Stop Failing on your own terms.

Rebecca Silence urges you to stop quitting before you've really tried. She shares stories from her own life—weight loss, career, relationships, her dog Kayla—to show what it means to commit fully instead of failing on your own terms.
Stopped failing on our own terms. It's Rebecca Silence with your Monday Healing is possible message. If you're tuning in live, I'd love to hear from you in the comments below. What is your relationship with failure? What is your fear around failure? I last year discovered a term that felt very much too true for too many people and I call it failing on your own terms. And what I mean by failing on your own terms is when you've committed Last week we talked about commitment and it starts to get scary or hard or begins to seem like your efforts are fruitless. That's when failure on your own terms can happen. When I'm realizing I might fail. So now I'm going to guarantee I fail. But I did it my way. I'm in control. Wasn't going to work out anyway. Except when we fail on our own terms. We can't know when we go to sleep at night whether or not it was going to work out anyway. If we kept the commitment up, if we kept going, if we became unwilling not to fail on our own terms but instead chose to give our all. So can you relate to what I am saying about failing on your own terms? When have you done that? I have done it a million times with taking on my body and weight loss. I have done it in my career. I have done it in past relationships. I had a dog named Kayla. She was this amazing Rottweiler lab and she died in 2016 at 15 years old. That dog and I moved 15 times, multiple states. That dog saw me through so many different jobs and relationships and seasons of my life. And the quitting, the failing on my own terms is what would have us move again and again and again and again and again and again. And there is something great about a fresh start, but it is also a lot of work and it is inevitable that when we quit because we were failing on our own terms, because we were scared of the failure that seemed inevitable, so we just did it our way. It is so much a guarantee, hear me, that you are going to get to the same place where you quit before, again after that great feeling of the next fresh start. Are you with me? Failing on your own terms just prolongs the inevitable. And how dare you not chase after what you want. How dare you not make sure you gave it all you had. If it's something that's important to you, this healing is possible. Community this has been one of the greatest rewards of my entire life so far. Being here in this community with all of you and servicing you and serving this message of healing as possible. And there are so many times where my head will say, I don't know if I can do it. I don't know if it's worth it. Well, maybe to some people it's not, but to me, I'm going to keep going. I'm going to keep bringing this healing as possible movement and message to life. What? What is it for you? You know, to me, that moment where you want to quit your way on your terms, it's just a moment to get recommitted and we're heading into the second quarter of 2021. What did you do with the first three months? What are you doing with the next three months? Let's not just let time go by. If the pandemic hasn't taught us anything, it's taught us to live intentionally. It's taught us to focus on what we do, have control over and we have control over whether or not we are going to throw in the towel. And we have control over knowing we did everything we could. We are going to fail. But sometimes we can fail knowing we did everything we could and sometimes we can fail our way in control because it just got too scary. Do you hear the difference? You deserve to do your best and to know you did and to let your best be enough. And I invite you the next time you want to fail on your own terms or sabotage yourself, to remember you have the right to give it everything you've got so that you know that you did. I am so looking forward to hearing how this healing message today around stopping the failure on your own terms so you can fully go for it and know you did resonates. Thanks everyone and I'll see you again next week.
