I love you all. I'm so happy to be here.
So we are now finally into summer.
Yeah.
The question I have for you is how do we make the most out of our summer, whether it be individually or for the entire family? I realize it's a broad stroke, but at the same time, We're talking to a lot of people.
Absolutely. So first of all, this summer can be your summer of peace and joy and fulfillment if you claim that. So maybe it isn't peace, joy, and fulfillment for you. Maybe it's fun, but at least pick one word, what you want this summer to be for you. A lot of us pick a word for the year. My word for 2026 happens to be provision, but I am committed to a summer of fun and adventure. What are you committed to? Let me ask you that. But then take it a step farther. Check in with every single person under your roof. What do we— what do they want this summer to be for them, right? And what are 2 to 3 things each person in the house wants to experience this summer. In my house, I am the paddleboard queen. I want to go paddleboarding as much as I possibly can, which is a little hard in Colorado since it's a drought and there isn't much water, right? But there are still reservoirs and places to go.
So you have a bathtub, it's fine.
I do, I have that too, but my paddleboard won't fit. The last week, my 11-year-old and I went to Spain. That was our big thing for the summer, the two of us together with 20 other kids on a school trip, but that was like our big thing that was super important to us in Spain. What do you want to experience? And then taking a play from my week in Spain, I also want to just suggest slowing it down. It's okay to slow it down. In Spain, they siesta every afternoon, which means a nap. I don't nap, but I thought this one's amazing, right? This seems like actually a very fun idea. Like, what if even on Friday afternoons I gave myself 2 hours to put the phone away, turn off the computer, stop working, read, nap, hit my hot tub, take a walk? Let's slow it down and actually enjoy. And if you build that in the summer, you can bring it into fall, you can bring it into winter. It's just part of your lifestyle. And you might be thinking, yeah, Rebeccah, I don't have the luxury of taking 2 hours. I'm working 3 jobs. I have all of these responsibilities. But I want you to just at least consider even 30 minutes a day with yourself is everything. And of course you have time for that. When I feel busy, I slow it down. When I feel busy, I take more time to just— wait a minute, let's reset. So for your summer, what do you want this summer to be? Claim it. Give it a word. Ask everybody in your house what their word is. Pick 2 to 3 things everybody in the family wants to do, and it can be free. It doesn't have to be expensive. I just took my family to a farm sanctuary, and we my, my little 11-year-old was holding 1-week-old baby peacocks.
Aw.
I spent $20 and it was like the best $20 I've ever spent to just have this adventure in this sanctuary, right? And then don't be afraid to slow it down and really savor and siesta.
When in doubt this summer, just, uh, just do a Rebeccah Siesta.
Yes.
