Stop Scaling Your Facebook Ads Wrong (Do This Instead For More $$$)

Scale profitable Facebook ad sets by increasing daily budget 10-20% if they're spending 80-90% of budget and hitting targets. Duplicate winning sets with micro-variations to push spend higher, then move top creatives into bid-cap campaigns with odd-number cost-per-result goals for even bigger returns.

In this video, I want to give you a simple method to scale your Facebook ads. I've had some other videos on my channel where we talked about horizontal scaling, which is scaling ads by just creating new assets. In this video, I want to show you how you can scale some of your ad campaigns, maintain the cost per result that you want while increasing the volume without making anything new and by just leveraging some media buying tricks. So let's get right into it. And I'll kind of show you a few different ways that you can actually vertically scale some of your ad campaigns. So first things first, let's just identify a few ad sets here. And I'm just using this for a straight up example. And let me show you what exactly we could do here. So let's say we've got this ad set here, which is working very, very well for us. It's getting me sales at $54 a sale, which in my case, for the thing that I'm selling is profitable. That's awesome. Now I wanna scale it. What are the few ways that we can do this? So first method is by simply just increasing the budget. Now if it's getting sales at the cost that you want to consistently, and how I like to look at it is, okay, let's look at the past 7 days. Looks good. Let's look at yesterday and then let's look at the past 3 days. If they're all kind of within that range, you can see past 3 days it's been a little bit of a fluke. Yesterday we got a sale, day before we did not, day before we did not, which is kind of throwing it for a loop. However, the past 7 days gives us a big picture. Even with those 2 or 3 days where it was not looking too great, the average is still exactly where I want it to be, which is awesome. And then today nothing's happened yet, which is fine. So if that's the case, there's a few things to do here. If all those boxes are being ticked and there's maybe only 1 day in there and the average overall for the past 7 days is good, You wanna bump your daily spend up between 10 to 20%. As long as it's hitting those ranges, you wanna make sure you do that. Another very important thing that you need to check before you just raise the budget is check the spend. We've set this to spend $43 a day. It has spent $43 a day, which is great. Let's say you set this to $43 and it only spent $20 or $30. That means it is in no way, shape, or form ready for it to be scaled up. And I see that mistake. This is a mistake that people make all the time. They see something that's working and they just wanna triple the budget. You're just gonna kill your optimization and spend way too much money and not get any results from it. Make sure you're scaling once it's actually spending the amount that you want it to spend, right? At least up to 80, 90% of that spend, you're in good shape to actually scale that thing up. So that's the first way. Second method to vertically scale is simply by duplicating it with micro variations. So what we would do in this case is we would duplicate this thing. And what this actually allows you to do is increase the budget a lot higher than you would, more than that 10 to 20% range safely. So let's say you duplicate it, keep everything the same, and we'll simply just raise the budget, right? We're effectively increasing the budget by an extra $56 a day just by raising it 10, 20% on $40 is nowhere near to that, right? And now if you'd like to, you can make some really small micro variations. Like you could remove this, And you can maybe tweak the age ranges just a little bit, right, to kind of reset the initial conditions. Um, you could also just change the placements up to use Advantage. You can make small micro changes. I wouldn't recommend more than 3 micro changes. All the micro changes that you could tweak are, um, age ranges, placements, and headline are things that I would probably look at testing, right? Once you're happy with that, you can hit publish and you're good to go, right? So that's a very easy way once again to vertically scale these things. The next vertical scaling method you can use is simply by using bid capping. So what that kind of looks like, and before you do this, is you want a handful of winners. So I'm just gonna look for this year, which ads have really resulted in some good performance for us. And maybe these 2, they're not the best, but they're good enough. And I could actually go ahead and even just use this one. Make sure I'm picking the right one. Yeah, I'll bump that one up too. So you at least want a handful of winners. This is just an example. You would duplicate them into a brand new campaign. And call it whatever you want to call it, but this is basically you're taking your winners and you're putting them in a bid cap. This isn't— we've discussed like the bully method on my channel. This isn't the bully method. This is specifically just taking winners and putting a hard bid cap on them to get them to perform as best as you can, right? So let's go ahead. Let me just pause real quick and I'm going to pick which creative I want to use. Okay, so I'm gonna go ahead and use these 2. And what you're gonna do is you're gonna set the budget on this fairly high. So if you're okay with getting sales at, let's say, $50 per purchase, you probably wanna have that at at least triple your budget, at at least triple that allowable CPA. So in this case, I'll do $150 budget. And another neat trick that I like to teach people is use, use odd numbers wherever you can. And then for the campaign bid strategy, we want to change that to a cost per result goal, right? You're only using this for winners. Another really great feature that I don't see a lot of people using, which is newer, is using this increase your budget during specific time periods. Try turning that on, right? So if you know you're going to have anticipated volume during certain times, right, you could even do from Today through the end of the month. Let's do tomorrow, right? And you could allow it to increase the budget by $20, right? Try that out. It works really, really well. You're keeping it a little bit broad for now, but I've seen this recently. It's a new feature that they've added in that have worked really, really, really well. Now the next thing you're gonna do is choose your bid cap. Now you really wanna put in what you're aiming for here. So if you wanna get purchases at $50 a purchase, I'd probably give it a little bit of wiggle room. Um, and you could maybe even do like an odd number here. I'm okay with $57. That's not that bad at all, right? And then you'll go ahead and publish it. Once again, you've effectively increased your daily budget by that much. Now, even though you set your budget here to $150, in this case, $153 a day, um, it's not gonna spend that much because the bid cap is so low. It's really not gonna spend a ton of money. It— these actually serve as very great hedges against all the other testing that you're doing. And if you can have a great bid cap campaign, once again, I recommend you at least have 2 winners that are inside of here. That's where they're really gonna perform the best. So those are just a few ways that you can vertically scale your ad campaigns once you've found some winners. And if you're looking to raise the budget without just destroying your cost per result, these are a great way to do it. Let me know if you have any questions about this stuff.
