Paula Rizzo says skip vague resolutions like "be more organized." Instead, pick one concrete habit: arrive at work 20 minutes early to process voicemails, emails, and plan your day. Specific routines beat abstract goals.

Happy New Year! I'm Paula Rizzo from ListProducer.com. This is the season of the resolution, and if you have one, please throw it away. Yep, you heard me right. Throw away that resolution. I think resolutions are overrated. I used to be a huge resolution maker because I'm such a big, big list maker that I love to write out my goals and things that I want to do and all of that. But I think resolutions are the wrong way to go. I think instead of a resolution, You should make yourself a plan. And by that I mean, if your resolution this year is to be more organized, which is a huge one every year for everybody, instead of that resolution, make a plan. And the plan should be to show up to work 20 minutes earlier. So whatever that means for you to get to work, to get to your desk 20 minutes earlier, do that. And when you get there, do whatever it is that's gonna make your day easier and more productive. So if that means listening to your voicemails, writing down all the people you need to call back, going through emails from overnight, or sitting and making a list of all the things that you need to accomplish for the day. And then you'll have a roadmap for everything that you need to do. And instead of having this huge, big, scary resolution, you're gonna have a very, very easy-to-follow plan that will set you up for success. Good luck and Happy New Year!
