The Only Facebook Ads Strategy You Need To Test And SCALE

In this tutorial, Nicolas Korvessis presents a fast, low‑design‑skill method for testing Facebook (and other platform) ad creatives. He demonstrates a minimalist "iPhone Notes" style creative where only the headline changes across 4‑5 variants. All variants are placed in a single campaign and ad set, allowing the platform’s algorithm to allocate the shared budget toward the early‑performing headlines based on click‑through rates. This approach quickly surfaces winning copy without the need for equal spend on each variant, reduces wasted budget, and can be scaled by turning the winning headline into richer formats like video ads. The video also dispels the myth that ads must be professionally designed, encourages viewers to use the free resources linked in the description, and invites feedback in the comments.

When it comes to testing ads inside of Facebook Ads Manager and even YouTube, Google, TikTok, or any ad platform, testing creatives are one of the highest leverage things you can do to really improve your ad results. And testing creatives can seem a little bit daunting, but I want to show you a really quick, really simple method that's allowed us to test a lot of creatives very quickly, and it gives a lot of really good results as well. And you don't need to be a graphic designer to do this. A lot of people think that you need to have on-brand creatives. They need to look pretty. They need to be designed by someone with like a graphic designer eye. And that's just not true. It's really not the case. And I think a lot of people let creatives hold them back from either scaling or testing more. And all that testing will really allow you to scale at the end of the day. So let me walk you through a really simple format that we like to do with a lot of our partners that we've done for ourselves and we've seen work really, really well. So I really recommend that you test the strategy out. If you enjoy it, if you get some results from it, let me know down in the comment section. And let me just show you kind of how this works. So overall, we're gonna start with essentially a handful of these creatives right here, right? And it really just comes down to this super dead simple outline. It's basically an iPhone Notes app that we've used, and I'll go ahead and zoom in on it. And it looks exactly like this. So we basically just take iPhone notes, and whether you have it look like this or whether you have it just text, or if you have a little picture of yourself and then you have a lot of text, doesn't totally matter. Facebook doesn't really care too much anymore about like text filling up more than 50% of the image. We haven't had any problems with that for like a really long time now. However, we'll basically make anywhere from 5 to 10 creatives that look very similar to this. Headline, and then body copy, essentially. Now, everything that we write below the headline is different. The only variable with all these ads is just the headline. So you'll see like with this one, we have that, we have another one, we have this, then we have this one, then we have this one. So we're testing all 4 of these creatives. Like I said, we'll test anywhere from 5 to 10. And the only difference between all of them is just this little headline here. So in the first one, we have method, Start a business, fire your boss, and then framework reveals. These are really quick, easy tests because it just tells you very quickly, hey, which one is grabbing the attention of people? Because then you can go take that really quick headline and turn it into a video ad as well based off of a winner. And how we like to structure this thing is we set it up exactly like this. You can see this right here. We'll do one campaign, we'll do one ad set, and then we will do anywhere from 4 to 5 creatives per ad set. I don't recommend more than 5 creatives for ad set. 5 is even pushing it a little bit. I think 4 is a really good sweet spot. And I know some question that people will be asking is, okay, well, if I'm telling Facebook to send $50 here across all 4 of these, doesn't that mean that this version 3 may not get as much spend as version 2 or version 1? That's the case. You actually want that to happen. Now, yes, a perfect test is everything gets $5 of spend, for example, and you know which one is a winner and which one's not. However, that just takes more spending and more unnecessary spending that you don't always really need to do. We found that if you tell Facebook to spend $50 between these 4 or 5 creatives, everything in Facebook is based off of initial conditions, meaning that whatever is kind of happening at first, when you first launch it, Facebook will continue to pour into that ad and that will continue to happen. For an example, let's say you launch all 4 of these. Let's say ad 1 and ad 2, has a higher click-through rate, it's stopping more people scroll and it's working better. Well, Facebook is gonna put more budget to these ones cuz it's seeing that it's winning initially. Whereas say 3 and 4 just were not working very well. Facebook's not gonna put as much spend there cuz the click-through rate is lower and it's just not working as well. It's actually a good thing because instead of having to spend, let's say $5 between all of 'em, you get to spend $5 on this whole thing. Facebook's gonna tell you what works and what doesn't. We've actually done tests for ourselves to kind of prove this, where we've tested all 4 of them like this. And then we've tested each one individually in their own ad set. And more times than not, there's very slim chances that this has happened, a very slim amount of times that this has actually happened to us. But if it didn't work individually, it doesn't work here. Or if it doesn't, if it doesn't work in this grouping, it ends up not working individually either. Facebook does show it to a few people, but if it doesn't click and no one's clicking it and the click-through rates don't look good, it just stops showing it to people. Whereas if the other ones do, it tells you a lot quicker and you can kind of run through it very fast. So I hope this makes sense. Really quick video, but this is a really easy way to test creatives. And you can do the exact same thing on a creative that's maybe a little bit more fancy, right? Test the exact same creative just with 4 different headlines, something like big center text like this. And it's a great way to kind of prove out your creatives. So go out there, test this stuff.
