Healing Message: How do we transition back to living "in the world" while we are still in COVID?

Rebecca Silence offers guidance on navigating life transitions during COVID-19, emphasizing being intentional about planning for different scenarios and taking personal responsibility for leading yourself through change.
The world opening back up. How do we create boundaries and embrace the real responsibility of choosing how we're going to live now that more and more and more life is opening back up? I'm Rebecca Silence, creator of Healing is Possible with your Monday Healing message around how to transition. And not just during COVID but in any season of our life. When change happens, transition is what makes or breaks the experience of how the change goes. You know, it's easy to think about an example of just change of seasons. We have different wardrobes, we have different potentially tires on our car, we have different routines. If it's summer vacation versus, you know, a school week and schools in session, transition is something that I don't think we think about often enough. And during COVID transition is on my mind, especially now that I've got clients. And personally, we're all having to choose what makes sense for us and what doesn't. How are we going to spend our time? Who are we going to spend our time with? What choices are we making? And no one can make the choices for us. You know, and Covid made a lot of decisions for us for a time. And then we've all been free and autonomous and able to make our own decisions the whole time in some ways. But now that mandated. Here are the suggested recommendations. Way that we've been living for over a year is loosening up and the responsibility really is back on each of our own personal shoulders. So what makes sense? What doesn't make sense? That that's the question. And how can you make the transition back into working at an office when you've been working from home easier? How can you make the transition for your kids who have maybe been at school remotely and now they're going back to school in person easier? How can you navigate a spouse or family members making these big transitions easier in your own? That's what we're going to talk about today. So I have three ideas around how to make the transition easier. Number one, be intentional. Do you know the intention behind the choice you're making? You know, if you have an opportunity to go back to work in person, do you know why you're agreeing to that? Or are you just saying yes on autopilot? Or if you're having that opportunity and not feeling good about it, do you know why you would prefer to stay home? What's the intention behind the choice? Do you have one that's step one to make transitions easier? Number two, have you thought about the worst case scenario and what you would do now? This isn't fear based, this is a way to be in leadership and empowered and ahead of the game. So what do I mean? Have you thought about the worst case scenario? Have you thought about, you know, is everyone at your office vaccinated? Or are you wanting to be vaccinated or not? Or what happens if you do get Covid? What would you do? These are just examples. Again, it's not to be fear based. It's so that you have a plan. When you're intentional and really knowing why you're making the decisions that you're making. And you've already thought about the scenarios that could derail you and what you would do when you're there, you're really pretty unshakable. And there's so much that we can't plan for, but there's so much that we can plan for, prepare for, navigate, anticipate. And what I do want us to know, my third tip when it comes to transitions is whatever situation you find yourself in, you have what it takes to lead yourself through it. Whatever situation you find yourself in, whether you want to believe me or not, I'm just going to say these words, take them in, do what you want with them. You've got what it takes. You don't need anybody else to make these decisions for you. You know what's best for you. You know where you're a yes, you know where you're a no. And if you think about the transition before you're in it, you can feel more in leadership because you're intentional, because you know why you're making the choice and because you've really thought through the ins and the outs and the scenarios that could go along with the choice. And I think one of the biggest gifts that we've got, while yes, there's responsibility to make some new choices again, to figure out where going back into the world makes sense and then maybe where you've still got firm boundaries around what you're not willing to participate in. Wherever you're at, just know that you can make the transition easier. And the responsibility is a gift. You get to be responsible for the choices that make sense for you. There's so much freedom in that. I think there's so much freedom in you committing to trusting yourself and you committing to being the one in leadership of the choices that you're making. And there's so much about the world right now that we have no control over. But what you decide, you have control over how you set yourself up in making your decisions work for you. You have control over and there's no right answers. We can have all of the best intention and think we know why we're making a choice and have really thought through what makes sense and what doesn't and still feel blindsided or still fail. And that's all okay. It's all learning and growing. But I want us empowered as life changes again to be in leadership of how we handle life right now. And I want us empowered to make the transition from the way we've been living into our next season of how we're going to live as seamless and as easy as possible. It's not ever going to be, you know, seamless, but we can make it easier on ourselves because we're clear, we're intentional, we know the why behind the choice we're making and we've really thought it through. Start there. Because there's no right answer. There's no wrong answer. And not everybody's going to agree with or support your strategy or your choices right now as we all navigate this next level of 2021, this next level of life during COVID 19. But you've got the answers. You've got it in you to lead. That I know for sure. And that is your healing as possible.
