This is a YouTube video titled "Never. Shirk. From. A. Fight. #businessowner #businessstrategist #entrepreneur" featuring Rich Schefren sharing personal insights on the importance of confronting issues in business and personal relationships to maintain healthy dynamics. The content is a monologue or talk by Rich Schefren discussing a specific experience with his assistant and emphasizing the value of addressing conflicts directly.
Never shirk from a fight. The trick to building a long, healthy relationship with your business partners, your employees, your wife, or anyone for that matter, is not to avoid confrontation. Instead, fight as much as you can when it's necessary. I'm not talking about trying to make fights out of small, inconsequential things. Fight about the things that matter. One time my assistant handed his resignation note out of nowhere and I was shocked because he was doing his job just fine. So I asked him why and he gave in and gave me a long list of the times I've made him feel bad and hurt his feelings in some way or another. And I was like, then why didn't you tell me then? And even before that conversation I knew. It's not easy to work with me. I'm a perfectionist, demanding and all that. But it all happened because that dude bottled up his feelings until he could not take it anymore and imploded on me. After that, I tried to talk it out between us and he stayed and worked as my assistant for a few more years, but things almost became irreparable between us just because of him being non confrontational.
