Rebeccah Silence suggests asking each family member to pick two or three summer experiences they want, then building in daily breaks inspired by the siesta: 30 minutes to two hours with phones off, no work, just reading or napping. Even brief downtime resets stress and works year-round.

Let's slow it down and actually enjoy. And if you build that in the summer, you can bring it into fall. You can bring it into winter. It's just part of your lifestyle.
How do we make the most out of our summer, whether it be individually or for the entire family?
Check in with every single person under your roof. What are 2 to 3 things each person in the house wants to experience this summer. In my house, I am the paddleboard queen. I want to go paddleboarding as much as I possibly can. The last week, my 11-year-old and I went to Spain. That was our big thing for the summer, the two of us together with 20 other kids on a school trip. But that was like our big thing that was super important to us in Spain. What do you want to experience? And then taking a play from my week in Spain, I also wanna just suggest slowing it down. It's okay to slow it down. In Spain, they siesta every afternoon, which means a nap. I don't nap, but I thought this seems like actually a very fun idea. Like what if even on Friday afternoons I gave myself 2 hours to put the phone away, turn off the computer, stop working, read, nap, hit my hot tub, take a walk. And you might be thinking, yeah, Rebeccah, I don't have the luxury. Of taking 2 hours. I'm working 3 jobs. I have all of these responsibilities, but I want you to just at least consider even 30 minutes a day with yourself is everything. And of course you have time for that. When I feel busy, I slow it down. When I feel busy, I take more time to just wait a minute. Let's reset.
When in doubt, this summer, just, uh, just do a Rebeccah Siesta.
