It’s Time to Be Grateful for Our Triggers Too | This Holiday Season and During the Dark Winter Days

Rebecca Silence shares a healing message about embracing emotional triggers and leaning into discomfort during the holiday season and dark winter days. She explores how triggers can lead to personal growth rather than avoidance, and promotes her free ebook and upcoming women's retreat in Colorado.
Hey, everyone. It is Rebecca. Silence, creator of healing, is possible with today's healing message that no matter what darkness or triggers show up, there's always a beginning, a middle, and an end to that uncomfortable discomfort. Icky energy that we don't want to feel is if and only if, we will lean in, breathe into it, and stay with it until the charge starts to relax and eventually releases and goes away. It is a week of Thanksgiving. It is the beginning of winter. And I want people to understand that the goal during this time of the year is not to try to avoid conflict. And that's what so many people do heading into the holidays, heading into winter, heading into the darkness energetically that they're feeling. People want to do anything but be with their. What I'm just going to call, to simplify this, triggers. But when we want to do anything but be with and deal with and face and move through and conquer our triggers and conflict, and we have no power. And I want you to learn how to make your triggers your bitch. I want you to learn how to be the most powerful version of you in the face of uncomfortable emotions and uncomfortable scenarios so that no matter what you're facing, you never feel powerless again. I want you in the full expression of your greatness, especially, especially in the midst of these challenges and not trying to do damage control or shut them down or run away in whatever ways you like to run. Right? We all have our vices, and our vices keep us from our greatness. And the triggers are not bad. They're not good either, but they're not bad. They're not wrong. They're there to show you all right? I've got this energy, this belief, this story, this old wound that no longer serves me that is literally bubbling up because it's time for me to release it. It's literally here because my life is safe enough for me to face it and deal with it. And our triggers, they really and truly do run our lives. I want you to think about what I'm saying. Your triggers, the things in you, the things in others that get you feeling shaken. Those triggers become patterns that run your life in different costumes, in different flavors, with different characters, until you take on being willing to be with them, leaning in, breathing in, sitting in it, as long as it takes again for that energy to start to relax. And if you can trust and know that there's life on the other side of the trigger, not meaning, oh, the trigger went away and it's dealt with for now, but, like, there's literally life on the other side of the trigger, meaning you've broken through the pattern so that it's no longer a thing. So for example, I for so many years had this very deep fear of being too much. And that fear of being too much would almost have me in this fake, masculine, bossy, controlling way of trying to manage the triggers and the fear of being too much, that only created more evidence within myself that I was too much and kind of trained everybody else that I was a lot at the same time. And I am a lot. I mean, I'm not pretending like I'm not an intense person with a big energy and big dreams and big ideas. And I'm really wanting big impact in this lifetime around helping people along on a mission of hope and healing with me that want it. But when I had this trigger of being too much, the unhealed parts of me proved it right, created more of an experience of it. And it just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger until, you know, really learning how to be with that fear of being too much so I could come down and, and just be all of who I am. And there's a big difference. All of who I am is a lot. You know, one of my best friends, when she first met my husband 10 or 11 years ago, she asked me, she goes, bex, does he know how intense you are? And the answer was yes. And there was more that he didn't know yet for sure. But see, when we're afraid of these triggers or when we're afraid of the parts of ourselves that we don't think the world can handle, we just create a self inflicted hell and prison that keeps us disconnected. Instead of allowing ourselves to risk being all of who we are and letting the chips fall and knowing when we're all of who we are with the best of intentions, yeah, the chips are going to fall. We will still get misunderstood, misinterpreted, criticized, all those things. But when we can know who we are from a place of confidently embracing that our intentions are are good, our best is enough, and we're not afraid of the conflict or the triggers anymore. We don't necessarily have to like them, but when they show up, we're willing to be in that bring it attitude. There's so much power there and there's so much relief and there's so much life to live. So again, the healing message today is it is possible for you to make your triggers your bitch and it is possible for you to learn how to relax into them so that you can experience life on the other side.
