The excerpt is a multi-speaker discussion featuring Paula Rizzo and several other speakers (labeled Speaker B–F) describing Rizzo's book "Listful Living": its three-part structure (assessing current life, dreaming an ideal life, and integrating the two), journaling exercises, practical productivity advice (saying no, resting as part of focus), and how list-making can reduce stress and clarify priorities.
Chapters
This book is about marrying the dream side of you with the practical side of you. It starts with taking basically an inventory and assessment of exactly what your life is right now, then making a list of like everything you really dream your life could be, and the third section is how do I actually bring these two things together.
There's no point in tracking daily tasks if you don't know where you're going, and what Paula does is helps you plot that, figure out where you are and where you wanna go so that you actually can get to where you really wanna go most.
Listful Living takes these pockets of your everyday life sorts them through journaling and shows you what you need to get rid of, what you need to keep to live a better life.
It is a journal, so it's meant to help you work your way through how can you be less stressed and still stay productive.
I think we all feel that there's never enough time in the day, we have to get it all done, we hold ourselves accountable, a lot of undue pressure, and this book almost gives you permission to say no, this is not important, and to make room for the things that are actually more important. We want to say yes. We want people to like us.
But if you're saying yes to somebody else, are you saying no to something that you should be doing?
She says rest is the new hustle. Once you get it to a certain level in your profession, you really need to be able to say no, to make those qualitative relationships, and decide what it is you want to do. Focus, because that next 30 years is going to be what your legacy becomes.
There are a lot of different books you can read on productivity, and I love that it's right to the point. It's got just enough exercises, not a lot, so you're not overwhelmed, and you finish reading it feeling as though you know exactly what you need to do.
This is a way to really get in touch with yourself, to be introspective, and to craft a life that is in alignment with your very best self.
So like where you're at right now, where you'd like to be, let's put them together and get you to a place that's less stressed and more happy and more free.
Little shifts that seem impossible are actually really easy to implement.
Paula literally elevates list-making to an art form.
