindu, a Buddhist, probably even an atheist actually can relate to. So that's why I love when, when you bring up Source, because, you know, I speak a lot of Source. And when we actually think that there is something higher than us, that kind of guides or leads our path. And whatever comes is the best for us. And I think I shared with you as well, I had my fair share of very hard lessons to integrate, where somebody else would have said, how did you even go on after that? Right. And so have you. And I believe that pretty much what molded us into who we are today.
Yes, the mold that you're describing is sort of like the proper formula to make the perfect, perfect cup of coffee, right? A certain temperature, a certain amount of grinding, and the precise measurement. The how long do you let the coffee percolate or seep, or depending the method you're using. And so there's all these things that have to be done in precise order. When you are being—
What's that?
Made, made in an image or aligned with Source's intent, the learning Is shared with you so that when you're able to mentor and help others, you can draw from your experience in order to foster and guide them to be the best version with Source's help.
Mhmm.
And, and he doesn't need you for the help. He's giving you the joy of allowing you to participate in what he does without our knowledge on a daily basis. Right. And so it's sort of like a mom teaching a daughter how to cook, and it takes an extra 35 minutes in the kitchen, but she's learning and it just doesn't taste just quite right, but it's still good. It's the process of learning because now you can do it too.
Yeah, I understand that. And you know what's interesting? While I was smirking is the he. We have a lot of females listening to our show.
Mm-hmm.
And I know how you use it. And at the same time, I just realized, what if it is actually a she? Because there is so much loving energy, nurturing energy, So what would be a forum to kind of leave the, you know, the, the sex part? Is there a language which you personally have found? Because I assume that quite a few, um, women who are quite advanced would take, um, offense in that healing language. Have you ever thought of that?
I would say, Miss Snowflake, do not let the kind words that I'm expressing affect you, that there's no participation trophies in what we're doing together. And if it offends you, it's okay. I can be the bigger person and say Source Also, I could say you could watch the movie The Shack. And in The Shack, Source is portrayed as a male, a female, and I don't know. So it's all good in the end.
Love that. Did he Source?
Right? Right. Yes.
I love that.
So in the movie and in scenes that are full of tenderness and kindness and love, God is cooking and preparing a perfect meal, right? When someone is painting in the background, it's an— it's a younger version of a female. When, when there's carpentry work being done, it's a middle-aged male with expertise in carpentry, and it's all the same source. So it's all good. But if it's—
Interesting.
So again, it's not about taking offense. It's just how I chose to express my relationship. It doesn't define their relationship.
Yeah.
But as I also stated, don't be like a snowflake.
Yeah.
Don't get easily ruffled. Yeah.
It's not about words in the end. Right.
It's about concepts of love and light. Yeah. Right. And that's what this is. This is love and light.
Yeah. And I love that you mentioned that. Is it a movie you said, right?
Yeah, it's called The Shack.
The Shack. How do you spell that?
S-H-A-C-K.
Okay, so The Shack. Got it. Okay. Yeah, I definitely want to watch it because I love how they integrate basically every element into it. So I was just curious how you see it because I know many people use he Without ever giving any thought. But you have, I know that. That's why I, that's why I asked. So it's interesting. So you mentioned that you mentor a lot of people and I know you do. I even met people you mentor. The one thing I assume that you have seen as well in your daily work, Bill, is that people live from someone else's script. Right, especially with money. Do you remember a time when you realized, hmm, I, Bill Walters, are actually living by someone else's script? And what I'm especially interested, Bill, is what cracked it open?
This— geez, I would say it was 2001.
Okay.
And I was told by someone that in order— I won't mention their name because they're a professional, right? But I'll just say someone—
Mm-hmm.
In order to get where I need to be, In, in retirement, I just need to do A plus B equals C. And so I said, okay. So I followed that strategy. And in 2007, when I looked at the results, I noticed that what was promised in that formula was not delivered. And I questioned it, and I said, you said all I would need is to do these 2 things and it would equal exactly where I wanted to be. Well, I did those 2 things, and based on the illustrations versus the actual results, they're North and South Pole apart, and there wasn't really any real growth Or the only monies that were there were what I contributed. When you subtracted the commissions earned and you subtracted the, um, hidden fees, the only person truly making money was the person who designed the plan. And that's when the light bulb went off. That was the first light bulb.
Okay.
The second light bulb was recent, in the last 3 years, when a stock that was traded called GameStop was opened up and all these kids bought GameStop stock through Robinhood, and the price basically went up 15x in one 24-hour period, and it got deregulated by the commission And all these kids made big, big money, and they had their money returned to them from the original investment because the 10 big investors were on the wrong side and they disallowed the trade. And it was at that point that I realized that the stock market is not something to be trusted at instant gratification phase, but only from a distance. Sort of like how you would watch stars from a telescope, right?
Mm-hmm.
You participate indirectly because you have no direct control. You're not controlling the stock market. Therefore, you participate only in the market upside and not the market downside, and you take precautions. So that's what I learned in those 2 instances, and they're different but the same. Right, that I am following someone else's plan, and not my own.
Have you ever experienced it as well in your personal life script, that you realized, okay, I'm on a trajectory, but that trajectory doesn't really resonate so much where I felt I would go? And then you realized it was because of I followed. Did that happen as well?
It did. It happened. Do
you mind sharing a bit?
Sure. It happened in my marriage. I was told that I needed to be married to this person in order to be perceived By the church and by public that we were living virtuous, a virtuous lifestyle, right?
Heard of that. Yep.
Yep. And so we in essence got married for all the wrong reasons, and. And then the marriage lasted 8 years, um, of which I would say 7 of them were too long, right? And the moment that I was broken free from that, life returned back to normal and the stage of happiness kicked back in.
Which is incredible if you think about that, right?
Yes. I— what I'll share with you is that 90% of what I own, 90%, I gave because I have the ability to make it back up. And I gave with a free and clear heart. And they're only possessions. And even though there were things that were passed down to me through generational gifting from my parents and grandparents, I happily turned them over and created so that there's no rift. There's no hardness of my heart. There's no negativity. There's nothing. It doesn't— it's a null set. It does not exist. Because when you operate out of fear or control or negativity or want and not out of love, your decisions put out a vibration or a calibration or a frequency, and the universe responds because it wants to what you're requesting, and you get put into more situations that are negative. And, and, and then this created a different circumstance because you're, you're operating out of light and love. And so your frequency and the people you attract come into your life that bring you blessings by their presence alone. Right?
Mhmm.
And, and the more you surround yourself with like-minded, open, aware, and kind people, the greater your wealth here grows.
Would you say it has to do because of resonance attracts wealth versus non-resonance repels wealth, as is to do with the energetic thing somehow?
Oh, it definitely has to do with energy.
Which so many people don't understand, right? Because that's why you say the wealth gets replenished, because in the end, it is energy. It's manifested resonance.
The wealth comes not when you expect it or demand it or you proclaim it. The wealth comes when it's supposed to come. And when it's the least amount of effort, you're not— someone offers you an opportunity to do something small, you say yes. And then because of that introduction or that opportunity, 6 other things happen in a positive format. And it's because you said yes, you put out that Frequency, and
the
universe responds. Right? So am I saying to buy land in Brooklyn from somebody you don't know? No, not saying that. What I'm saying is, is there will be opportunities presented to you that just make sense, and they agree with your personality. They agree with your alignment, and then that blessing of knowing. leads to other blessings and it multiplies.
It's beautiful. I'd like to add a thought to that, and I believe it's important for the viewers to hear that when we pray for wealth, or when we ask for wealth or manifest wealth, quite often the universe or life shows us the stuff that first has to change For us, in order to be able to receive. Have you ever experienced that?
Are there grains of sand on the beach?
That's exactly it. Yes. And people see that as the universe denies it to me, or the universe denies me happiness. Say no, no, no, no, no. It's just not. straight line. Because you first have to, like, you know, balance stuff out a little bit. And that's why it comes down to thy will shall happen. And everything that happens to you actually happens for you in the end. I mean, it's just that switch itself already changes the trajectory of someone's life.
Okay, I'm gonna give you a constant that may open some of the viewer listeners' eyes. If you're being if you're being condescending, if you're being judgmental, if you're criticizing, take a deep breath and say those things and look yourself in the mirror because realistically. You're judging yourself. And when you stop judging and promoting negative word usage out of your mouth, the endless barrage of negativity leaves, and only positive things come out of your mouth. And that's when it starts the wheels in motion for the other direction. So you remove the log from your eye, or you remove the negative thoughts from your mind, and you just switch the mindset to genuine kindness, right? And now if something's bothering you, then just change your vision. You're not— you don't want to look over in that direction, then you don't. You look over here and you see the beauty, and you change your, your thought process, right?
Right. But it's pretty much the driving process, right? What you focus on, you'll hit.
Correct.
That's just a phenomenon, which is so incredible. But it literally, you know, like absolutely shows how life works. What we focus on, we absolutely attract. So this leads me, leads me to a question which I know many people are asking right now after they heard you. What can still pull you out of yourself, meaning out of stillness? And what lets you return?
What lets me return is getting back in alignment and focusing on light and love. What, what hurts my focus is getting sidetracked with a to-do list instead of focusing on the task at hand, which is right in front of me. And so—
Fascinating.
Right?
The to-do list can become noise.
Yes. And then from that noise, you You excited, you get sidetracked, and then next thing you know, that noise becomes speed bumps and more speed bumps and more speed bumps when you don't need them. And you got to take a deep breath and say, okay, I'm not focused on the right thing. So please focus me. Or align me with how you see me, so I can get back on the right track and help the people and make a difference in the lives I touch. Because that's my purpose. My purpose is to help everyone who I interact with be one percent better or improve or to to change their mindset. Because how many financial advisors talk like this?
I'm probably not many at all.
Maybe one. Me. And that's it. Because it's so important to be in the stillness, to be in Source's presence, and to feel the love and the light come in and fill you up so that you can share and make a difference and be an asset to somebody. Right? And that's the key thing.
I'm going to make a very interesting introduction to you. I believe you guys will absolutely hit it off, and he is a reformed financial advisor, so you two will hit it off. But they are not that many. I know that much.
Very, very difficult because you're under a quota and constant pressure to. close and use, uh, and use certain strategies. And I say out loud all the time, let's do what's best for you.
And
it might not be planning, it might be budgeting, it might be removing the problems that are clouding up your brain, making the right decisions. Let's work on that together first.
Right.
Because Suppose we do the right things and it all works out, but the mindset is wrong. And they— and then it's like the people that win the lottery and they spend it all in the first 18 months and they have nothing left because they weren't in a position to receive.
Mm-hmm.
Okay. And, and you have to be in the right mindset to receive the love and guidance. Otherwise, it's the Charlie Brown And wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah, and it goes in one ear and out the other, and it doesn't do the good and the intended purpose of good.
You mentioned something before; you used the word alignment. Mm-hmm. So let me do a litmus test on your theory. Is it fair to say, Bill, that if someone is in alignment? The right action and the right direction will follow. Versus you can change your direction as long as you want to, and you can be in that hamster wheel and perform actions and actions and actions. However, the alignment is not given, that it basically becomes a daily grind. Versus otherwise, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Yes, the alignment allows it to actually not be work, that it flows, it flows naturally, and you're not running the hamster wheel. When you're on that hamster wheel, you're hitting your Goals, dreams, and desires, but you're exhausted, you're tired, you're miserable. You might not even know it because you're working. And one day you wake up and it's ten years later, and you're like, "What the heck am I doing with my life?" As opposed to it was way easier, less work, and more alignment. More alignment means five good meetings. Versus 12 meetings.
Mm-hmm.
Meeting with a purpose, meeting with a goal, meaning relationship, relationship first, or relationshipping as opposed to networking, and, and aligning the introductions that lead to greater things that help people. And in the end, Isn't that what it's all about, making a difference?
Absolutely. And, you know, that's when most of the times people end up at my doorstep because the question is, is this as good as it gets or is there more to my life? Comes up as this wee little voice. Some people call it intuitions and call it souls and call it whatever. And it turns out to become a bullhorn. That can't be ignored anymore, which is incredible when, when that happens. So, Bill, we are already coming quite to the end of our conversation, which I so much enjoy. I could continue an hour more. So if someone is listening and feels lost in the noise we just talked about, what is one thing you want them to remember? Is still true.
Okay, I'm gonna give them a visual. Okay?
Please go ahead.
Do you know that if you're a person that herds sheep and you're a shepherd, you know the staff has a hook on it, right? And Mm-hmm. Sheep are not very smart, so when they stick their head into water to drink, they put their whole head in, and eventually the weight of the water soaks their fur and they go into the stream or creek or lake and they have to be rescued. And the shepherd runs downstream and uses the hook, and that's why it's shaped like that, to pull them in, to herd them in, to Save you.
Mm-hmm.
Right? So just think of it in this concept. The shepherd's limited by the length of the hook and his arms. Source does not have any limitations. So when it's time to get in alignment, all you have to do is ask, because he's there, or she's there, or they are there to pull you in.
Beautiful ending. Bill, thank you so much for being my guest today. It was a great pleasure having you.
Pleasure was all mine.
This was Remembering the Forgotten, a conversation held in clarity, not performance. And if something in this exchange helped you see differently, carry that forward.
