The piece mixes practical tips with personal anecdote and light banter (mentioning the Pretty Woman musical) and ends with a pointer to RebeccaSilence.com.
Getting through and taking care of your to do list.
Busy season means you need to be set up well. Not your family needs to be set up well. Your kids need to be set up well. You need to be set up well so that the rest can work itself out and be set up well.
Mix 102.5, the best mix from the 90s to now. Big pop in the afternoon. Mental wellness Wednesday, Life coach, relationship coach. Coach of anything and everything. Silence here with us. Rebecca, how are you?
Well, hello, everyone. I am ready. What do we have for today?
So you and I do we have no idea what we're going to talk about going into any of these segments. Yeah, we really don't. And a lot of times it's, hey, can we do this on this day at this time? And then it's all right, well, what about this day on this time? And we always, we always seem to make it work. Yeah. But just before we started to hit record, we both were like, man, I'm busy. So let's talk about getting through and taking care of your to do list. Prioritizing if you have a busy schedule, trying not to feel overwhelmed, especially this time of the year, if you're a parent because not only do you have your stuff, your work stuff, but then you're playing, you know, Duber or mover to your kids, dad Uber or mom Uber for your kids to all of their practices and games and yeah, you know, all that other stuff on top of it. So it's. This is a very stressful time of the year with lots of stuff going on.
Absolutely. This is such a good conversation. And I really want to be careful about the word busy because that doesn't have to mean overwhelm or pressure or you spread really thin, exhausted. What we associate when we think of the word busy, when I think busy season, I think this is essential in meeting well season. So busy season means you need to be set up well, not your family needs to be set up well, your kids need to be set up, you need to be set up well so that the rest can work itself out and be set up well. Right. So we're not here to just to do list our way through the busy season. Now is the time for you to be as present as, as possible. Busy will be more effective, will be more fun, will be less stressful right when you're present. So if you're constantly in 10 steps ahead of the moment, you're distracted, people can't feel you and you're not going to be able to lead or Think as clearly or as empowered. So this is the time, historically, I think, you know, this is the 16th year my company has been around. Every fall, I do more in the last quarter of the year than typically the first nine months of the year combined. Every year. This is the. The season. I don't know if it's because it's my birthday. I don't know, you know, what it is. But every fall, I crush. And so what if we can be more empowered and think about this is the time of year where I crush instead of this is the time of year that crushes me. I crush this time of year. This time of year doesn't crush me. You can crush this time of the year and not get crushed. And then let me give you three more tips to really set yourself up. Well, we already talked about being present, and I want us reframing you crushed this season, not you get crushed. All right? And then three. Three tips I've got for you. Now is the time of year to tell the people that expect your time and attention at their beck and call. You're not available for that. Tell them I got a lot going on this time of year. Communicate that, thank God I've got a best friend that is understanding. She knows this time of year I am slammed. But that doesn't mean I'm not present. I communicate. We've got every Tuesday morning, 6am her time, 7am my time, the rest of the year on Tuesdays, a peloton ride from our states connected together because we communicate. Here's what's going on. Let's set up our time together. Well, because it's still a priority. So communicate with people. What's going on. Number two, use busy season as your perfect excuse and opportunity to say no a hell of a lot more often. Say no to anything that doesn't keep your momentum flowing and doesn't keep you on pace and on track with what the real priorities are. And then the final thing is make sure the real priorities are not what you think needs to happen, but what actually honor, respect, and take care of you. Prioritize what matters most to you. Unapologetically say no. Don't let your. Your guilt, your fear of what other people's reaction is going to be, have you derailed or disconnected from what's most important right now. You can win this season. I want you to. People can wait. You're worth waiting for. Your time is precious, and this is the time of year to go.
Crash Rebecca, Real quick, people. I know that there are people right now that feel like they're already in the tornado. They're the eye of the tornado, and half the time they're in their phone. Half the time they're, you know, on their way to the next thing and whatnot. And, you know, you talked about being present. What is a good way if they feel like they're already in that cyclone? If you will, to put the help, put the brakes on and just take a deep breath and be like, whoa. Okay. All right, now let's go.
Right, so this is where I love to talk about channel Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman. You say who you say when you say how much. All right. This is about intentionality. What I mean by intentionality is you're very focused on your vision ahead of the game. So when you're intentional, it means you know what you're doing, you know why you're doing it, and you know that it is what is important, and you're powerfully choosing it. You say who, you say when, you say how much. The other side of that coin is reactivity. So the more reactive you are, the more stressed, drained, exhausted, and depleted you are. We don't want you reactive. We want you intentional. You. It's all a powerful choice. It's all a powerful choice. It's all a powerful choice when you're intentional. Let yourself be Julia Roberts intentional.
By the way, Broadway Utica just had Pretty Woman, the musical. They text at the Stanley and they just started their. Their nationwide tour and I got to see a little sneak peek. So if you get the chance, definitely go and see it. When it comes to when it comes.
I've seen it in Denver, Mark and I, for anniversary. Pretty Woman is my favorite movie. The musical is awesome. I love that it's in Utica and that I didn't even know and that I just brought it up.
Oh, yeah, it's fantastic. And the music, the original music for the. For the. Bryan Adams did the. Did all the extra music. Right.
I remember that now. I know, I know. Yeah. So this is what we'll leave you with this busy season. Everything you do, do it for you. We'll bring Bryan Adams into the conversation.
Oh, boy. All right. And. And otherwise, go back to the summer of 69. It's, well, this Wednesday. Life coach Rebecca. Silence. All. You know, you can get the book. You can all. Everything is available. RebeccaSilence.com and Rebecca, thank you so much for the time, and we'll talk to you next week.
