3 Ways to Stop Making Life So Complicated So That You Can Feel More Alive! With Rebeccah Silence

Rebeccah Silence shares a personal story from a ropes course experience to explore how fear and the need for control complicate our lives. She offers three concrete ways to let go and feel more alive by simplifying how we move through the world.
With your healing message that we don't have to make our lives so complicated. We don't have to fight and push and resist as hard as we do. What if life could really start to feel more like smooth sailing? And I think the whole point of our lives is to be as alive as we can. So I wanted to give us three steps today to really take on not making our lives safe. So complicated. And how the heck do we do that? Well, the first step is to relax. And it might sound counterintuitive when things are really hard, but I had something happen yesterday that took my breath away and completely caught me off guard. But it was really pivotal and I had to do these three steps. So I want to share this story. Many of you that know me know I've had ropes course training in my history. And yesterday I did a ropes course after not being on one for a few years. And I'm talking the ropes course training that I had 50 foot poles you had to climb, and then you had to climb 50ft across the high wire to the next pole and, you know, swan dive your way to the ground after. But it was all big time emotional work. It wasn't physical. The way I did training with Carol Reynolds and with Heather Steele on ropes courses, it wasn't physical, it was emotional. So you had to put a goal on that pole and you had to get through that emotional resistance and that unwillingness to be where you are and all those fears and obstacles that feel so real and more powerful than your ability to win. You got to conquer. And so, long story short, yesterday I am at Boondocks Family Fun center in Westminster, Colorado with the family on the Scripps course. And I didn't mean to make it a challenge seminar event, but I did because I get to the top, I get through my resistance realizing, ok, I am safe. I am connected. And as I have grown and just evolved in my life, I've gone from leap in the net will appear. And don't even worry about the risks that you are putting yourself in, because everything will come together and you'll land on your feet to yesterday. I was intentional and slow. I was living, listening to my body tell me when it was ready to do what and what it was ready for. And so I get to the part of this ropes course where it's a zipline and this is a family fun center. So this is like no big deal. And I go to start walking off the ledge and I don't want to go. My body was like a hard nut. So I Thought, well, you're not going to not do it, but you're not going to go when your body is saying no. So let's sit with this. So I let all these little kids, much to my 16 year old's daughter's horror, go in front of me. She did it and then I'm taking my sleep time. So long story short, I let a few kids go in front of me. I try once, not ready yet, try the second time, not ready yet. And then I thought to myself, ok, this is the part where you have to relax into surrender and letting go of control of what you don't have control over. You've got to get that you're held, you've got to get that you're supported, you got to get that you're safe and you don't have to do this. And you got to get that you can on your terms, your way. So I ended up having this whole spiritual experience. The second step of not making our lives so complicated is to let go of the things we can't control. So this kid, 15 or however old he was, that's working this ropes course, he says to me, you're making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be. And I thought, well, what a metaphor for my life. I've always thought like everything has to be hard. I've created so much through crisis and nothing's a crisis right now in this moment, it's just me and my family on a ropes course and a bunch of other strangers. And I can do it and I don't have to make it so complicated. I could just let go of control, of wanting to control how this whole exercise went and just stay in control of this third step of my intention with letting go of control and enjoying the ride. My intention of embracing how strong I am today compared to ago. My intention of having fun, my intention of just wanting to get more out of my life. And this is another opportunity to do that. We always have control over our intentions and how aligned we are inside with our actions. And really I see alignment as are we being the person we want to be. So I had this whole spiritual experience on a ropes course yesterday of just really embracing letting go of control, trusting the process and enjoying the ride. And as soon as I got there, I didn't love it. This stepping into the unknown experience, letting life carry me instead of me trying to control life. But I did it and it was gorgeous. It was awesome. It was so much fun. And kudos to my oldest for being so patient with me during this process. I know she was hysterical, just thinking, mom, what's your problem? You do all kinds of crazy things. But I just wanted to really, for real, have that experience. And I did. And we get to. We get to really, for real, have the experience of our lives. Every moment, the moments we like, the moments we don't, the moments that scare us, the moments that feel easy. We can always step into more life and be more and get more alive. And I really think that's the only thing to do with our lives. Thank you so much for watching today's healing message that we don't have to make our life so complicated that we can feel more alive. And we deserve that. Check out rebeccasilence.com for more more healing tools and messages. And I will be back next Monday. See you soon.
