Nicolas Korvessis presents the "3 W's" framework: who does what by when. After every meeting, assign a specific person to a task with a deadline. He warns against hasty promises and says it's better to commit to a later deadline you can beat than to overpromise.

Let's talk about the 3 W's that will skyrocket you and your team's productivity. It's who does what by when. That's as simple as it gets, and after every meeting and when we talk about a task or a project that needs to be done, we always end the conversation with who does what by when. It really establishes a clear precedent for who needs to get that thing done, what exactly they're working on, and who they need to talk with, as well as when that should be done. So if that task or project needs to be handed on to the next person, that person coming up next is holding the other person accountable on the team to make sure that that project is done. And another quick tip, whenever you're deciding your who does what by when, make sure that you pause and you think about it. I'm guilty, and I know a lot of other people are very guilty of just promising something quickly without thinking about it. So it's better to promise something that'll be done later and actually get it done sooner than the opposite way around.
