Life coach Rebeccah Silence breaks down New Year's resolutions using her "anatomy of results" formula: intention counts for 40%, action 10%, and emotional state 50%. She's promoting her Inspired Results women's retreat in Fairhaven, New York, January 15-17, with one spot remaining.
Questions this video answers
January 15–17 (year implied 2016) in Fairhaven, New York.
One spot left.
Intention 40%, Action 10%, Emotional state 50%.
It is a confession. Tuesday LogoLife coach Rebecca Silence is in studio. Good morning once again, good morning. So belated. Do I say belated? Merry Christmas. I mean, I wish. I've already wished you Merry Christmas.
You did.
But. But we're. It's that awkward time. It's the most stressful and awkward time of the year.
Happy holidays. That's what works. That works.
Inspired results. Coach.com is the, uh. There's one spot left for the women's retreat weekend.
We have one spot left. And the women's weekend will be completely sold out. I'm so excited. We've got January 15th, 16th and 17th in Fairhaven, New York, the second annual inspired results Women's Weekend. It will be an incredible opportunity for anyone who knows what they want in 2016 and then just doesn't necessarily know how to make that happen for themselves. Awesome curriculum. Will have Reiki. Individual Reiki sessions for every woman.
I don't know what that is.
It's energy work. Pretty powerful stuff. I had Reiki all through my chemo treatments to help me just kind of clear out the garbage. And Reiki is a very powerful, awesome, awesome thing that we will have this year.
Love it.
Yeah.
And it's above and beyond just that. I mean, what you guys offer for this women's weekend really is absolutely. Is incredible.
It's the best of everything I've learned. I've done well over 60 seminars and retreats as a participant myself, and that's where the magic happens. Coaching is powerful. All of what, you know, intellectually gets integrated in the seminar space. So basically, I've, bottom line, the best of everything I've learned into this curriculum. And then after my year of cancer and having a new baby, I definitely had a lot of time to think and write some new stuff. So that'll all be included. You'll get a workbook and a powerful toolkit that you can use for the rest of your life to create whatever inspired result you're looking for.
Think about this. Think about this woman right here, Liz. Within the last year, not only did she give birth to an amazing, amazing child, but she battled and beat cancer. I know. All the same year.
That's crazy.
Dropping a hat. Boom.
Drop the mic, Mic.
Yeah, no, but absolutely, absolutely an inspiration. And the fact that you can take your journey, I mean, you've been affecting lives in a positive way for years and years, but the fact that you can integrate what you've went through over this past year and integrate that even more into what you do, not only whether it Be in, you know, individual sessions with individuals or couples or families or corporate speaking events or this women's weekend. Really, nothing can come to you that can shock you anymore.
This is true.
You know, you've either been there, done that, bought the T shirt. In fact, you probably took a reunion tour a couple times. You know, you've, you've seen and been through, literally, you've seen and been through it all and come out the other side an amazing person. So, you know, people are like, oh, she can't. No words can. Oh, yes, yes, absolutely. Rebecca knows, you know what I'm saying? And I'm saying that as a compliment, I guess. Hi.
Hi. You know, I do want to make it clear that I have to use the tools that I teach. My life isn't perfect. It's not drama free. And with these tools, I'm able to get through whatever comes my way in a way that I can come out stronger and better for these things having happened. And I want to teach that. I want everyone to get that whatever's happening to you is a gift in some way. And I want you to really get that, not just on an intellectual level. So, yes, there is one spot left at my weekend. I would love to have you join me, get in touch with me right away if you're interested, through inspired results. Coach.com.
That'S right. Inspiredresultscoach.com I just want to talk about, and I know this is what a lot of the weekend is going to be that, that we're talking about, but there's a lot of, oh, it's the new year. New year, new me. 2016 is gonna be my year. But the people that say that are the same people that said that 2015 was going to be their year. And they're still there bitching. So what, what's a good way to kind of get over that hump? Like, there's a lot of people that have been like, I'm, I'm making that. You see it on Facebook all the time. I'm making the change right now. I'm making I' right now. And then a week later, they're doing this over.
Yeah, it's very.
It's maybe it's not necessarily realizing what you want, because I think a lot of people, like, have ideas of what they want, but a lot of people don't. On the first, on the first bump, they, they seem to get sidetracked and, like, just give up. You know what I'm saying?
I do, yeah. I think a couple of things happen that will steer you in the direction that you don't want to go. The first one is when you're focusing on what you don't want. And I think it's much EAS for people to identify what they don't want. Like, I don't want to be broke anymore. I don't want to be overweight anymore. I don't want to be single anymore. People are easily able to focus on those things, but then that energetically kind of gives you more of the same of what you don't want. So when I ask people in my office what they want, I will be honest that more often than not, that's a really difficult question.
Sure.
It's hard for people to think about what they want. If there were no obstacles, and that's the way I present the question, like, if there wasn't any problem with time or with money or with people supporting you or not, what would you want?
And the Spice Girls made a career out of it. Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.
Absolutely. So I want everyone to be focusing on what you do want instead of what you don't want. That's the first thing. And then I really am not about New Year's resolutions. I'm about every single day is an opportunity for something more. Something every single person right now towards the end of 2015 has an opportunity to almost inventory. How did 2015 go? What worked, what didn't, what's missing? That would be an awesome journaling exercise for anyone who's listening right now to do what worked this year, what didn't work this year, and what's missing moving into 2016. And then another thing that people do that will absolutely not get them the results that they're looking for is they focus on things that they think they should have instead of things that really excite them. So if it's something that you say that again. So a lot of people focus on what they think they should have based on, you know, this will get me approval or this will complete me in some way. And, you know, the bank account, the scale, whatever it is that you think is gonna make your life better, in my experience, is never the answer. I want you to look at your goals almost like they're frosting for your life. But you're complete already. Everyone out there, you're complete right now. So I want you to pick your goals to enhance your life, understanding that you're complete already. If you're picking these goals to complete you, that is just. It's gonna keep you feeling empty it's not gonna actually fulfill you.
That happens a lot of times with celebrities.
You see that all the time.
Like, the rock stars are like, I thought if I were just to get signed, I. You know, I feel I would make it. I feel. I felt like if I could sell out tours, I feel like I would make it. And then you hear, you know, talking to them, and they're like, it just. It never completed me. And it's. It's an internal thing.
Absolutely. So that is something that a lot of people say they want. This idea of being fulfilled. And then if you're chasing after things to complete you, that fulfillment can never come. So be really careful when you're picking your goals. I don't want it to be something you think you should do. I want it to be something that actually excites you. You. I want it to be something that you're inspired about, that it's exciting, that it's fun and easy. A lot of people think that their goals need to be hard and that it needs to be a lot of hard work. Action. Action. Action. I will give you a little quick tip in terms of a formula that I've used to create goals in my life. A man by the name of Eric Plattenberg created this formula, and he calls it the anatomy of results. Hot tip. Right now, everyone should turn up your radio. So he, Eric Platten talks about the anatomy of results in three steps. So the first one is to actually get really clear on what your intention is or a goal. Right. I call goals intentions. So Your intention is 40% of you getting the actual result. So being clear about what you want, focusing on what you do want, not what you don't want. Making it, almost saying it in the present tense. That is the best way to set an intention. You're saying it like you already have it. Okay, that's 40%. That's it. Right. So there's 60% more of your goal that is waiting for you. The next is action. So we have intention, and then we have action. Most people think they need, like, 90% action. Right. That it's all tasks, that it's all to do. Lists?
Sure.
Guess how much action is. 20, 30, 10.
Wow. Okay.
Yeah, you were close. A lot of people really overshot that. But it's 10%, right? Right. You've worked with me for years and years, so action is only 10. An action needs to be easy, and it needs to support the actual goal. So when you're clear on what your goal is, you can start asking yourself, are my action Steps getting me closer to the goal or are they taking me farther from it?
You're working smarter, not harder.
Absolutely, absolutely. And it should be easy. If it's not, something's off. So intention is 40%, action is 10. And then 50% of you actually getting the results that you're going after have to do with your emotional state. Wow, 50%. So if you're in a dark place, if you're in fear, if you're in like hopelessness, you're not going to be able to get.
You're not gonna get there.
It doesn't matter how much action you have, how perfect the intention is. If emotionally you're in a low state, you're gonna struggle. If you're in a state of excitement and gratitude, it's easy, it flows and you get the result. So just some food for thought. And don't worry so much about action. Don't worry so much about forcing your goals or picking goals that you think you should have. Pick goals that you're really excited about and then set yourself up to win. I want it to be an achievable goal. Like if it's a weight loss goal, start with 10 pounds. Even if you want to lose 50, make it so that you actually can build momentum by achieving these small attainable goals. And make sure it's something that you're excited about. And just consider the possibility that every day is a fresh start. A new Year's resolution is awesome and it isn't necessary necessarily sustainable. So I want you to get what you want. I want it to last. I want you to have success. So do that homework assignment of inventory for 2015, what worked, what didn't, what's missing. And then pick a goal for yourself just for right now. Don't make it a New Year's resolution that you're actually excited about. Make sure you're clear about what you want, not focusing on what you don't want and see what happens.
