Peter Winick argues that most thought leaders keep their work isolated within small pockets of client organizations instead of embedding it across entire companies. The real barrier is the lack of scalable products that spread ideas without the expert in the room. If your ideas only work when you're present, they're not institutionalized.

Hi there, it's Peter Winick. I'm the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage. And here's today's thought, and that is this. In my work, working with world-renowned authors, speakers, thought leaders, academics, consulting firms, et cetera, what I see as a pattern, quite frequently actually, is that their work is isolated inside of their core clients. What do I mean by this? What I mean by this is that they've got great clients, but there's only little pockets of folks inside the organization that have ever been exposed to the work. Even if that pocket, even if that small group is in the C-suite, it's still only a handful of people. More often, it might be geographically limited or it might be by function. So, where do you go from there? If your work is isolated inside of pockets in your organizations that you work with, in your client organizations, you need to institutionalize that work so that it can touch more people more often throughout your client base. The number one impediment to doing this well is not having the right suite of products, offerings, and solutions that enable you to effectively scale your work across an organization. Quick litmus test: if you need to be in the room or in the Zoom for the ideas to be exchanged, you cannot institutionalize your work at any sort of ongoing impactful level for a global organization. You're only one person; it's not going to happen. So again, one of the things I would be thinking about now is is that. Are you isolated? And if so, how do you start moving that needle to institutionalize your thought leadership across more people inside of the organizations that you already have a relationship with? As usual, would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
