In this interview, Angela Godwin of Waterworld and Industrial Waterworld magazines talks with Paul O'Callaghan, CEO of BlueTech Research, at the fifth BlueTech Forum in San Francisco. Paul explains why the forum is needed despite the abundance of water conferences, highlighting three unique pillars: the high‑quality research and analysis BlueTech provides, its capability to track next‑generation water‑technology innovation, and its global network that connects industry leaders. He then expands on the year’s overarching theme, “future‑proofing your water technology strategy,” describing how BlueTech’s market research, innovation case studies, and panel discussions on topics such as the Internet of Things, smart water, forward osmosis, and ceramic membranes together create a roadmap for water‑technology portfolios over the next five years. The interview closes with thanks and well‑wishes.
Hi, I'm Angela Godwin with Waterworld and Industrial Waterworld magazines coming to you from the BlueTech Forum out in San Francisco, California. Talking with me today is Paul O', Callaghan, he is CEO of BlueTech Research. Paul, thank you so much for being with us today.
Pleasure.
So we wanted to catch up with you and talk a little bit more about the forum. This is the fifth forum and why put on this event? Why is it so important?
Well, I can tell you the first reason. It's not because the world needs another water conference. It doesn't. There are plenty of water events. So we had to think really carefully and clearly about what we could do that was unique at this event. And there were really three things we felt. One, the quality of the research and analysis we can bring as a research organisation, the quality of the insights, content that you really can't get elsewhere. Secondly, our expertise in tracking innovation, that we can truly track next generation innovation and help to put the spotlight on that. And thirdly, the quality of our global network to bring people together and make connections.
Excellent. Now I know one of the overarching themes this year is future proofing your water technology strategy. What does that mean to you?
Well, it really ties together all the work that we do at Bluetech. Research and analyzing markets and tracking innovation and trying to predict where will the market be in five years time. And we've put together roundtable briefings on market areas followed by innovation case studies and then panels on key themes like Internet of Things, Smart Water Forward, Osmosis, Ceramic membranes and collectively then that provides a vision or a roadmap to future proof your water portfolio.
Paul, thank you so much for joining us today. We wish you all the best of luck going forward. Thank you very much, Angela. Pleasure. For Industrial Water World and Water World magazines, I'm Angela Godwin.
