Embracing Your Wins: How to Celebrate More So That You Can Receive the Good Stuff!

A short, conversational YouTube/radio segment (Mental Wellness Wednesday) featuring host Gary Spears and life coach Rebeccah Silence. The episode focuses on maintaining momentum by celebrating small victories, resisting the habitual fear that "good" will be followed by bad, and learning to "own" successes humbly. Rebeccah uses a personal anecdote (pregnant, later diagnosed with cancer) to show how being present and celebrating minor moments builds resilience. Practical guidance: celebrate small wins, allow yourself to receive good, own achievements to inspire others, and surround yourself with people who honor your victories.
We're live and local. It's mixed with a 2.5 with Big Papa in the morning. It is a mental wellness Wednesday. Life coach Rebecca Silence. Rebecca silence dot com. Rebecca, how are you this morning?
I am so well and ready for you. What you got?
Well, the, the last couple weeks have been really good for both of us on, on different fronts. You know, whether it's professionally or privately or family wise or whatever. Let's talk about maintaining the momentum. A lot of times, a lot of times we're talking about, God, how do I get out of this mess? There's so much of that that we talk about.
Yes.
So, so when we start to talk about like, hey, things are kind of going pretty well right now. How can we help maintain that, you know, that momentum and help keep that, you know, that inertia going to keep going and going and getting, getting better and better. Have that snowball go, that snowball going down. Have it be a positive thing, you know what I'm saying?
Oh, good. I know exactly what you're saying. So without further ado, the first most important way to maintain momentum is to celebrate the seemingly insignificant wins along the way. So I was just sharing with Gary before we started how this morning at 7am I'm drinking coffee, I watching the 9 year old do backflips and land them, and I'm watching my 9 year old literally saying to herself, seneca, you can do this, Seneca, you can do this. And then she lands it and then she's celebrating. So this is the pathway to momentum. Giving yourself permission to talk to yourself like you've already won. And then even if it doesn't feel like the ultimate victory, like you don't have the ultimate amount of money in the bank, you don't have the ultimate number on the scale, you don't have the ultimate, you know, date night that you imagine for yourself. But it's progress. You know, I was just working with a client whose partner is showing up so much differently. But it's very seemingly insignificant if she doesn't let herself celebrate that. Getting her coffee in the morning, asking her how her day was before anything else, those weren't happening. So she's wanting like the red carpet and the roses in the bathtub and all the things, but she's getting coffee and there's actual generation of how are you doing? Right. So celebrating the little things along the way, I can't emphasize enough how important that is. The second thing is don't be afraid of the good stuff. It is wired in our systems to think that good comes with bad. And we unconsciously, sometimes consciously, but mostly unconsciously, are doing that, waiting for the other shoe to drop. All right, this is good, but not forever, not for long. What's coming next? So when we do that bs, we miss the moment, obviously, but we. We prevent momentum. If today's conversation is about keeping momentum going, when we're waiting for the other shoot to drop, we stall out the car when we don't trust the good because we're so much more comfortable with navigating the chaos or the crap we've stalled out. So this is the way I like to say it, okay? Nothing is happening to you. Nothing is happening for you. Life is just happening. And you can move forward in faith, knowing you get to enjoy the seemingly unpreferential moments. Let me tell you a quick story. Story. So before.
Before you get. Before you start that story for that and my. My Achilles heel when it comes to this, we're going to talk about it online right now@mix1025.com on a mental wellness Wednesday with life Coach Rebecca. Silence. RebeccaSilentz.com all right, go ahead.
Okay. I've never told this story publicly. So I'm five months pregnant with Seneca, who we were just talking about. Didn't know I had cancer yet. For those of you that don't know me, I was diagnosed with cancer while I was seven months pregnant with Seneca. So this is two months before the diagnosis. And I had paid the most money I'd ever paid for this luxury retreat. And we, instead of staying at our gorgeous digs, better than anything I'd ever seen in my life, we get dropped off in the middle of the woods and left there. Now, the point of the story is I'm finding myself pregnant in a poncho in the rain, peeing in the woods, laughing. Because I realized in that moment, I can be content and at peace and okay even in situations that are not ideal, are not preferential, are not going my quote unquote way. And two months later, I got diagnosed with cancer. That lesson was so profound, but can you see how seemingly insignificant it is? This is just a moment where I'm peeing in the woods, pregnant in a poncho in the rain. But that moment helped me realize I can be okay no matter what. I can be celebrating and fully living in any moment. So I'm not asking us to be positive, but I'm asking you to be present enough in the moment where you celebrate the best of you and the best of what life has to offer. You in the moment. So what's your, what's your kryptonite?
No, my kryptonite is things are, things are going well, but I'm also very self aware and I know that there's a fine line between being excited and celebrating a win and being braggadocious and coming off like, you know, holier than thou. So that's like, that's the tightrope that I walk. Because, you know, I'm, I'm very excited about some of the stuff professionally that's going on in my world, but I don't want to dwell on it because, you know, I want to celebrate it because it's worth celebrating. I'm very proud of these things. But at the same time, I don't want to quote, unquote, go overboard or do too much because I know that perception's reality. And, you know, I don't want to come off as, oh, look at this guy, he thinks he's better than everybody. And I realize it's, it's different because of my, my, you know, my career choice, my, you know, what I do for a living, but it is something that I deal with and that's, that's my part of where this is going, you know?
Mm. Well, we were just talking right before this segment about, like I asked you, would 13 year old Gary have ever been able to comprehend all the good stuff right now that you're experiencing in your life? And you looked at me so genuinely, you're like, no, right? And I think there's a, there's a delicate line between being humble and owning it. Owning, because this didn't happen by accident, right? What you're celebrating didn't happen by accident. Me being a published author who's award winning and in many ways globally renowned. That's just facts. I can own it. And that doesn't mean I'm trying to be superior to anybody. The way I think about it is I want to humbly own it. Who I am, what I've created and really honoring that, I've earned it because I want people to know if I can do it, so can they. And I think that intention underneath it all is so important. If I hold back, you know, we've, we've talked about on this show, I get to have this amazing love story and this amazing business and how I grew up literally beaten down and silenced. And now this is my life. I want to showcase that. Not because I'm bragging, but because if I can freaking do it, anybody can do it, right? So anybody, if you're humbly owning it so that other people can see what's possible for them from that energy. If anybody's going to be like, who does he think he is? Who does she think she is? Who do they think they are? Bye. I think I'm Rebecca. Silence. You think you're Gary Spears? Like, we, we didn't just get spoon fed, you know, you and I are a couple of people that, you know, I don't want to.
We grind, we grind.
But we also didn't come from a lot in a lot of ways. And I'm not unappreciative of where I come from. Right. I appreciate my roots, I celebrate it. But I never had a woman in my family, owned her own business, could financially support herself, you know, and. And you created your wildest dreams come true, and so have I. And in many ways, we're just getting started. But I think there's power in owning it. And we're still human and we're still humble and we don't take it for granted. Right? Because things change like that. So the bottom line is life is precious and so are you. And you are meant to enjoy your life and nobody else is going to tell you it is safe to receive the good stuff. It is important that life becomes about joy and excitement because you've been through enough. So owning it, honoring it, being in constant pursuit of the next moment to enjoy and enjoying the moments that seem insignificant, enjoying the small victories along the way, that's how you have momentum. And then find the people that want to honor the crap out of your victories and where you're headed and what you've created and then honor the people around you. I'm constantly honoring people's small victories that they wouldn't have even celebrated. And then we celebrate the big stuff too, but it's all sacred and it's all important, just like you.
So I'm going to celebrate the fact and own the fact that, oh my God, I'm going to be an opening musical act for a guy that I had would literally put a jean jacket on, flip up the collar and grab a yardstick and pretend that was a guitar and go around the living room pretending I was him. I'm opening for that guy.
You're the only DJ that ever has opened for him.
I was. That was the very first. Yeah.
I mean, this is a big deal. So beautiful celebration. And everyone listening today find one thing at least to celebrate and share it with someone, somebody. And let us know how that goes. That doesn't make you arrogant. That doesn't make you bragadocious. That doesn't make you annoying. You know? And we are also hardwired to think we're too much or to fear that we're going to be received as too much. Be so freaking too much today. Be too much and celebrate and repel anybody that can't handle that vibe. Because in this season of life in 2024, the vibe is celebration and full on living.
Do you think I could, like, just grab a bunch of yardsticks and just like sign them and sell them?
I mean, we could try. This segment is selling them too much. Don't be afraid to dream because it'll happen when you commit to it. You know, that's the point.
