I was just working with a client this morning who is petrified to ask for the correct amount of money, and it all went back to mom never made that much money, and she's been playing it safe and just asking for enough for her basic needs to be met. Now, in her brain, she goes on vacations with her kid. She's a badass single mom. She covers all the bases. So she didn't think she was just getting the bare minimum needs met, but her life and her values include travel and adventure. So it is a bare need, but everything is pinching pennies and getting by.
