Peter Winick calls out content paranoia: the fear that sharing your full ideas kills consulting demand. He points to business books that publish complete frameworks and still land clients. Wider distribution builds authority and creates more paid opportunities, not fewer.

Hi, this is Peter Winick of Thought Leadership Leverage, and today I wanted to take a moment and talk to you about a phenomenon that I've observed with authors and thought leaders that I've worked with over the years, and it's really about what I call content paranoia. And what I mean by that is there are people that are afraid to get their content out to people, to publish the models, to talk about it, to really get it out there in a wide variety of ways because they think if they get it out there, then people won't need their services. And the reality is, if you look at any of the best business books that have been published over the last 20, 30, 40 years, they make it really clear as to what their model is, right? The 7 steps— they don't publish steps 1 and 5 and leave you wanting for more. They put it all out there. Leadership models— they publish their models. They tell you exactly what to do with it. And my advice is to get your work out there, get your content out there in as many modalities, in as many mediums, in as many formats as you can. And people will look at it, people will enjoy it, people will consume it, and some of those people will want to retain you to do other things that they can't do on their own. So there are people that will do things on their own, that's fine, they wouldn't have been customers, they wouldn't have been clients anyway. But the more you get your stuff out, the more people will be exposed to it and the more that they will use you for other services and offerings and derivatives of your, of your content. Thanks so much. Thank you.
