Christian Kaba of Easy Mining describes the company's five mineral-recovery technologies that extract phosphorus from sludge, ash, and mine tailings. He discusses PFAS concerns in biosolids and Easy Mining's presence at WEFTEC 2019, where a breakfast session analyzed emerging research trends in phosphorus recovery.

Thank you for joining us. We're here with Christian Kaba from Easy Mining. Christian, maybe tell us a few words about what Easy Mining does and about the technology.
So Easy Mining originates from Sweden and we have five technologies, various ones to recover minerals, for instance, phosphorus from sludge, incinerator ashes or mine tanks. I just learned here by surprise that the PFAS is a big topic now in biosolids. So incineration to my mind is one solution. And then of course, mining pea from the resulting ashes is one contribution to sustainability and circular economy. Excellent.
Yeah, I know. We've certainly been tracking the phosphorus recovery area. We've been looking at Stewart Recovery. We've been hearing interesting things about Vivianite recovery also. So the whole area of phosphorus recovery seems to be continuing to evolve, which is a great sign. Tell us more about Waftech 2019. How has your experience been being part of the Innovation Showcase? What were your highlights?
Yeah, that's a lot to say. So first of all, thank you for the invitation and I think you did an amazing job in this Innovation Pavilion, I think has a very nice position within the show. There was a lot of traffic, I had a lot of good contacts, discussions, etc. So I was really surprised by this one. And yeah, one of the highlights, I think was also one of the breakfast sessions we had yesterday. Great presentation, so it's really interesting. Content analysis, what papers and topics have been, let's say, submitted over the years. And so you can really track the development of what will become hot topics, but also allowing you to predict probably what will be the next year. So, yeah, following years, hot topics. So that's really great.
That's great. That's great. Thanks so much for your time, Christians. Very nice to have you here.
