Decision Making Can Be Easier...

Rebeccah Silence offers three ways to make decisions easier: trust you already have the answer, clarify what you don't want to find what you do, and reduce choices to yes or no. She emphasizes naming your fears and taking one next action.
That decisions can be easier. It's so interesting navigating our way through decision making. And a lot of times we can get confronted and confused by and just scared to make decisions. And decisions are always access to more power, actually more control over our lives and our not situation, but the experience that we're having about the situations and the results that we find ourselves in. So I wanted to just take some time to share three ways to make decisions easier. I'm not saying that they're easy, but I do think that decisions can be easier. So the first thing, when you're up against a hard decision or floundering and just feeling like you just don't know what to do, we know it's time to make a decision. When a decision seems difficult, but also when a decision just feels like the last thing to do, you just don't know what to do at all. So decisions making becomes more stressful. That's the time to figure out your next decision. So number one, you've got to trust that you have the answer. When it feels super hard is when it's easy to think other people have the answer or someone else maybe should be guiding and telling you what to do. But no, you've got the final answer, the final say. You are the lifeline and it can be challenging, but I want you to step into the possibility anyway to trust that you know, you, you know, you know what's best for you, you know what's best for the scenario, I guarantee it. And we learn to doubt ourselves. And when decision making gets difficult, doubt gets high. And that access to trusting that we have the answer can seem far away or non existent. But I want you to trust that you do know. Not maybe big picture what should happen. But, but at least the next right step, trust that you've got it. And I know that when we try to decide for other people, it doesn't work out. And I have definitely been guilty of that. And when I've wanted other people to decide for me and when I see other people thinking that someone should be deciding for them, it doesn't work out well either. So trust that you know at least what the next right step is. The second thing is when you know what you don't want, it gives you access to what you do want every single time. So if you need to start by writing down in the situation that you find yourself in, here's what I don't want to happen. Go there first and then just right next to it, well, what would I want instead? But let's Give all that fear a voice. Let's give all of the what we don't want. An opportunity to be spoken and written down and to have some life breathed into it so that we can start to see life beyond what we don't want. And I think this is a huge part of where people fail in decision making. When all they can see is what they don't want and they don't get beyond that. It just creates more stress, more frustration and more seemingly there is no hope or win or solution available. And there always is. There always is. And then the third thing is we can make decision making as simple as, well, what's a no and what's a yes? And just start there, just start there. Like right now I have two projects in front of me. Which one do I want to start with or if neither one, what's the next thing I'm going to do instead? And I know I'm making this all sound really generic and really simple, but if you break decisions down in this way, knowing you've got the next right step in you knowing that it's okay to focus on what you don't want and then to think about, well, what do I want instead, and then knowing, wait a minute, every decision comes down to what's a yes and what's a no. And when we agree to a decision that's a no for us, again, we suffer more. So it's about getting beyond the no, getting beyond what we don't want and getting closer to the answers that we have inside of ourselves. I just finished a four hour coaching intensive just now with a gorgeous man who is up against decisions at the stage of life that he's at. And it's easy to be focused on. I don't have the answers, I'm confused. It doesn't seem like there's any hope or any way to really be fulfilled or win. And there's always a way to be fulfilled and there is always a way to win. And we just have to believe that the inspiration inside of us can guide us home. And all I mean by inspiration is, is that highest version of you that knows and you know what you're tolerating, you know what you're avoiding, you know what you actually want. If you would be brave enough to let yourself commit to and pursue it. So these are my three steps to make decision making easier, more simple. And your life is waiting for you to make your next right decision. Whatever it is, whether it's about self care, a meal, what you are doing with money, what you are doing with relationships, what you are doing with your own self growth and stimulation.
