This is a YouTube video titled "What if someone steals my ideas? #entrepreneur #businessowner #startup" containing a monologue by Rich Schefren recorded on January 3, 2024. In this content, Rich Schefren discusses common fears entrepreneurs have about others stealing their business ideas, emphasizing that the real challenge is gaining customers rather than worrying about idea theft.
The problem is never getting people to not steal your idea. Anyone who's ever had a business and tried to sell an idea recognizes how difficult it is to get people to pay attention to your idea and even to listen. Right. The world is not full of people like eavesdropping on entrepreneurs ready to take their ideas. If they're going to take anyone's ideas, they're not going to take an unproven idea. So could customers buy in return? Yes. And could that hurt you? Yes. Should you figure out ways to avoid it? Yes. But should it be the number one concern that your vendors could steal your customers? No. Because right now there are zero customers. So when there's zero customers, there's nothing to worry about as far as someone taking those customers or those customers returning stuff because they haven't bought stuff. It's like, I don't want to go to the gym because I'm afraid I'll get too hot, I'll look too good, and then all these women will be hitting on me, and I won't know how to reject them. And then because of that, I'm going to have a divorce. I don't want to get in shape until I figure out how to handle that because I think I'll lead to divorce. That's insane, and that's silly.
