A short YouTube segment by Rich Bello defining fear using the acronym "FEAR" — 'False Evidence Appearing Real.' The speaker explains the concept and gives a concrete anecdote (rope mistaken for a rattlesnake) to illustrate how fear can arise from misperception.

There's an acronym for fear usually is False Evidence Appearing Real. F, E, A, R. False Evidence Appearing Real. I don't know if people have ever heard of the story of There's a rope in the road. They're like, oh, my God. Snake, Snake. Snake alert. And it's a rattlesnake. Look at that. It's a rattlesnake. But it turns out that it is just a rope in the road. False step. And it's appearing real. So you got all scared for no reason.
