A short YouTube video (YouTube Shorts) by Nir Eyal urging viewers to separate — mentally — the distracting, judgmental voice in their head from their true identity. Eyal labels that inner voice a 'saboteur' that lies when it tells you to stop hard work, and encourages viewers not to believe every feeling or impulse to get distracted.

Disconnect that voice in your head from yourself. There's a big trap that we fall into in thinking that that saboteur in our head is somehow us, that that's our soul speaking, telling us that we should go do something else, that it's okay if we get distracted, because that's my consciousness telling me I should stop working on this big project. And that is such a lie. Right? It's so untrue. That that voice in your head telling you to get distracted, that is not really you. That is a saboteur. That is not your real identity. It's something that's trying to pull you away from doing the hard work you have to do to move your life and career forward. So good on you for rec recognizing that that voice in your head is not something you have to listen to. That we don't have to believe everything we feel.
