Peter Winick argues that authors and experts spend too much time thinking and refining their ideas instead of taking action to reach audiences and generate revenue. He identifies comfort and fear of rejection as reasons people stay stuck in the thinking phase. The shift from ideation to execution is what creates real impact and business results.

Hi there, it's Peter Winick. I'm the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage, and here's the thought that I'd like to share with you today, and that's this: you gotta do more and think less. Now, it's a bit counterintuitive to tell an audience of authors, thought leaders, experts, etc., that thinking is overrated. Thinking is not overrated. However, what I have found in my work and my experience working with all sorts of authors, thought leaders, advisors, consultants, experts over the years is that there's more time spent thinking than needs to be and less time spent doing. What do I mean by this? Let me unpack it a little bit. So the thinking part is important. That's how you crystallize your ideas. That's how you modify your models, your methodologies, your frameworks. That's how you polish the work to make sure it's really, really good. But the doing is doing the things that you need to do to get that work out there. To get that work in front of the people that it will impact the most, in front of the people who will drive your revenue, in front of the people who will internalize it in a way that leads them wanting more. And there's lots of reasons why we tend to stay in the think lane versus the do lane. It's our comfort zone, we enjoy it more, fear of rejection, et cetera, et cetera. But anyway, I would ask you to consider doing more at the expense of potentially thinking a bit less. Love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
