Peter Winick says any piece of content must enlighten, guide, or inspire. Without at least one of these, it fails to connect. Small fixes like refining terminology or adding anecdotes can help your work hit these marks.

Hi, this is Peter Winick from Thought Leadership Leverage. Today I wanted you to get to think about 3 things that your content should be doing for people regardless of the type of content you have. It could be very detailed, very analytical, very scientific or research-based, or it could be a little bit more right-brained, a little bit more soft soft skills, if you will. Your content needs to enlighten people, it needs to guide people, and it needs to inspire people. If you can't enlighten, guide, or inspire them with your content, it's not going to connect, it's not going to resonate, and they're not going to want to do anything with it. So as you're putting your content out there, make sure that you think about those things and figure out what tweaks that you can make. Sometimes they're just small little tweaks— the terminology that you use or an anecdote that you bring to life. That will help you get your content connected to people in a way that will enlighten them, that will guide them, and will inspire them. Thank you.
