Life will always throw us curve balls

Rebecca Silence shares two personal stories: losing her appointment book led to a better scheduling system, and disagreements with her husband taught her to face disowned parts of herself. When life throws curveballs, you can fall into victimhood or choose leadership and learning.
Hi, I'm Rebecca. Silence Inspired results coach, and I want to talk about curveballs. I wish I could say life isn't going to throw anyone any curve balls, that there wouldn't be heartbreak, but that would just be a lie. I actually went through several little curveball moments over this weekend, and what I got were several gifts and several lessons. The first curve ball that I was thrown was on a rainy Halloween night. My appointment book that has me scheduled through the end of the year disappeared, Vanished. I don't know if the Witches of Eastwood came out and somehow took it or what ended up happening, but it is gone. My entire family, my assistant, even her husband have searched the entire area and it is nowhere to be found. So at first, I had some options. I could either fall apart and be in meltdown victim mode, or I could get into leadership and get resourceful. I won't lie and say that there weren't knots in my stomach when I realized, all right, this is just not coming back to me right now. I'm going to have to figure something out. And I did. I took some breaths, moved through those knots in my stomach, and ended up setting up an online system that will be much more efficient for my business in the long run. And honestly, it should have happened a long time ago. Another curveball was some disagreements with my husband. Relationships are not meant to just be sunshine and rainbows. When we're in relationship, that equals a mirror to the darkest parts of ourselves that we don't like to see. The parts of us that we deny. In my experience, we attract in our partner so that we're forced to face the music that happened this weekend in my relationship. And again, I see a tremendous gift because the parts of me that I don't like and that I reject, that I project onto my partner, they're real and they deserve love, too. The bottom line is that all of the curveballs that come our way, we either have an opportunity to reject them and then we'll just get more curveballs, or we can breathe through the curve balls, get into leadership, get resourceful, and get the lesson. It's your choice. Thank you.
