Should You Boost Instagram Posts In 2025?

Boosted Instagram posts work best for awareness and engagement, not conversions. Expect to pay $0.20-$1 per page visit or $0.40-$1.50 per new follower. Use them to grow an audience first, then retarget those users in Ads Manager for sales.

Should you be boosting your posts in your paid marketing strategy if you want to get better results? The answer is going to be a maybe. And in this video, I'm going to answer that question by showing you where boosted posts should fit inside of your paid ad strategy, if they should be in your paid ad strategy, some pros and cons of each, whether you're boosting it or running it from the ads manager. And we'll go from there. Now, a lot of people will tell you that boosting posts is essentially you burning cash. Now that's neither here nor there because it really does depend on your specific business and what goals you actually want to achieve. The first thing that I want to go over, kind of a pro-con back and forth a little bit, is if you're boosting posts, like let's say you're here in this section, you're about to boost a post. This is kind of a watered-down section of it as well. You can boost it from your phone or from the Meta Business Suite. The first thing is that boosting your posts doesn't give you complete control over placements, audiences, or at the end of the day, real campaign objectives. Now sometimes that can be a pro, sometimes that can be a con, and I'll get into it. But as a whole, I think it's actually a con because if you're using it to send people to a page, like a landing page, a website or something like that, it's a bad idea. Boosted posts are not meant to do that. It should not be made to promote a webinar you're doing. It shouldn't be made to promote and get people to book a call with you. Boosted posts are meant for awareness and engagement more than anything else. And even on the engagement side of things, you will get better options by running an engagement, objective here on the backend in the Ads Manager. Now, from the audience standpoint of things, you can see here, you've only got a couple of options. You can choose automatic where you let Instagram target people like your followers, which can be useful. And then you do have some custom audience options where you can do like a lookalike or a custom audience of a list of people that you have in your world. You can also do some lookalikes and some small detailed targeting options, but it is nowhere near as robust compared to if you were doing it in here inside of actual, um, the ads manager as well. So it's a really important thing to kind of understand is that you're not gonna get the same results. You're not gonna be able to target the exact same kind of people in the same capacity if you were to do it through the ads manager. So that's the first thing. And it's essentially like making and asking Facebook to spend your money a little bit blindly. And the biggest reason is just because of the objective. When you are boosting a post, whether you're doing it from Instagram or in here, The main objective that you can really tell Facebook and Instagram to do is just to send people to a specific location, which is great. Now I'll kind of— this will go perfectly into the pros. The best area and the best use case that I see using boosted posts is to boost your engagement on posts on your profile. So to get more likes, comments, and even follows, and going right into that is actually to get new followers into your world. We see if you boost the right posts and you do it consistently, that we'll be getting followers between 50 cents to $1 or $1.50 per new follower, which is pretty solid. And if you just have that running on autopilot, it's a great addition and a great supplement that you can have in your ad strategy, but it should not be the end-all be-all. The most important thing is to take these boosted posts, run them to some certain posts, spend between $5 to $10 a day. I wouldn't recommend starting with $3K a day. And from there, what you can do, is you can get all those followers through the board, all those people in your Instagram, all that engagement happening. And then here in the ads manager on the backend, that's where you can actually retarget them and use them for an actual conversion objective in your business. Once again, biggest area to use boosted posts are to get profile visits to your page. And because of that, you'll get more followers, more engagement, et cetera. You'll see with this example here, we boost a ton of different posts and they're all optimized just to get people to the page. And we pay between, I'd say like 20 cents, maybe move all this out of the way, uh, 20 cents to like a dollar to get someone to the page. And then we'll get a follower between, I'd say like 40 cents to a dollar on this page. And if we're boosting a ton and a ton and a ton of them, we end up getting some pretty solid results across the board. So it's really important when you're boosting posts, it should not be your main ad strategy. It should be a supplement to the main thing that you're doing. If you enjoyed this video, click below.
