This is a YouTube video titled "Chasing money is the fastest way to self destruct" featuring Rich Schefren delivering a motivational talk about the pitfalls of chasing money, the concept of the hedonic treadmill, and the importance of pursuing meaningful goals to maintain a fulfilling life. Chasing money is the fastest way to self destruct. Take it from me, I've made literally tens of millions of dollars in my career while helping my clients make billions of dollars. So I'm one of the few people who can truly tell you exactly this. Most of you are still in the phase where you're chasing money, and understandably so. But you need to remember this early on. You see, money won't solve all your problems. After a while, it'll make your life extremely boring. Unfortunately, it's a reality check you receive only when you have enough money to truly understand what I'm about to tell you. You see, there's a concept called the hedonic treadmill. And basically you get used to whatever you have. That's why lottery winners are neither happier nor sadder than they were a year ago. And it goes the same for someone who's an amputee. You just get used to whatever it is and you take it for granted. This is why you're happy after you achieve a goal for a week or two and then you're right back to normal. So how does life become interesting again? Goals. It's as simple as that. You see, you need new goals to pursue. Goals that excite you, goals that matter to you. There's only so much time that you can spend relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. And you see, the more you do that, the more boring your life gets. And eventually you'll get into a self destructive mode. It happens to celebrities. You've seen it countless times. Be goal oriented, not money oriented. Be in pursuit of something that matters to you. It might sound trite, but the journey is really the thing, never the destination.
