Episode 454: Manifest your Life
18 Jun 2025 · 28 min
In this informal, conversational episode of the Winey Palooza podcast, host Rebecca Greene (licensed clinical social worker, wife, mother of three) and her husband Seth discuss the concept of manifestation and how to turn it into concrete life goals. After a brief ad read for FanDuel, Rebecca introduces the show’s purpose – supporting parents through shared experiences and expert interviews. She recounts a personal manifestation story about how she visualized and attracted her husband, describing the specific traits she listed and the daily journaling practice that reinforced the vision. Rebecca then shares a homework assignment given by manifestation coach Susan Peltakian: write a detailed, present‑tense vision statement for one’s life, covering health, family, career, finances, and personal values. The couple walks through examples of vague versus specific statements, emphasizes the need for measurable, time‑bound goals (e.g., workout frequency, financial targets), and highlights the power of handwritten journaling versus typing. They also discuss extending the practice to family vision statements, using vision boards, and regularly revisiting and revising goals. Throughout, they promote their blog, upcoming guest episodes (including Susan Peltakian on July 11), and encourage listeners to subscribe, leave reviews, and share the podcast. The episode ends with community shout‑outs, a giveaway announcement, and a production promo for Market Domination LLC.

Happy Whiny Palooza Wednesday!
Happy Whiny Palooza Wednesday!
Oh my God, you're gonna make it. This week is a lot. This week is a lot. Who else is holding on by a thread?
Thread. Just breathe, you could do it, baby. I'm gonna make sure that you are live.
We are, um, yep. What did you tell us last week? We're jumping through the June jungle, Mike.
June chopping our way through the June jungle.
I want you to know I gave up on my hair today.
Well, your hair got frizzy because of some stuff, um, the Turkish bath.
Yes. So This is my recommendation, moms. June is a jungle. We are crazy. I forgot to do something today that I think I have to do when I'm done here. Uh, the lists are endless, the days are endless. There's so much going on this week. And in the middle of a crazy week, Seth and I went to the Turkish bath for an hour at the Excuria—
new Excuria Salon.
It was amazing. It's so relaxing, and we both needed it.
Yes. Yeah, I would like to go on another day when we're more relaxed to start.
So this hair is— I never— yeah, this is from the Turkish bath. It was steamy and beachy. Do you like it?
I do.
So I'm totally off topic, but I guess— but I, um, I was gonna do— I couldn't do the June Jungle again. I already did it. I didn't want to do the Mom Mental Load. We've already done that. I also thought about doing— there was something else with the same topic, and I was like, no, no, no, keep it fresh, do something else. And I got a homework assignment. Let's see if I remember how to say her name. I should have looked it up before I got on here. There is an interview coming on July 11th that I can't wait for. Susan Peltakian. Susan P. Susan P. One of my favorite interviews. Uh, we talked about manifestation. She is a manifestation and mindset coach. She's amazing. You're gonna love her. I can't wait for her podcast to air. Um, one of my very, very favorite interviews, and she gave me a homework assignment. So we're going to talk about my homework assignment, and we're going to talk about manifesting your life. So I want to go to the definition of manifestation from the Cambridge Dictionary so you know where my head is at. Okay, okay. Do you want to read it?
Sure. The process, uh, the process of materializing specific goals or desires by channeling focused thoughts, beliefs, and actions into reality. Originating from New Thought philosophy, manifestation asserts that positive or negative thoughts attract corresponding experiences or circumstances into one's life.
Did you get it?
I did.
So when you're thinking all the negative things, you're making negative things happen. The energy, the manifestation makes things happen. If you're focused on positive things, you're bringing that forward and you're making that happen. So I want to start with I manifested my husband. I knew what I didn't want from a previous relationship. I knew it needed to end, I knew I didn't want it, I knew the reasons why I didn't want it, and I said, okay, you're clear on what you don't want, let's get clear on what you do want. And I wanted to get married, and I wanted to have kids, I wanted to have a family, and I knew that that was one of my main goals in life, so I wanted to focus and hone in on it. I was like, okay, before you turn 30, let's go find him and let's have some babies.
So check me off your list, baby.
So I, I took all of my focus to finding Seth, and it was just finding the one. And I started to list everything I was looking for. If I can find the list, I will share it with you. This is what part of what I remember.
I still have my journal where I wrote my list.
I'm sure I have it, I just have to find it. Yeah. He is kind, he is giving, he is intelligent, He is funny and makes me laugh. He is handsome. He is genuine. He has a career. He is ambitious. He is hardworking. He is easy to talk to. He wants children. He likes animals. He wants to live in Buffalo, New York. He is Jewish.
So that was all on my list, and along with a lot of other stuff.
So what I did— that is just a, uh, like a sample to show you. So what I did was I took my list and I studied it every night. I went over it every night, I added to it every night, I reworded things, I got more specific, and I studied my list, and he showed up. And when Seth and I went on our first date in 2004, and I interviewed— and we interviewed each other on our first date, like throwing questions at each other. And I loved that we decided we could ask each other anything as long as we would answer each other's questions. So it was like, give them an example of a question that you asked me, like, um, where do you want to live?
How many kids do you want?
How many kids?
Tell me about your relationship with your mother. Tell me about your relationship with your father.
So he could ask me whatever he wanted, and I could ask him whatever I wanted, but then he had to answer his own question.
Yes, you have to answer the same question that you asked the other person.
Right. So do you have any mental disorders? I don't, Seth. Do you?
No mental health disorders.
And I'm not laughing. I'm not laughing. Lots of people have issues. And I said to him, like, after we were dating for a while, do you think someone's gonna like answer that question?
Yes.
Do you think someone's gonna say I have bipolar disorder? Yes, you do.
I've had people answer that question, those questions.
He was like, never mind, we won't get into some of the questions that blew my mind.
Okay, we'll just say that Rebecca said, who have you dated before? That you were asking me a question.
Some of the questions he asked me, I'm like, I'm like, okay, he, he was in the drama department and that's where some of these questions are coming from. Nothing's wrong with the drama department. Thank you, drama department kids are awesome. I was just at the drama club banquet at school, and they're all awesome kids, including my daughter.
Yes. So I, I also read a book by Wayne Dyer called There Is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem, and I also, unbeknownst, at the same time made a list of everything I wanted and everything I didn't want in a relationship. I also separately worked on it every single day, and when I quote unquote finished my list, literally, and I was like, that's it, that's who she is, the next day I ran into this wonderful woman.
And then what we were sharing with each other is we went home and we went over our lists, and I was like, check, check, check, he's everything on my list. I manifested him. What was the book that I read by the rabbi?
Jesus Is a Matchmaker. I thought, I thought Stephanie gave you Jesus Is a Matchmaker. No, no, I do remember that book though. You're talking about a different book.
It was by a rabbi.
Okay, I do not know.
I will find the book. I will find the list. I will go on the list.
I also know that Stephanie, when we first met, she showed me the Jesus Is a Matchmaker book and said, I gave this to Rebecca and told her to find— and, and told her she could use it to find someone like you. You can ask her. I remember the book. Different book.
Stephanie was an angel sent to us.
A dear friend.
A dear friend who I worked with, who I wish I still worked with, which maybe I will work with her again. She told me to call him. She was like, this wonderful man at Temple came up to you and gave you his business card. What does God need to do to wake you up? I do— she's like, I don't understand you. So anyways, thank you, Stephanie.
Yes.
So Susan's homework that she left me with is to write the vision for my life. She wanted me to write it out, so I wrote the vision for Seth. But she wanted me to write my vision for my life. Current, current vision. So I started writing. I'm going to give you a little taste, but I need to get more specific and study it every day just like you did before. And I need to, I need to keep working on it and get more specific. I'm looking for job guidance, so career, like I have a career and it's great, but it's time to step up, step it up. Like if I'm working X amount of hours, I'm ready to work Y amount of hours. Does that make sense to you?
It does.
So we're gonna step it up, and I have a few ideas, but I'm— as I'm looking for guidance, I'm writing things out. So some of the things that are important to me: I am healthy, I am happy, I am a good wife, I am a good mom, I am kind, I am physically fit, I am a healthy— I am a healthy weight, I am generous, I am loving. I am successful. Those are a few. I have lots of friends. So I started going through— you read all of this.
I did.
Um, I also, you know, in my list want to show a lot of gratitude. I live in a beautiful home. I drive a nice car.
Like, you got to make those way more specific.
Yeah, I, I—
this nice car isn't specific.
I'm just like, this is the beginning, first draft. So I wanted— she gave me homework. I wanted to get some momentum going with the blog and with the homework assignment, and I wanted to just start writing. So then I was like, people are gonna ask me questions like, where do I begin? How do I start this? And I want us all to reflect, like, what values are important? Like, I know for me, a couple of the things that are super important to me are my family, my friends, and helping people. Those are 3 things that, like, if you ask me who I am, I will say wife, mom, social worker. Right? That's what I say. So I want you to reflect on your values. What is most important to you? I want you to start visualizing, like, what is your life— what does your ideal life look like? To me, you know, what lifestyle habits do I want to be healthy? Like, get specific. And finances, I want to be— I want to have an abundance One of the things that I wrote, I wish I had found it to say to you. Okay, so I want Seth's money to be extra. This is what I want for me. I want to make enough money to support my family, pay all of our bills, save money, and pay for all 3 kids to go to college. That's my job, right? But if we're both doing—
oh, then we'd have twice as much.
That's amazing, right?
So I love that.
I want to make enough money to go on vacation, and I'm not writing I want, I'm writing I make enough money to go on vacation whenever I want.
Already here.
Okay, so I want to get specific with my finances, and maybe I need an X number. Maybe Seth and I need to work on what number do I need to pay all of our bills, save money, and pay for college. Like, what does that number look like? Yeah, because if I cover all of that stuff that all of Seth's money is just going into our savings account.
That could be reality, right?
Listen, if you—
you can't put it— you can't make it happen if you don't put it out there.
You gotta dream it or it's not gonna happen, right?
I love the dream.
Okay, so we're reflecting and we're visualizing and, um, we're identifying our strengths and our passions because that's gonna help us achieve our goals. Like, I know that I'd love to help other people. That's a strength of mine. I am passionate about my family and helping others succeed. That is a super important line to me. I need to get more specific in everything I wrote. It's not specific enough is what I would say. It's setting big picture goals for yourself. What is your ultimate goal in life? What is your ultimate goal, Seth? Do you know?
And yeah, but it depends on what area, and it's not ultimate like the rest of my life. It's 5 or 10 years, right?
Right. And it's— and, and it says in here to like look at like, where do we want to be in 6 months? Where do we want to be in a year? Where do we want to be in 5 years? So an example of an ultimate goal for me is I want to create a business that empowers others. I've done that. Support my family in a meaningful way. I'm doing that, but I would like to support more. And be a role model for my children by balancing personal success and family life.
That's beautiful.
So I'm doing it.
Yes.
Okay, write your vision statement. It helps you with your goals. So there's so many examples in my blog. If you look at my blog, it will help you write things down at whiningpalooza.com. Thank you, honey. Would you like to read an example of a vision statement?
Sure. I'm a confident and loving mother who balances a thriving business and family life. I prioritize my health and well-being, ensuring I have the energy and clarity to be the best version of myself. My work empowers others to achieve their dreams, and I am deeply committed to my community through service and mentorship. I am financially secure, living a life that reflects my values of authenticity, growth, and love. That's beautiful. I love it.
So what I'm realizing as Seth's reading it is like I really worked on my list for him, like I really worked on it. I wrote it every night and I studied, like I was studying, like what do I want in a husband? And I was so specific and I was like visualizing it and manifesting it by working on it every day. So I'm realizing as he wrote that vision statement, that as he read the vision statement, I couldn't tell you what it is. I'm not studying it, I'm not repeating it. I'm not, you know, I have to do that.
Yes.
So break it down into actionable steps, and we talked about that. So what am I going to do in the next week? What am I going to do in the next month? I got to be specific, right? So one of the examples that sticks out to me is like in my fitness goals, how many times a week am I expecting myself to work out? How many times am I expecting myself to do weight training? How many times am I expecting myself to walk? Like I expect myself to do 10,000 steps every day, and I don't know this month if I have time to up that goal.
Understood.
I can't look up where I'm at right now, but I think I'm almost to 10,000.
Should be doing laps around that, around the living room.
So what, what I find in my life is that things change. So whenever you set a goal in life, whether it's visualizing your vision of your life, whether it's goals for your family. I love the people who tell me that they meet— have family meetings. This is another blog topic for us to do with our kids, like a homework assignment. Do it with the kids and then present it. Okay, people have family vision statements. They hang it up, they talk about their family goals, and they work on it every year. Like We will take at least one vacation this year. I don't know with Cornell, right?
We'll see what happens.
Oh my God, we have to pay for it and we have to, we have to work around Max's schedule if we're bringing him.
Yep.
So what I'm trying to say is that your life changes, things change, and you need to revise things regularly. So if, if my goal is to do weight training 3 times a week In a month, evaluate, do I need to do less? Do I need to do more? Where am I at with my weight training? And if I'm doing 12 pounds, is it time to do 15 pounds? Like, revise it. Yeah, keep updating, keep updating, keep reviewing it. And I promise you, if you write things down— and I was talking to a mom tonight about the power of writing. We think that— that her and I were bonding over the fact that we think that the power of the pen is being lost with the laptop, and we think that typing things is not as powerful to our brain as writing.
Oh, that's been proven. They've done studies on the neuroscience of the act of physically writing something out with your hand goes a more direct connection to your brain than typing and makes a difference in your retention and your activation.
Okay.
Yeah, you're absolutely right.
So I was gonna ask you if I was making stuff up.
No, it's been proven that that's true.
So we were bonding over the fact that we want our kids to write more, and we were laughing because we were writing cursive and we didn't know if the kids could actually read our handwriting. So get a notebook, get a journal, and start this with me today. I'm going to work on my— I'm going to study and work on my homework assignment. I want to make Susan proud, and I want to meet with her because she's going to go over my vision with me, and I have a feeling if I don't make it good, if I don't make it specific, I'm going to get a lot of feedback. She's going to be like, what does that look like? Like, that doesn't— a nice car? What kind of car?
Specific enough.
So I will tell you that one of the problems is that I don't know what car I want. So I wanted a Telluride If you know me, I waited over a year for my Telluride. Well, no, I waited 4 years for my Telluride.
You—
well, yes, because— okay, yeah, I see.
Would you like me to explain?
No, I got it. It was because you got— you settled for the previous car instead of getting what you wanted.
So I got a Traverse because it— my— because I listened to my dad. I listened to my dad. I listened to my parents a lot. They're very smart people and they tend to be right. Um, when, when our kids are older and they're adults like me, they're gonna say, my mom and dad are usually right, like I'm saying about my parents. So my dad, when I was shopping for my 3— I have to get a 3-row SUV. No, I get to get a 3-row SUV. I am lucky enough to get a 3-row SUV because I drive so many children around and it's my pleasure to carpool.
Yep.
So as we were shopping for a 3-row SUV, my father said, please, for the love of God, get something on the lot. Just get something that's available. So I listened and I got a Traverse, but I wanted a Telluride, but the Telluride was a year waiting list. So then I said, okay, I'm done with the Traverse. I'm financially irresponsible, and I leased my Traverse. And I said, I'm going to be financially irresponsible again, and I'm going to lease a Telluride, and I'm going to wait this time until it's available. And I was very specific, and I said, I am not settling, and I am waiting as long as it takes to get the car that I want. And I was very specific, and I achieved my goal. So you see, yes, that if I get specific and I direct myself towards the exact car that I want, I will achieve the goal.
There you go.
So it's just an example for them of how to achieve what we want.
Yes.
So if you want to manifest the life that you want Our suggestion, go get a journal, start writing it out in the present tense. I have X dollars. I have my health. This is what my health looks like. I can run around with my kids. I can keep up with my kids. I can lift a lot. I can lift 50 pounds. Like, whatever your goals are, get specific with us. Do your homework, review it every day, make it specific, keep adding to it, study it, and and watch it manifest.
It's a beautiful thing.
Look at what I manifested.
Thank you, honey.
And never did I doubt that I would have kids. I knew I wanted kids. I knew it was going to happen. I knew I needed the right man to make it happen. And I also— man, I also got my kids, right?
Right.
So what did you think of the blog topic?
Amen.
Does that work for you?
It does. You're reminding me of some stuff that I need to be reminded to do.
You do an excellent job writing things out specifically.
I need to do it more often. I need to do it every day and study it.
So it has been lovely sitting here with you for 25 minutes, but I need to go back to my big June list and get things done. Um, if you're looking for me, I'm going cuckoo in the cuckoo nest this June. Um, I will be selling chicken tomorrow at the high school. So if you're local and you know what high school I'm at, come buy chicken. I will be there. I will say hello and you will support the school and it's— and you won't have to cook and it's a win-win. And, um, this Friday— so Seth messed up. Seth was in charge of telling me who was on the podcast. Yes, last—
I did not know I was in charge of this.
Last Friday you were when you were looking on your phone phone and looked up the wrong person.
Okay, well, it looks like your fabulous producer has signed on live and told you.
Adrian, I was prepared today. I have it written down.
But thank you for the telephone information.
You're wonderful. So this Friday is Christy Gmeier. I'm sorry, Christy, I didn't look up how to pronounce your name. I already forgot. But there's no vowels in her name, which we bonded over when we were discussing how to pronounce her name. Um, Christy's topic, Breaking Free from Mom Burnout, which Seth announced last Friday. Oops, oops. Last Friday was Susan Morgan Taylor, Pleasure— the Pleasure Keys process to reclaiming connection with your, with your significant other.
So, um, we got 2 episodes we gotta listen to, last week's correct episode and this week's.
So please listen to both episodes. And listen on July 11th. Listen every Friday. Come on, man, every Friday and every Wednesday the vlogs are released, so you can always listen to the podcast on Wednesdays. So, um, I was gonna say something. July 11th is gonna be Susan Peltakian's Manifestation and Mindset podcast that I'm looking forward to, but I'm gonna listen to all of them because what happens to me is I interview them, and I don't learn it as well as when I listen. So I interviewed them, had a wonderful time, took some tidbits away, and then I need to listen so that I learn more.
That's awesome.
Yes. Do you ever listen to your own podcasts?
I do.
That's awesome. Thanks. I need to do that every week. I really do. Put it on my list.
Add it on there.
I am having the best time. I want you to know Add something pleasurable to your tasks. I drove for 2 hours— no, I drove for like 3 or 4 hours today between all of my running and finished a wonderful book. So listen to podcasts and books and music in the car.
Listen to her podcast.
Listen to my podcast while you drive around, or while you do the dishes, or while you go for a walk, or fold laundry, which is when I listen to books and podcasts. And I picked Jerry Ann Appleton as our winner of our June challenge, and I have a beautiful prize for her on the dining room table that I need to go drop off tomorrow. I meant to do it today, oops. So I will find out when she's home tomorrow. And anything else, honey?
