Confession Tuesday 6/6/17 FINDING MORE TIME FOR ME

A radio/YouTube Confession Tuesday segment (June 6, 2017) featuring life coach Rebeccah Silence and hosts responding to a listener who feels too busy to enjoy summer or find personal time. Rebecca and the other coach recommend: inventorying current obligations and 'tolerations', identifying 1–3 concrete summer priorities, scheduling those priorities on the calendar, treating minutes like budgeted points, adopting a 'There's Enough Time' mindset, and recognizing obstacles as tests of commitment. The tone is informal, motivational, and practical.

Good morning.
So go to cnykiss.com you can find the archive of past confession Tuesday segments. And by asking for help and wanting to talk about whatever's going on in your world with Rebecca here on the air, number one, it is absolutely confidential. And. And number two, you help a lot of people that you have no idea how many people you are helping just by asking that question. Yeah.
Yeah.
You're not the only one in that same situation.
We want to hear from you.
Absolutely. So CNY kiss.com this week's question. Are you ready?
Yeah.
All right. Dear Rebecca, it seems like everyone is extremely busy, including myself. I feel like I'm losing myself, and I don't get to do what I really want to be doing. I'm just going from one thing to the next to the next. How can I find some time for myself so I can enjoy the summer, too?
All right. What a great question. Yeah. It is that time of year where things can slip away and just get really, really hectic. I think where we have to start is with the question, what would you be doing with your time if there were no limitations or obstacles?
Ooh.
How would you actually, if we had a magic wand, I'd be taking a.
Nap all the time.
Okay. All the time.
That's just me.
But what would you want to do? I find that often people can't answer that question. You know, people are disgruntled and frustrated and cranky, and when it comes to, well, what would you want instead? It can be a difficult question for a lot of people to answer.
Very true.
Right. Cause we just go through the motions. We do what we think we should. And so my first hot tip is anything that is just an obligation or a toleration. Make a list of the things that you're doing and how you're spending your time and whether or not it inspires you, lights you up, or frustrates you. And then some of the things that we do, like, I every three months, go to the cancer hospital, and I let them check me out, and we get scans and just check me. Is not ideal. It's like in Buffalo, not fun, but there's no way I'm not doing that.
Right?
Right. Like, I am making sure that my ducks are in a row and that I'm healthy and My husband and I just make it a day trip and do our best, you know, so there are some things that maybe in the long run are definitely what you want to do, even though in the moment it's not fun or ideal.
Sure.
But you should also have lots going on in your life that inspires you and fulfills you and in the midst of day to day. And a lot of people don't know what it is that would inspire them. So for this summer, I would encourage you not only to make a list of how you're already spending your time and kind of take inventory about that. What has to stay, what can go where. Is there room for free time? But then what's your goal for your summer? What do you want by fall to have made sure that you accomplish this summer?
I think a lot of. I don't know, a lot of people that actually think that way.
Right.
You know, it's, you know. Okay, well, okay, well, this weekend. All right. Some people don't even think about what's going on, you know, this coming weekend, let alone between now and Labor Day, if you're crying out loud.
So think about 1, 2, 3 things that you know you want to happen this summer. That's the first step, paying attention to what you want to prioritize. My husband and I just did this. We have family vacation, and then both of us travel for work. And so we really had to sit down with our calendars and be looking at, okay, what do we want to happen this summer? And then how are we fitting it in? And there is enough time. I encourage everybody that thinks that they have a time issue to play a game with yourself called There's Enough Time.
That's the game.
Yes, it is the game to be in this belief system. And the reason I call it a game is because it's not gonna feel real for a lot of people. Right? Because what do you mean there's enough time? No, there's not. I mean, I, all day long in my coaching office have people telling me they don't feel like there's enough time. And I get it. We're in a time limited event called life. But play a game with yourself called There's Enough Time. And look at it like the minutes. It's almost like Weight Watchers points. Like, how are you budgeting those times, all those minutes? How are you budgeting your points? Seriously? And there's enough, if you choose to pay attention to how you're using your time. So this summer is yours. And my hope for you is that it's unforgettable. And. And that you actually make sure that certain things you want to happen this summer happen, but nobody else will drive that for you. Or make sure that you've carved out the time and prioritized what it is that you want. You've gotta do it.
So figure out what you wanna do. Pull out the calendar. Figure out when you're gonna do it. And execute.
And do that after you've made a list of how you're already spending your time so that you can see what stays, what could go. And people have more free time than they think they do. I promise you. And then just play with yourself like there's enough time. Because what if there is for you to be fulfilled and inspired and make time for yourself. And I just want to have one more point. There will be obstacles. That doesn't mean that you can't have what you want. It's a test in your commitment.
Rebecca. Silence. Life Coach inspired results coach.com and when. When she walked in. When you walked in this morning, I never once thought that you would put organizing yourself and your schedule and time and equate it to Weight Watcher points.
I actually think it's a good metaphor. I think so.
I like it.
I agree.
Yeah.
Yeah.
