Gum Recession Fixes Your Dentist Won’t Tell You!

YouTube video (Puneet Nanda) explaining how gum recession can be halted (though not fully reversed without surgical intervention). Emphasizes gentle brushing with a soft, small-head brush; daily flossing; oil pulling (claimed comparable to CPC mouthwash per an internal study to be posted mid-December); hydration and saliva’s role in remineralization; addressing night grinding (bruxism) with relaxation, adaptogens and night guards; and when to consult a dentist/periodontist for procedures such as scaling/root planing, grafts, pinhole surgery, veneers/bonding, laser therapy, or orthodontics (Invisalign). Warns that untreated infections can spread systemically.

Doctor Charles Mayo, the co founder of Mayo Clinic, once said, a healthy mouth is the gateway to a healthy body. But don't forget, you cannot have a healthy mouth till you have healthy gums. Gums is the foundation of strong teeth, healthy teeth and an overall healthy mouth. So overall healthy body. So can gum recession really be reversed? Is the million dollar question. Now it cannot be truly 100% be reversed unless you do interventional surgeries, which we will also talk about. What you can although do is you can stop the progression of gum recession. The number one thing is, and I'll put it all in terms of importance, but brush. I sometimes get appalled when I see videos of people who say they have not brushed for 25 years. They have like tons of tartar in their mouth. That is not going to help you. So brush and brush gently. Don't let your subconscious stress make you brush aggressively. That is going to cause gum recession. That is the number one cause of gum recession. So whenever you brush with your manual toothbrush, use a soft brush. Use a smaller head. Possible. And gently brush. And if you use a larger head, if that is your requirement, then make sure it is soft. Soft brush is a good toothbrush. Back in the day, 1970s, people used to say, if you don't brush hard enough, you're not going to clean. That is wrong. They even used to big companies used to even sell hard toothbrushes. Not guru Nanda. We decided not to even go that direction. If you need a hard toothbrush, go to the companies that sell a hard toothbrush toothbrush. That said, brush very gently because it's your own teeth, you're gonna brush it 60,000, maybe 80,000 times in this lifetime. So you got to brush gently so that you don't remove the enamel. Once the enamel is gone, it's not going to come back. Once these gums are receded, you'll have to do surgical interventions to get them back. So you need to stop the progression. Ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Remember that number two, floss. Because floss only the teeth you want to keep. Because when you floss, you're ensuring that between the two teeth is where most of the cavities get formed. Once you're flossing, you're removing those biofilms, you're dislodging those biofilms behind which the bacteria is hiding. So once they're dislodged, that means you're not making room for that bacteria to grow there and cause cavities and ultimately cause gum recession. Gum inflammation Gum issues. So that is very important. Number three, ensure your oil pulling. When you oil pull you're loosening those biofilms. And there is a new study that we'll be posting on gurunanda.com where we've compared oil pulling to CPC acetyl pyridium chloride, which is often a mouthwash that is being used for gum health. Now we've done a study, we cannot really go and tout it because it is not FDA approved drug. But our oil pulling has shown equal results in the patients. They've been using it for their gum health and we'll be posting that on our website by December mid. So that said, stay hydrated, water is life. And by staying hydrated you are ensuring there is no dry mouth, dry mouths. So Jones syndrome. Anybody with any kind of where saliva production is a constraint, they are more prone to getting cavities, they are more prone to getting all sorts of mouth issues. Because our saliva is the one that remineralizes our teeth. Our saliva is the one that will ensure that acid that is produced by the bacteria when they are taking care of the leftovers that you left behind between the teeth or in your mouth or that sugar aid that it's left behind for them to live and thrive out of is actually neutralized. Because what forms the cavities is the demineralization. Either you are anytime remineralizing or you are demineralizing. When are you remineralizing? When the mouth conditions are good, your saliva is very active, your saliva is neutralizing that acid. It's actually your own saliva is flush with the minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium phosphates and these minerals are going to remineralize your teeth, keep your entire gum line healthy. They're going to have anti inflammatory effects. They are the best possibly God has created a system that will re fix everything that you do. Unless you really are on a mission to harm your own body. Can heal one of the other biggest issues that is most underrated. Most underrated is night grinding. Night grinding or teeth grinding or bruxism is probably the single most problematic thing when it comes to gum recession. And let's say this is your teeth. If you get a little literally a triangle shaped dent on the top of your teeth and that means you've been night grinding. And when you go to show to a dentist, whenever you night grind, those marks will show up on your teeth. You'll see that they've been grinding at night because all that subconscious stress that you've been carrying is actually causing all that Grinding. That's not just grinding your teeth and enamel. That's also hurting and causing gum recession. Huge problem. And so for that you need to address it by meditation and other things. Apart from that, maybe ashwagandha oil pulling, we recommend. Plus you need to start wearing a night guard. We give a small temporary night guard free of charge in the ashwagandha oil pulling, the cinnamon ashwagandha oil pulling. You also could look for holistic options. Of course, anything I say has to be done in conjunction with your dentist, with your doctor. You. You could also look at adaptogenic things like ashwagandha and other things to kind of relax you so that the parasympathetic system, your cortisol level is under check. So apart from that, if your gums are really receded and they are literally showing up, you also want to see dentists. They are mostly called periodontists. So ask your general dentist. He'll send you to a good specialist and maybe you might even want to go to one or two different ones to get the double opinion. The periodontist will see if he has to scale or root plan or maybe gum graft or even sometimes do pinhole surgical procedure to ensure that he can actually take the skin from somewhere else and regraft that part of the gum. Or even take your own gum and regraft. It means they have their own techniques. I won't go into their specialty. You can ask a periodontist. He'll be the best judge for that. Apart from that, there are certain times you can use veneers and bondings for cosmetic procedures can be done to make your teeth look really good. Then there are certain newer technologies like laser therapy. Then at certain times you can even use orthodontics maybe needed to be done so that you may be grinding your teeth to a point where there could be a structural issue and that has to be resolved through orthodontic treatments. Nowadays there are very easy variations like Invisalign available. Invisalign is very easy. If the result needed is not big enough, it can give you result in like four to six months and you're one and done. It's a little costly, especially in America. In certain other countries like India. I heard nowadays these can be done very inexpensively. In America, it's anywhere from $2,500 to $4,000 depending upon the dentist. I am not going to take anything away from a dentist. You are going to a dentist or a periodontist is the key. And your early intervention whenever it comes to gum health is the key. Whenever you see any problems in the gum, you have bleeding gums. Of course if you're oil pulling and you're doing everything, great. But if you have bleeding gums or other underlying issues, that means you need to show it to a periodontist because there could be something systemic going on. You should remember that even an infection that seems normal, that seems very minuscule could actually travel through between your teeth all the way to the roots back down into your blood and cause sepsis and even death. So it is not to be taken lightly. You need to show your dentist. He'll probably do the X rays. He'll probably even do a CT scan within the office. Nowadays good dentists have that. And he will ensure that there is nothing systemic wrong. That is very important. Once that's taken care of, you're on your way. And don't forget again, I'm going to repeat it. A ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Thank you.
