This is a YouTube video titled "Is your inbox your boss? #shorts" created on June 21, 2023, featuring Nir Eyal discussing the importance of planning reflective work time instead of relying on external sources like email or Slack to dictate one's schedule.

Many people allow their email inbox to be their boss? I don't know what to do with my time. I'm not really sure. So let me just check email. Email will tell me what to do or Slack will tell me what to do or my boss will tell me what to do. And so people become habituated to looking to some kind of external source to tell them how they should spend their time. That's ridiculous. If you don't plan at least some time in your day for that reflective work, I promise you, you are going to run real fast in the wrong direction.
