Confession Tuesday DATING FOR 3 MONTHS, TOO SOON TO ATTEND A WEDDING TOGETHER?

Radio advice segment (Confession Tuesday) featuring life coach Rebeccah Silence. A listener asks whether it’s too soon to invite a boyfriend she’s been dating for three months to her sister’s wedding. Rebeccah advises trusting personal comfort—there are no fixed rules—framing the invite as an information-gathering ‘experiment’: bringing him will reveal how he and the family interact and how the relationship feels under a spotlight.
It is a confession Tuesday. Local life coach Rebecca Silence in studio. Good morning.
Good morning.
So here's how we're rolling on to confession Tuesday. We're back at it. So you hit us up@cnykiss.com youm tell us what's going on in your world, and Rebecca pretty much cuts through the drama, cuts through the crap, because it helps you get the desired result that you want. A lot of people, they're not quite sure what they want. They just know they want something different, which is one whole conversation. But to get to the point where you're making changes, a lot of times, you just have to. The hardest part sometimes is just cutting through the drama, cutting through the stories.
We believe it like it's gospel, and we take our crap so seriously. And then when we're doing confession Tuesday, we get all around and through all of the stuff that's in the way that's keeping people stuck. And there are always solutions. So I can't wait to hear today's email and see what we got.
All right. You ready?
Yeah.
Okay. Dear Rebecca, I've been seeing my boyfriend for three months, and things are looking good so far. We get along great, and we don't suffocate each other. I know we haven't been together that long, but I really want to invite him to my sister's wedding next month. I'm not scared to ask him or anything, but I'm wondering whether or not it's too soon. My whole family will be there, which obviously means he's gonna meet them all. What if things don't work out? Should I bite the bullet and invite him, or is it too soon?
Thank you for this email. I think. What if there aren't rules that you have to follow? What if what works best for you is all that matters here? Right? And here's the deal. If it's not gonna work out, it's not gonna work out. This wedding wouldn't be the reason why. You just might find out a little sooner how he is around your family, how your family is around him, how you are when they're all together. You're gonna find out a lot of information. And so I'm always of the opinion that it's better to rather than later. So if you're feeling it and you're having fun, you're three months in. Why not, if he is a staple in your life, let him hang out with the family if that feels comfortable to you. If it doesn't, that's okay too. But I want people to stop Asking themselves what they should do. And start checking in with your body and feeling, what does this feel like? What does this feel like? Is this the best for me or not? And if it is, go for it. And if it's not, it's okay to wait too.
I think a lot of times it comes into a situation where people are afraid of the quote, unquote, the label, or having it mean too much. You know what I'm saying? Like, okay, you're okay. I want you to come to this wedding with me. This will be a really good time. But my family will be there, which means, you know, it almost means, like, it's almost like it's a pressure thing as far as the relationship goes. Like, you know, because they're in a good. They're in a good spot, everything's cool. But she's afraid that maybe they're. This wedding will put added pressure for them to, quote, unquote, take the next step in the relationship, which she may not be ready for.
Well, and it's just gonna put a magnifying glass on where you are in the relationship. You're gonna get to really see how that feels if you bring him to the wedding. And that's great. I think it's so important to have all of the information and to know where you stand. So it's almost like a little experiment. You can see how things are going.
It's a test drive.
Yeah, absolutely. And if it goes well, fantastic. And if it doesn't, good to know. Three versus three years, then, right?
You trade it in, you get a different model, you're good to go.
There you go.
See? Rust proofing.
Weddings are something. Weddings bring up a lot for people. A lot of past fears, a lot of emotion, a lot of what they want for their own lives.
There's a lot of expectations when it comes to weddings, when it comes to being a guest at a wedding, as far as who you should bring. What's it gonna look like if I don't bring a date and I bring. If it's. Say it's a lady. And you know what? If I don't bring a guy that I'm dating, I just bring a girlfriend and we go and have a good time. You know, what's that good? Like, there's all these different scenarios that go, yeah.
And I'm saying, throw out the rule book and just go and be yourself, have fun and do what feels right. Perfect editing. Enjoy. Three months in, there are no rules. There's no perfect timeline. Like, oh, we've been together a year. So now it's time. Just go for it.
