Peter Winick warns that thought leaders often trap clients in jargon and technical details instead of showing them the bigger picture. Keep clients oriented on their current state, desired future state, and why the work matters. Regularly elevate the conversation to remind them of the problem, the hard work ahead, and the outcomes they'll achieve.

Hi there, it's Peter Winick. I'm the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage, and here's the idea that I'd like to share with you today, and that's this: when you're talking to prospects, when you're interfacing and interacting with your clients, oftentimes what I find thought leaders have a tendency to do is get wrapped up into the minutiae, into the jargon, into the details. And I think that's important in certain contexts, but I think ultimately what you need to keep keep your eye on the prize, if you will, is making sure the client understands where they are and where you're trying to take them to, right? What the current state is and what is going to be better, what is going to be different, what is going to be more powerful for them relative to the objectives that they're trying to achieve, relative to the interactions and the work that you're doing. So sort of elevate that conversation, not Every time, but on a consistent basis to remind them, hey, we're here, we're stuck, or we're not retaining talent, or we're not growing as fast as we are. And as a result of doing all these things I'm asking you to do, and then I'm working with you on, which are hard and which are different and which are difficult, here's where we're going to get to. And, and let's not forget why we're doing what we're doing. Love to hear your thoughts, as always.
