Foreign. I'm Renee Speraza, your sommelier, here to put amazing wine in your glass. And these are my liquid pleasures. This winery has always taken care to consider the planet in all of their farming. They are certified California sustainable and follow the Lodi rules of over 150 farming standard practices. And now they've added or taken away even more. Summer is a portable season. We like to bring things with us everywhere we go, from the beach to the park, even friends houses. So with all that in mind, it's important to keep your basket light. But there's other reasons to keep a light basket too. And we're going to be exploring a lighter summer sipper today. This is the McManus Family Vineyards Chardonnay. And it represents a different side of California winemaking. This is coming from a state grown fruit in the River Junction Ava. It's a really unique place because it's right where the San Joaquin and Stellanis rivers meet. In the glass you get this beautiful, almost golden toned, little bit of golden and green flecks in there, but it's such a boldly colored wine. The unique thing about this bottle is its weight. Now, a lighter bottle might not seem like something to shout about, but it is. When wineries come cut the weight of their bottles using lighter glass, they can reduce their carbon footprint and overall sustainability measures by up to 25%. But what's most important is in the glass. So let's get into these aromas. There's some beautiful Meyer lemon stone fruit, yellow and green apple in there. Little bit of plush vanilla tones and nuttiness as well. But you get this nice, almost crispy, seaside minerality that just dances through the aromas of the wine. The best part about Lodi is you get this combination of warm fruit mixed with minerality, and that's what this region is really known for. This bottle from McManus has reduced their carbon footprint by 30%. At just over 1,100 grams, it's equivalent to three apples. And it's made with lighter glass, which means you have less energy for transportation, less energy to make the glass, and more energy savings across the board, keeping the same delicious wine in the bottle. Lodi is characterized as a Mediterranean wine region. It has warm days and cool nights, but its delta breezes really bring a lot of fresh air and nuance into the wines themselves. So let's give this a taste. Mmm. That acidity, that freshness, that's from the terroir, but the flavors themselves, crisp yellow apple, star fruit, really bright Meyer lemon is on the palate as well. Plus we get a little bit of toastiness and a little bit of grip from that oak aging. This is a delicious glass of wine in a lighter bottle that we can all get behind because sipping sustainably is absolutely delicious. Plus it makes this picnic basket just a little bit lighter. I want to hear your thoughts on more sustainable wines and if you've tried this one before,
