Simple Facebook and Instagram Ad strategy generated $80k in profit

Nicolas Korvessis breaks down a case study where $29,408 in ad spend generated $80,000 profit through systematic testing of creative assets and ad hooks. He shows the month-by-month results (645 leads, 22 sales at $5,000 each) and explains how to organize campaigns, track variations in a shared doc, and scale creative volume as spending increases.

In October, one of our partners that we've been working with on paid ads has hit $80,000 in profit this past month from this really simple paid ad strategy that I want to share with you in this video. I want to go over really the core elements that allowed us to hit this really cool milestone. I want to show you the lead-up and the ramp-up to it so you can actually have some realistic expectations. And let's just get right into it. So first things first, I just want to show you the data. So overall, from this past month, we spent $29,408. We generated 645 leads, 136 booked calls. This is a higher ticket offer of around $5,000. And then from those booked calls, 61 of them showed up, 22 sales. So there's obviously some small levers and things that we can look at improving immediately if we're looking at analyzing it immediately. However, as a whole, this is great spending $29,000, generating about $110,000 in revenue, $80,000 in profit. is really, really great. And this didn't happen immediately over the first month. And I want to show you that lead-up because I think it's really important to understand that when you're building a business or when you're trying to grow the business, it's not always linear. Month 1, from month 1 to month 3, or so on and so forth, it's not always linear when you're starting to scale spend, when you're starting to bring on maybe more affiliates, more partners, all that kind of good stuff. It's not always linear. There's usually some kinks to figure out. And I want to share with you what we did to kind of break through those plateaus. So that's the data. And let me show you kind of what this looked like over the course of the past month. So this is last month. If we filter back here to September, so let's back up here a little bit. Spend was at $20,000. So we didn't bump spend too much. We only spent about $9,000 more and made Close to $20,000 more in profit. Big area and big lever that we really looked at adjusting was the cost per booked call, the showed calls, and then just the sheer number of booked calls that we had. This past month we had 136 versus in September we had 93. I could even back up. I think I've got data in here for the previous month. And that's still not that bad. Hitting that profit target is really not too bad at all. You can see the previous month we're down a little bit. Right? $17K spent, $5K in revenue. This is not totally accurate for revenue numbers. I think we were maybe closer to around breakeven. But you can see how the spend scaled, right? $17K in spend gone to $20K and then to $29K. And it's not always linear. And even if this was accurate with this profit number, that's actually totally normal in some cases to happen. But it wasn't, it wasn't this bad. I promise you can ask the client yourself. But overall, I just wanna share that. Before I move on and show some of the ad stuff, if you guys like the look of this dashboard, this is a custom developed dashboard that we've been working on internally for some time now. So if you're interested in it, just drop a comment below. I'll reach out to you, get your email, or just email me. And if you're interested, I can hook you up and you can be like an initial beta tester. Anyway, so that's the data. Now, what, what actually accounted for this and what can you do in your paid ads to find similar results or to set you up on a path to get results similar to this? It really just comes down to testing. Testing equals more scale. And I really break it up into 2 different areas, asset testing with creative copy and audience, and then hook and variant testing, different hooks. I wanna show you what that looks like in the ad manager, but I think a big thing to understand is with Facebook's new updates, everyone's been talking about this and I haven't spoken much to it because it's just how I've been operating for such a long time anyway. The messaging in the creative and in the copy is what's gonna attract the right person. So the more that you can dial those elements in, the better. So when we look at creative, what can we do there? Image, image ads, video ads, carousel ads. You could do more short, short form, like GIF style ads that are just like on a, on a constant rotation. And then from that, you can have a ton of different variants that kind of sprout off of that, right? If you have an image ad, you could do different headlines. If you have a video ad, you could do a different hook. You could just do a different hook of the copy. You can test different audiences, genders, interests, et cetera. The more different combinations that you can combine of all these different assets, the better things are gonna look for you. And what I really like to do is you can organize it in a similar way like this. I like to have one dedicated campaign that sole purpose is just testing. And I have recently been liking to start things off in one ad set, multiple ads per ad set. If you have more budget, I would definitely recommend splitting them up. So it's a more even test, but even if not, and then you can follow a similar naming convention to this. You can have your image ad, your video ad, and your carousel ad, and then the different hooks that you're testing. So your hook 1, hook 1, hook 2. And then for example, if I'm on video ad 1, hook 2, you could say it's also headline 1. Um, and maybe, well, the hook would be the video. So you could also do like lead-in. So lead 1, right, for the copy. Then what you can do is you can have just a simple Google Doc or Google Drive or a Notion doc is what we do. And we have all of our video ads sorted, we have the hooks sorted, headlines, and then the lead-ins of the copy. It's really important to get this granular because then if you can go back to your CRM, whether it's for sales or for booked calls or whatever it is, and attribute and figure out, okay, well, These 2 are getting great costs, but anything that has hook 2 is just crushing it. The biggest thing to remember is that the more visible the piece of your ad is, right? Like the headline, the very first few seconds of the video, the actual lead-in of the copy, it's like the first few sentences of the copy. That's what's gonna make the biggest difference. That's what's gonna be the biggest lever for you to make more adjustments and really improve the ads. So yes, creative is important, but don't overdo it. Just change the hook. Just change the front end, the first few seconds of the video. Or just the headline of the image ad, or even just the colors. Something small like that can make a huge difference. And not enough people do it. In the copy, don't write a whole new piece of copy. Just change the first 3 sentences. Just change the first sentence. That's going to make a huge difference all in itself. Audiences, you don't have to go crazy testing. Just try a different gender. Just try a different age range. Don't even bother with interests. If you're just giving Facebook more opportunities to try different things, you're going to see different results. And as your spend scales, your creative should scale. This is more or less an example, but it should look like this. You should be having more creatives even as spend goes up, right? So like if I were to edit this, if spend were to go up from $30 to $60, your creatives should probably scale more so from like $70 to $100, right? And I think it's so important to understand that, that you should constantly be shipping more more creatives, more assets that you're testing in more different ways because people are gonna resonate with things in different ways for your product that you're selling, right? So that's really important. Really short video this time around, but I just wanna put something out there that's really direct, to the point, and just go start testing. Go start testing. Go start testing different hooks, lead-ins, all that kind of good stuff. I hope you enjoyed this video. More videos to come here in the future.
