How To Step Into Who You Really Are! | Energy Healer/Intuitive Jennifer Norton

Rebeccah Silence talks with energy healer Jennifer Norton about finding your true self beneath your personality. Norton describes that self as pure love, peace, and light, accessible through humility, stillness, and surrendering the need to know. She frames illness and suffering as wake-up calls rather than defining labels.
Creator of healing is possible. And today we are taking on something that I see in personal relationships with my clients all the time, which is confusion around who am I? And a big part of who am I? And answering that question for yourself is really looking at how do you identify? Who do you identify as? What do you identify with? And we will get even more specific about what that means with our special guest, an energy healer back in the hot seat in high demand, Jennifer Norton. We are here to do some energy work and to really align with the identity that inspires us, empowers us, is divinely who we are.
Yeah.
Hi, Jennifer.
Hi.
Just go. Let's go.
So we're all pretty mistaken about who and what we are. Right. And we assume a lot of things about ourselves that are just completely not true. So just to set the record straight, what we really are deep within and just within and throughout our whole being is pure love, peace and light. That is it.
The what if someone listening says that sounds pretty absolute. And how do you know that that's who I really am?
Well, it's an experience, right? It's some. It's something. It's. For me, it's been kind of experiential, something I've been learning. It comes through a lot of spiritual teachings, too. I mean, if you look at most spiritual teachers, they're all trying to tell us that who and what we really are is pure love and light, that the personality self is just a distortion. It's really not the truth of who and what we are. And we get caught up in it, though it feels like it is. It seems like it. It's very personal. And that's half the problem, right? It's like that. It is very personal to us because we've spent a long time developing this personality. Yeah. And the thing is, we can identify with great things and we can identify with not so great things. And the problem is we tend to identify with the not so great things. Right. Like the I'm not enoughness, or the I'm just this limited self, or I'm the sick one, or I'm. I could even be an identity. Like I'm a yogi, I'm a vegan, I'm a healer. I can eat whatever I want. I mean, it's. But either way, it's like there are all kind of thoughts and beliefs and ideas that they can't. That doesn't define who and what you are. Right. That pureness, that purity of your own being.
So this conversation, because I think when we identify with anything that has a suffer. We disconnect more and more from that experience of alignment with our own self, soul and life purpose. And for me, when I, six years ago, was pregnant, had cancer in bed, the most challenging part of that experience was getting just hit over the head with all the ways I had been identifying that no longer seemed like they were a possibility. I was a business owner, I was healthy, I was a great mom. I was all of these things that then were gone. And it ended up being very liberating. But I do believe that when we're suffering, we're in a survival personality and we do get access to as adults, becoming who we want to become. So for me, that was my kind of spiritual identity crisis season that I'm so grateful for now. But man, was it brutal.
Yeah. Yeah. You had a massive wake up call call. And illness, illness can be a massive wake up call, unfortunately, or, you know, but. But it's like when you see when you're on the other side of it or even as you're going through it, hopefully you can eventually get to that place of the gift of what it's bringing you and what it's taking away.
And sometimes I just wanted to say this too. And it's so easy, I think, to identify with a diagnosis or an illness. And I think that's one of the things that definitely saved my life. I refused to identify as dying or as the cancer being a part of me. Yeah, I refused.
Well, that is actually amazing that you were able to do that because that takes a massive amount of strength, willpower, you know, not a lot of people can do that. So. Wow, I'm impressed. Yeah.
And I just want everyone to think about these, these illnesses, these diagnoses, these labels as wake up call opportunities and not a sentence that you don't have control over.
Yeah.
So I'll stop talking here, Jennifer, and let you take it away. I just wanted to. To speak to a few of these pieces because we don't need to be suffering as the rule that we live by. And today's hot seat is really going to help anybody suffering work through some of that.
Yeah. Because anything and everything that I'm saying is going to help you purify whatever's going on for you. Okay. That's my natural gift and ability to purify people's patterns, beliefs and states of being or emotion. So just by listening to this video, you're having a healing of some nature. That's one of the things I want to say. That's just one of my gifts. I don't necessarily identify with it anymore. It's just been part of my nature.
Yeah.
So, yeah, because the beings that we are calling ourselves, whatever we're calling ourselves, I mean, it can even be the identity of like, mother, daughter, sister, wife, or if you're a man, a husband, a father, you know, all of these identities, again, they're roles that we can take on. But what we really are is an entity with a body. Right. We're a spiritual entity with a body. And, you know, we're here doing the best we can. And the great news is that things are shifting so fast on our planet, and we are really in a time where the frequencies have risen a great deal. And so all of these kind of things that we used to limit ourselves with or by, you know, these identities and beliefs, these are being stripped away, literally being stripped away. And we can stop searching for answers outside of ourselves as a result of that, because we're starting to come into the knowingness of who and what we really are again. That pure love, that peace, that light. And, you know, it does help, I think, to get still and practice stillness and be in a place where you can access that deeper wisdom within you and that part of who you are. Because if you're just running around doing, doing, doing, and, you know, trying this and trying that, and that's just gonna kind of keep you more distant from that. Or separate.
And I love that word you're using, Jennifer, the word separate. Because I do think identities of any kind keep us separate, when what the world needs and what will help us all heal is connection. So what do you have for us today? Are you going to take us through some energy work?
Actually, I'm not sure. Let me see what wants to come through. I mean, everything we're talking about is actually some kind of an energy healing, Right? So as we're discussing this, it's going to have an effect on people's nervous systems and on their energy body. So it doesn't matter if we make it formal or not, but we can. Let me just see. Yeah, okay. So another thing that's sort of been coming up into my conscious awareness recently is this, if you want to call it, we'll call it like a pillar, a spiritual pillar. And the word is humility. And the spiritual pillar of humility is what helps us really access in a much deeper way that wisdom, that delicious part of who we are. And humility comes from, not from humiliation, but it comes from letting go of trying to know things. It comes from efforting the idea that we have to know something in order for it to be true. So humility is really kind of got a little bit of faith wrapped up in it. Because humility is sort of about letting go of control. It's about stepping back and just going, huh, maybe I don't know everything. And when we step into the. That maybe I don't know anything or I don't know what anything is for. That's one of my favorite course in miracles lessons, the I don't know what anything is for. When we can really step into that. There's a space, space there of humbleness, of humility, of like, you know, maybe this ego doesn't have all the answers, which it really doesn't. It's desperately searching for answers. And because it. It wants a way out of this, you know, there's. That part of our personality knows that things aren't the way they seem, that things aren't the right, if you want to call it that. And it's desperately searching for answers. And so then it thinks it's got to do all these spiritual gymnastics in order to. To get to where it thinks it needs to be, right to that place of peace. It's like, well, if only this. So just coming back to the pillar of humility, where we can just kind of all take a break. So in this moment, let's just close our eyes and surrender into not knowing. Take a break from having the need to know anything. It's so refreshing. You don't need to know anything right now. You don't need to know how anything's going to work itself out right now. You don't have to have an answer. And as you surrender into this space of deep not knowing, the paradox is that unbelievable wisdom can come to you or just peace. So giving yourself permission to not know anything and allowing the divine grace.
Within.
Us and around us to gently offer what might seem like an answer, or it may just gently offer a feeling of relaxation or peace within you. And in this space, we're not alone, right? We are connected to the source of all that is. We are connected to our higher power. And it's when we surrender to that wisdom, to that knowledge, we can just get out of the way of trying to figure it out and allow the answers to come through. And the answers are always going to be really gentle and loving. So if you're feeling harried, like a sense of, I got to do this now, that is not your source. That is still your ego. And that's okay. It's just. It can really try to jump in there and. But as you surrender into that place of deeper not knowing and humility, just explore here. Because it's vast. There is a vastness to this space. And all the noise, the background noise of your mind kind of just stops. Because when you go to this place of being willing to not know anything in this moment, it just kind of stops that monkey mind in its tracks. It's a beautiful place because it's the place of no identity. And then we can allow that deeper grace to kind of fill in the cracks, to let that the piece of our loving nature enter into this space. The longer I sit in this beautiful space of the silence within, I just. I feel like I could stay here. You know, it's a nice escape from the world, but it's a very helpful place to go to. You know, just opening up to that deep, vast, humble place. And so what happens is, I don't know if it happens for you or if it's happening for others. It's sort of like more of who and what you are can enter because you've let go of thinking, you know, who and what you are. So just whenever anyone and everyone is ready, you can sort of kind of come back to this moment, into this space, hopefully feeling a little more refreshed.
Jennifer, thank you. I was privileged, maybe. I did five of these retreats. It was called the Abundant Living Retreat. And when we went, we basically weren't allowed to share what we did, who we were in our personal lives. You could put whatever name you wanted on your name tag. It didn't even have to be your own name. And there was a huge amount of the time in those seminars where we were just on silence, eating, Gratitude for meals, and wow, what an opportunity to really connect to this possibility that we are and have everything we need in any given moment. And the identity we have for ourselves is irrelevant in any given moment. And I remember when I got sick being so grateful for the opportunity to have done that work in those seminars prior. It felt so prepped.
Yeah. What a gift.
Oh, my goodness. Yes. Yes. Such a tremendous gift. So thank you to Eric Plattenberg that put those seminars on. I loved what you said about. It's in the not knowing that there is no identity.
Yeah.
And what if that can liberate us instead of terrify us?
Yeah. It's actually very liberating and really refreshing. I mean, to me, when I first did this, it just took me to this place of deep relaxation. It was like, I don't have to know anything. I Don't have to effort. Right. Because, I mean, I've spent many, many years as a medical intuitive for people with like, mystery illness and things like that, where it's like they want answers and they're trying to find them, and I'm trying to help them find those answers. And it's like, what if we just let go of trying to figure this out, you know, and then let it be revealed? And that was. And so that's the space I have to access when I work with people. And thankfully, it's not that hard for me, but for most people, I think it is a little bit of a challenge.
Yeah. Well, and I'm thinking about the other course in miracles lesson. Nothing real can be threatened. And I think that when we're willing to get still and let go of control or thinking we know or trying to be the person that figures it out, we get to see what is real. And you can, at least in my experience, be committed without the push. Anytime I push, I'm prolonging the inevitable real end game that's gonna show up no matter what I do. Let yourself see.
Yeah.
And then you can choose. But I do believe we're gonna end up where we're gonna end up and that what's real is that we're not meant to suffer.
We're not meant to suffer. I mean, it's. It's the identity wrapped up with suffering that suffers.
But say more about that. That's so good.
Well, we can. We have, you know, we have ideas and identities around, you know, suffering. We can even like, take on a. An archetype, Right? And we can take on a martyr archetype, a victim archetype. You know, those are archetypes that are identifying with some form of suffering. And it's okay, you know, don't get hard on yourself if this is something you've done or you identify with or even an identity or an archetype of somebody being, you know, unhealthy or ill. It's like we've inherited a lot of stuff. We've inherited a lot of patterns. We've inherited a lot of illness and a lot of toxins. We've inherited things from our environment and our family. And so however that ends up manifesting in these physical vehicles, you know, it's like, now we just have to remember, okay, I'm an identity with a body. This is not the who and what of I am like this illness or this problem. So coming back to, like you said, nothing real can be threatened. Knowing that you are an indestructible being. You know, we may experience what looks like death where we drop this body, but that eternal, indestructible part of who we are is going to continue. And that's kind of like just part of a journey. Right. That we all are on. But while we're here, we do want to experience the best of what we can as we drop these patterns related to illness and suffering and whatever lack and scarcity. There's so many patterns, we can start to experience more of that higher frequency of joy and expansion and beingness. It doesn't mean we're kind of incapable of doing things. It's just you feel. It's like you do things as you feel guided, not as you feel pressured. Right. Ego is going to pressure us. Spirit is going to inspire us.
And I love that process, that idea of following the guidance. I've heard Oprah talk about this so many times that she's just always listening for that divine guidance and getting out of the way and following that. And I think that's a great process for people to take from today's hot seat into their lives today and this week. Just follow the guidance, and then you'll still get things done, but in a whole new energy.
Yeah. Especially because if you're willing there. So the course in Miracles also talks about willingness, that you only need a little willingness. And it's true, it just takes a little willingness. But as you're willing to do this, it's really about being willing to let go of control. And as you're letting go of control and you're letting go of the mind that thinks it knows, letting go of all of these things that kind of keep us sort of stuck in limitation, then it just allows for that place, that expansion to happen. Right. For that humility to kind of come in and just go. And then you can just go, oh, I can just relax.
Yeah. Yeah. And if you would, please, also, before we wrap up, just speak to how temporary these moments are and the suffering is.
Yeah, well, they're temporary, although they can seem horrible while we're going through them. Right. Because the more we identify with it, that's where we get stuck. Right. If we're identifying with thoughts. So the thing is, if we're. We're getting stuck in a thought, right. In the thought is saying, I don't know, the thought could be telling you you're sick and you need to do something, or you're, you're not prepared enough for this thing, or you, you know, you're not good enough for this other thing, it's like whatever that thought pattern is, and as the deeper we identify with it and believe in it, the more we get enmeshed, and then it literally stops us in our tracks, we get stuck. And it's like when you start to become an observer of your self, really, as you step back and observe the thoughts that you're thinking. And it's like, oh, I'm identifying with this negative thought. Even a negative thought, like, oh, this person's a jerk. Right? It's like the more you really identify with that, it can just lead you down a path into a space that's just going to lower your frequency. And that's what happens when we identify with thoughts that aren't true. And newsflash, most thoughts aren't true. So when we can just sort of like. It's almost like letting this. When we observe those thoughts, it's like maybe imagining it's just this kind of incessant child in the corner that's just wanting attention. But it's sort of like, you know what? I don't need to pay attention to this thing right now. This is not relevant. It's not helpful.
Right?
And coming back to what is relevant and helpful, what do I know in the core of who I am? I'm peace and love and light. How is this thought over here helping me to remember that? Oh, it's not. So, yeah, that's. I hope that helps. But it's a practice, and it takes discipline. It sounds like you have amazing discipline, discipline and willpower to do that. And I know it's been an effort for me as well, but it's so worth it. There's a huge payoff.
Well, and I think it's pema chodran that says only when you're willing to subject yourself to annihilation can that which in you is indestructible be found. And what I want in this lifetime is to be the highest version of who I can be, making the most impact that I can while I'm here. And for everyone watching, there is an indestructible part of you that you may not have met yet or that you don't trust yet. And it, for me, took almost dying and having to face all my worst fears to kind of meet that version of myself. And I don't believe we need crisis. I think it takes commitment. And I think it's a huge gift, Jennifer, that you're bringing to all of us today to really imagine and fantasize that that indestructible part of ourselves is there more than maybe we give ourselves credit for. And I'm certainly not perfect at this, but I do know that when I'm suffering, I don't have to stay there. And there's something beyond it.
Yeah, exactly. And I love what you just said, that it doesn't have to take a crisis to. I think that's kind of the old paradigm, the old story, the old way. We're not there anymore, we're rising above that.
Well, and then we all just got leveled with a global pandemic and so many issues and injustices that we don't need to continue to participate in. So what a perfect time to rise up as individuals and then together and collectively.
Yeah, exactly.
