Five foods that secretly ruin your teeth. Think you're eating healthy. You might actually be ruining your teeth without even realizing it. Some foods seem harmless or even good for you, but they are secretly damaging your enamel, feeding harmful bacteria and causing cavities and enamel. Once gone is gone. Today I'm exposing those five foods that secretly destroy your teeth. And number three, something you eat almost every day and you need to be careful. Stay till the end because I am also revealing dentist approved alternatives to keep your smile healthy and bright. So let's go. Number one, the silent toothbreaker is ice. You might think chewing ice is harmless because it is just frozen water, right? No. Wrong. Ice is hard enough to chip and crack your enamel leading to sensitive teeth and painful fractures over time. A good alternative is if you love crunching on something sugar free gum with xylitol and extra pinch of peppermint oil. Amazing. 2. White bread. That sticky white bread that everybody eats. White bread might seem innocent, but once you chew it, it turns into this sticky starchy paste that gets trapped in your teeth. This feeds harmful bacteria. The streptococcus mutants. They love it, causing acid buildup, plaque and cavities. Just like candy. Actually worse than candy. Better alternative, switch to whole grain bread. I personally I eat Ezekiel bread which doesn't mean breaking down into sugar as quickly and contains tooth friendly fiber. Number three, Citrus fruits. Now those are the ugly ones. The ugliest ones, the acid attack. Oranges, lemons and even healthy fruit juices are packed with vitamins but they are also very very highly acidic. Acid weakens enamel over time making your teeth more prone to decay and sensitivity. I lost my own personal enamel during COVID times because I had an orange tree in the back of my house and I was munching in oranges without washing my mouth with the water. End result, I had sensitivity on my teeth and I believe that I lost some enamel on my teeth during that 6, 7 month period. Stress made me keep eating oranges. Not good for you. Better alternative, drink citrus juice or straw and rinse your mouth with water right after to neutralize that acidity. Number four, Popcorn. The hidden tooth killer. Who doesn't love a good movie snack? Everybody goes to movies and eats popcorns. But watch out, popcorn husk gets stuck in your gums leading to painful infections. And those hard unpopped kernels, they can literally crack your teeth in an instant. You don't want that. Better alternative, opt for some softer air popped pop popcorn and floss immediately after eating to remove those stuck pieces. Number five, which everybody does Coffee and tea the Sneaky Stainers Your morning cup of coffee or tea might wake you up, but it is also staining your teeth. So in case you're a model looking for white, sparkly teeth, beware the the tannins in the coffee and tea bind to your enamel, causing yellowing and discoloration over time. Drink through a straw. Rinse with water afterwards. I don't drink through a straw, but I rinse right after and brush at least 30 minutes later to prevent staining. After coffee, I always tend to eat a peppermint xylitol gum because that keeps my breath fresh and my teeth clean.
