Sleep stages. So we talked a little bit about the NREM sleep. It's the non rapid eye movement sleep. The purpose is it cleanses and detoxes the brain, disposes of unimportant memories, these neural connections. It says, you know what, all these things that happened today, what are the most important memories that I need to remember and store into my long term memory? And these waves are short and fast. Weirdly, they're similar to the awake state, REM sleep. This is rapid eye movement sleep. Your eyes are literally moving the from left to right rapidly. People used to think that it was because of the dreams and you're watching the dreams, but they've proven that that's not what it is. The purpose is it strengthens the neural connections in your brain, right? So this cleans out some of the neural connections that we don't need. The sleep state in REM is strengthen now. It strengthens those. These are the ones that are left now are gonna strengthen those neural connections. We're thinking that dreaming does some of that stuff. Dreaming does some other stuff too. We don't exactly understand it yet, but we're thinking that dreaming strengthens these neural connections. It does some other stuff, helps you to work things out.
