It's a Life Thing! What Does it mean to truly love your life?

Rebeccah Silence talks with Leah Valencia Key about what it means to truly love your life. They discuss learning from loss, listening to your inner whispers to align your actions, and telling the difference between fear and spiritual misalignment.
Hello. It's a life thing. And life is precious and it is sweet. And my dear friend, Leah Valencia Key just rocked it on the believe it becoming unstoppable stage last week. This is Rebecca Silence. It's a life thing. And I just want to welcome Leah, this earth angel that is changing lives. She's the ultimate giver, and she radiates love, light, and joy with her Leah Valencia Key jewelry line. If you don't already own her stuff, what are you waiting for? Leah, welcome to another edition of It's a Life Thing.
Well, it's an honor to be with you again. You bring me such joy, Leah.
You bring the world so much joy. And today, what I thought we could talk about is what does it mean to genuinely and sincerely and profoundly love life?
Right. That's deep. I like it.
What you got for us? What does it mean?
So when I think of that, I love that context. What does it mean to truly profoundly love life? I embody that as really embracing all parts of life. Because we can love the joy moments in life, right? We can love everything when everything's going great or when your dreams are actually coming true. That's beautiful and loving. But can you love when life gets rough? Can you love when you've lost someone? Can you love life when the worst thing in your life that you would ever think happened can happen? And when you're able to shift your mind in the valleys, the lowest valleys of life, to not necessarily love those valleys, but open your brain up to saying, okay, what is life telling me? What can I learn from this? Or. Or if it was a loss, what parts of that loss can I treasure and keep with me in order to radiate in the next part of my life or throughout my life? So what I mean by that is I can directly speak on loss because I lost my mother at a very early age, which I would venture to say is one of the most traumatic experiences one can actually receive, the loss of a parent. But what I did was I said, okay, this can go two ways for me. This can take me down a very sorrow, angry at the world moment of why? Why my mother, why me? Why, why? Or I can say, well, what major things that my mother implant in my spirit, and how can I allow that to radiate through my life and live on? I thought of my mother's words, and I thought of all the beautiful. My mother was a wordsmith. All the beautiful words she would pour into my spirit as a young lady, and those beautiful words became life to me. So she Lives on within me, which allows me to love life even to that most tragic moment. So then when I have these great, beautiful celebratory moments, that's great. But I can also find the goodness within the sorrow. And that is loving life fully.
Yeah. Oh, I love that. And I couldn't agree more that loving life is only possible when you do truly love all of it. And for me, when I had just had a baby and had stage three cancer and I couldn't get out of bed for nine months, I remember not wanting to love life, but then knowing that if I lost sight of loving life, I might lose my life.
Oh.
And I just had to choose. And I think in the difficult moments, that is where we have the opportunity to meet ourselves on a soul level.
Yeah.
And I knew I had to choose. How am I going to play this? How am I going to love the opportunity to keep living? And for me, what happened was I decided this was going to be the ultimate seminar. This was going to be the time to put all the personal growth work I had done into real, like, now the rubber meets the road. Now it all comes into play. And I am going to get to meet myself now. Because like you said, Leah, in those moments of joy, it is easy. Easy to be the highest version of ourselves.
It's easy, Right? Right. How do you love the opportunity, the greatness in life? That's not loving life. That's beautiful. When you were saying that, it came to my mind, too. Loving life to me is fighting for your life. If you start saying that, I'm like, oh, yes. So, okay, we can talk about that. Fluffy. Loving all the moments of life. That's nice. But if we take all of that away, loving life is loving it enough to fight for it and believe it beyond your circumstances to will it into a new existence. Because you love life that much.
Yes. And what if we love our lives into the existence that's possible in even the darkest, hardest moments, so we can model possibility not just for ourselves, but for others, for the generations that came before us, the generations that are coming after us. And for me, loving life is about loving all life, not just life. Mine is this much of it.
Yes. Yes. Oh, that's good, too. You can't just love your own life. Absolutely. Loving life is loving beyond you. That's beautiful.
It is. And I have a personal commitment. I don't know if you've heard of this book, Leah, but it's right next to me. It's called Business Made simple. And I was just doing an exercise from this book where I had to come up with the key characteristics for my company. And the number one key characteristic for my company, if you want to be affiliated with it, is, is you've got to have a commitment to fall in love with every life in front of you. Oh, and I to do that.
That is so interesting because I just did a talk, I don't know, a couple of weeks ago, but we were talking about building relationships. And my part of that talk was just that the relationship of you and life is the core of love, but the core of love is radiating that love to every existing thing around you, which then creates this spiral of greatness and whatever you want to manifest. Yes, yes.
And you were just also a part of the book Believe it, which I also have right over here.
Right.
You're featured in Believe It. You were on Jamie Kern Lima stage, man. Just popping open this global audience and cracking hearts open. And, you know, what would you say about how to believe the possibilities exist even when it seems impossible?
Yeah. Thank you for bringing up Believe it, because if anyone hasn't received it, it is a book to behold and to read because it cracks open that code. It's a journey of Jamie's life of truly choosing beyond what everything else says to be true, to follow her destiny, meaning listening to her inner self. And that's what we need to do. How do you believe me on? How do you make it? How do you. Well, the inner self is going to whisper your truth. It is. It's never failed me yet. But the power is truly hearing it and believing it against everything else around you, and then doing the actions that are lining up towards what your inner self. You can call it gut, you can call it God, you can call it small whisper, or whatever that is you hear is telling you what your purpose is, what you're supposed to be, where you're supposed to go in life. The part of the believing is then doing the actions that are aligned with that whisper. What we do is.
Say that again.
Ooh, what's the bed now? I forget what I say.
Okay, well, I sort of. I have it. Do you want me to paraphrase it back?
Paraphrase it, paraphrase it.
So you said part of believing it is connecting to that whisper, but then making sure that your actions align with it.
Yes, exactly. Exactly.
So good. That is profound.
That's major in believing, because what happens is you hear it, you say, uh huh, You. You believe it, like, okay, but then you start doing all the actions of what externally around you is telling you. To do well, you're not aligning with yourself to make it possible. You've got to align your actions to the whisper inside of you through the believing, and that will catapult you to your next level and next part of life.
Yeah, I've heard a lot about aligning your actions with your intentions, but I really love this around taking it to this next, deeper, more spiritual level of connecting your actions to your own truth, your own spiritual. Yes. And, you know, one of the things that I also wanted to ask you about today particularly, was just how do you know when. When something is a yes, when the action is aligned or when it's a no?
Yeah. So you'll know. The reason why you'll know is, one, whatever that whisper is, will a keep coming back to you?
Oh, that's so good.
Two. Right. Two, it becomes uncomfortable. It becomes like a wrong puzzle piece. When the whisper or the God word is saying this and your actions are trying to do this, it is a very uncomfortable moment of unalignment. Right. Where you know something's off, you know it's not right. Right. When you're aligned through your actions of what it is, you feel good about it. You may even. You may not even be sure if it's gonna work. Like, for example, my dream is to create jewelry that is visual, wearable symbols that inspire, empower people to unlock their greatness.
Well, most people right here, these are the root earrings.
Yeah. So says it's just jewelry that doesn't align. I mean, it's just jewelry. You're not gonna connect on a spiritual level with jewelry. It's not possible. So many jewelry lines out there, it's all going to be lumped in the same thing. And it's just jewelry. Right. But my inner voice says no. And so everything I do speaks life into that message. Meaning the pictures I take of my jewelry needs to speak life of light and greatness. The people that I pray to wear the jewelry speaks light and greatness. The words that I use around my jewelry needs to speak unlocking light. So everything is aligned in my vision, no matter what the world says. Because I don't really care what the world says, because when it's meant for you and you keep pouring into that vessel, it will rise and people will see the truth and then start accepting it. But you've got to be unshakable.
Yes.
You got to be unshakable in that. So your roots, one of my collections, are so strong, I think you're wearing root, roots and wings that it keeps Growing enough that people start to see your truth versus taking other people's truth and trying to make it your own.
Oh, and that is such a huge distinction. There is a big difference between your truth and trying to make someone else's truth your truth. And you're the only one that has access to your truth. Now, I want to hear your perspective on this. How do people know? Because I see it every day with clients that I coach. They're not understanding the difference between when something really is a spiritual no because it's not aligned or it's just fear, because sometimes our fear can confuse us into thinking a spiritual yes is a spiritual no.
Oh.
How do you know the difference between this just is not the right puzzle piece or fear hang in here? Because our dreams often come with us, having to be confronted by our deepest, darkest fears.
Yeah, well, fear. I'm gonna tell you, when you know fear, it's fear when you know there's something on the other side waiting for you, but there's a paralyzation trying to hold you back from it.
Oh, that's really good.
You get what I mean? Like, you know, if you could get out yourself, if you could debate yourself and move away from this feeling and get all the way over there, that's where you want to be, should be, and something's in there, but something's trying to stop you from it. If something is trying to stop you from the move, it's fear. If something is happening that is maybe changing the course of your direction or causing a challenge in the direction that you want, well, maybe you want to look at that and say, okay, is there a way to take this challenge that's happening and alter it to where I want to be? That's not fear. That's just understanding that life has hurdles. And sometimes you got to maneuver around the hurdle, through the hurdle, or within the hurdle. But if there's a physical bondage, like paralyzing you from the move forward, that's fear. And you gotta bring fear with you. You have to bring fear with you. Please never let fear stop you from doing anything. Pray through it. I would always, when I was doing makeup, I wasn't the greatest by any means, but I would always just pray before I went in. God, please touch my hand. I really am not sure what I'm doing. God, please touch my. The people that I'm here to serve, that I can hear their desires of their heart and through me hearing them, that I can provide them what they need. God, please move me through this as I'm very uncertain of my next direction. So just pray, pray through it. Or if you don't pray, talk yourself through it. I can do this. I will do this. I have done it before in different ways. There's greatness for me on the other side. And every time you talk yourself through through it, you're making one step closer.
I love asking yourself in a moment where you don't know, is this fear just a no. Is there something calling me on the other side of this? And if there's not, it's an easy no. But if there is, I absolutely challenge you to play a game with yourself called holding yourself capable. You have gotten through the fear before in different ways, like Leah said, and you can do it again.
Yeah.
Hold yourself capable. That you. That is your greatness. And the reason I love Leah is she does connect people back to their greatness. And even just the experience of receiving Valencia Key jewelry in the mail. I just ordered the Believe it bracelet. I know I'm going to have a spiritual experience. I'm not even kidding. When I get it in the mail. Okay. This is my greatness and I'm going to weigh it to remind me in those moments of fear. Believe it. And we do get to design our lives and we do get to love our lives. And the challenges I believe just give us permission to love our lives even more and to appreciate our lives even more. And Leah, I appreciate you so very much. You are a walking testimony of a woman who loves her life and is on a mission and makes a difference. I strive to do that too. I want that for all of us. And this experience of waking up in the morning and going to bed at night and genuinely no bs, loving our lives. And would you share with us in just closing Jamie's quote about God qualifying the cult?
Yeah. Yeah, that's my quote. I love what she said.
Oh my gosh. That's so good.
So good that Jamie always says. And it's in the Believe it book. So I'd love. Because there are so many nuggets of quotes in that believe it book too. Oh. But one of the great ones is God doesn't call the qualified. So sit on that. Like God is not looking for who's qualified that I should call God qualifies the. Called what? That's amazing. Meaning if you hear the whisper, God called you. Yep. So it doesn't matter if you're qualified because in that journey, that's gonna qualify you all the way. I am Rebecca. I am a living 41 year old testimony of that Quote, there is nothing that I've done that I am truly qualified to do. But God called me and I said yes. And as I said yes, I was starting to become qualified through learnings and hurdles and challenges and fears and drops and falls and trips and tears. But I kept saying yes and I kept believing. And every time I said yes and every time I believed more, God kept qualifying me even more. So wherever you are, whoever you are, I love connecting that to all of us. Because, Rebecca, this is not for just you. It's not just from me. It's for all of us. Stop self selecting yourself out of your greatness.
Greatness for evidence that you're not, or.
Looking for evidence that you are great or that you're not great. Stop looking for the evidence. You don't need it. The evidence is that you're here. The evidence is that you're breathing. And the evidence is that you have a vision in your head. Now, the rest is just keep on believing and doing little work towards your steps. And we are here, Rebecca and I, to be your cheerleader. Like, go, go, go, go, go.
Yes.
Like, we are here for that. Because this life journey or this life thing is not isolated to select human beings. It's open for all of us. And we just want to bring everybody along with us.
We do. And we're not alone. And to me, loving our lives is something that we can remember to do in any moment. And in the most challenging moment, we don't need to love the moment, but we can remember to love our lives. And we can remember to say yes to more life. And we can remember we have more life to live as long as we are still here and breathing.
Leah.
Thank you. Let's love our lives. No matter how difficult this moment is that you are in, your life is precious and you matter. And we genuinely and sincerely love you.
Me too. We love you. I love you, Rebecca.
I love you, Leah. We will see you again soon.
Yay.
