What if you could see the exact targeting that your competitors are using to actually deliver their ads to your competitors, to your potential customers, or even just to yourself? And what if you could then take those interests or take that data to feed and give you really, really good ideas for your own advertising? So in this video, I wanna show you exactly how to do that. It's actually a very simple process. It's changed over the years, but for overall, for the, overall sake of this video, it's essentially gonna be the same for the foreseeable future unless something changes. I'll let you guys know in the comment section. However, it's super simple. And the purpose of this is, let's say you're here inside of your ads manager, whether it's YouTube, Facebook, Google, whatever, whatever it is, coming up with interest targeting can be something that really just plagues a lot of people and they get stuck in making a decision. And what interests should I target? And I think that's one bad area to get stuck in. And that's because Facebook is slowly moving away from more interest targeting and they're not having as many interests. I personally don't believe they're gonna take all of them away. But I think there will be fewer and fewer of them. And it really does come down to the actual ad that you are running. Your ad needs to grab people's attention. Your ad needs to convey a clear value proposition and show why you are better than someone else. If you're simply relying on media buying tactics, and what audiences to target more than the actual content of the ad, that's where you're probably gonna lose to other people. Because at the core of everything, the basics is really what matter and will really make the biggest difference. And that comes down to what your ad looks like, what your ad is saying, all that kind of good stuff. So I wanna show you how you can actually look and see who your competitors are targeting in their ads. And that should give you good ideas for who you can go after and how you can write copy and how you can craft ads to deliver to those very specific people. So it's a super simple process and I've got one teed up already here. I got an ad from someone and basically all you do when you see this ad is you hit these 3 dots right here and hit, why am I seeing this ad? Now, depending on the advertiser and depending on what they're doing, depending on your Facebook profile, there are some different factors here. You're gonna be able to see exactly what choices the advertiser made into who they wanna show their ad to. And this can be super useful, cuz like I said, if you're stuck at that audience selection stage and you just don't know who to pick, you're just having a brain fart that day. This is a really, really useful trick. So you get to this point and you can click on advertiser choices. And you can see here that the advertiser has chosen to show ads to people who may have had interest in Lewis Howes, Howes, maybe pronouncing that wrong, Brendan Burchard as mainly the, the 2 people, right? So I may have shown interest in 1 or 2 of these odd authors or podcasters to see who I'm actually interested in. And Facebook then delivered that. They also set the age to 18 and under. Obviously you can see based on my birthday. And then as a primary location in the United States, which I am in. So super, super cool. You can really see that kind of a thing very quickly. And then you can even see, which a lot of people miss out on in, in the your activity, they're also showing this to me because I've potentially interacted with ads about marketing, business solutions, and health and wellness. And I interacted with pages and posts about business solutions. That's why they're also targeting me. So they've probably targeted health and wellness, some kind of business solutions, and then definitely these choices here that they have selected. Super interesting stuff. That's one example. I'm just gonna keep scrolling down for a little bit and see if I get hit with another ad right here. Great. And you can hit that and you can hit, why am I seeing this ad again? Advertiser choices, interests. You can see how many interests are here. Really, really good because if you didn't think to go after these people yourself, this gives you ideas and this shouldn't be like a, copying off of each other's paper kind of a thing. It should be there to give you inspiration. You can try these out, but once again, the biggest and most important thing is making sure that your ad is delivering to the right person because of your copy and your creative, and it's talking to your ideal customer because of your specific offer, so on and so forth. So this is cool. I can see here that the advertiser chose this group of interests, which is awesome. I can see that they set the age between 24 to 55. And primary location in the US. Super, super cool, right? Let's do one more to show you guys kind of what this looks like. It's a super useful trick. It's very, very cool. A lot of people don't really use it, but it is really useful. So here's another one. 3 dots here. Why am I seeing this ad? And if we go to advertiser choices, ah, so check this out. Someone uploaded a hash list with my information to Facebook, right? And then because I was on that list, apparently, boom, I got this right here. So I may not be on this list. I actually don't know, but that's really funny. I mean, you can see that here. Super, super interesting. So that's a really, really good one. Let me see if there's anything else. I want to find one more. Let's go here. Why am I seeing this ad? Advertiser choices. So you can see this one is just super, super simple. Nothing that crazy for advertiser choices. Your activity is always a good one too. Don't forget about this one 'cause you can see like business, business solutions and design. So this is a really, really useful trick to just see if you're getting targeted with ads. What did they choose? It should give you some really good ideas. And then when you go back to the Ads Manager, you can then pick those, try some different ones, because I think one of the easiest ways to kind of get out of the whole which interests do I pick, find one or two that you like, hit the suggestions button here, and just start picking away. Pick as many as you'd like, and then what you can do is you'll whittle it down eventually to between 3 to 5, and then that'll give you a really good idea of of, and a really good sized audience for your ads specifically.
