The macro skill of the century will be the power to be indestructible. And when I started to study, how do I do this? How do I manage distraction? How do I do what I say I'm going to do? All I found were a bunch of books that tell me technology is rotting my brain, that it's stealing my attention. Nobody's stealing your attention. We're giving it away. And so what I truly wanted to figure out was an approach that doesn't blame our circumstances. We can't time travel to some magical period before distraction. In fact, we know that Plato, the Greek philosopher, was complaining about distraction 2500 years before the Internet. So it can't be our devices. And I hate these authors that have these simplistic solutions. It's all social media's fault. It's all technology's fault. I am calling bs. It's got almost nothing to do with technology. That's just the manifestation of the problem. That's just the symptoms.
